Review Saigon Fast Food - Greenville

A very positive experience visiting Saigon Fast Food today. We really loved the Pho and vermicelli. The staff were super nice and I can't wait to try more things on the menu.

Probably the most disturbing experience I have ever encountered. Did not ask me what drink I wanted, talked to me from the counter instead of seating me, and the most nastiest tasting pho I have ever had. The soap in the restroom was not soap but diluted color water.

Road by the gem for years & finally stopped. They have some of the best pho & milkshakes! Every nice people also....this definitely will be my go to for pho in the Greenville.

I’m giving this restaurant four stars primarily because my wife loves the Pho here. At other Vietnamese restaurants, she usually has to season it with other sauces or add basil or bean sprouts to get the flavor combination she likes. But she never has to do anything with the pho here. So no issues there. I’d stay clear of any of the other dishes, though. The Pad Thai (pictured) was incredibly bland and, honestly, the worst I’ve ever had. I lived in Thailand and, although I’m no expert, I know my way around the cuisine. The flavor was nothing of a Pad Thai dish, and I could tell the color was all wrong. The chicken was much too fatty. And the peanuts tasted rotten. I ate maybe half of it, and finished my wife’s pho instead. From that standpoint, I’d give the restaurant two or three stars at best. I’ve certainly had better Vietnamese food, but if you’re just wanting some pho, this place is solid.

The food is fantastic! Great service an they are so friendly here. I had fried spring roll vermicelli (they added broth by request). Oh an the bubble tea is so good, it could be a dessert!

I love Phó and when I moved to Greenville a little over a year ago besides learning how to get around I needed to learn where to eat! So this spot is nearby to my home and work, which is a bonus. It may not have much for atmosphere, no music or tv’s, but at times I find it refreshing to just focus on the food! I have tried multiple items off the menu, which by the way is extensive. I always test the Phó with a basic beef phó. Their broth is remarkable, and its a large bowl! I can’t help but order spring rolls, but then I cant finish the phó. Haha! No regrets! This is a family run business. Its kept clean and the prices are affordable. Its a small dining room so its best to travel with a small group. The photo I have posted is of #60, which is currently my nee favorite! It has shrimp wontons, and pork! Amazing!

Been going there for over a decade, found this place when we're in Wade Hampton HS. Love this place, more so now to keep small business afloat.

If you like homemade, authentic Vietnamese Pho, then this is the place to come! Have been coming here for years.

We ordered the fresh beef Pho and it was outstanding. I order Pho wherever I can and have very strong opinions. The broth was spot on as were the beef and the accompaniments.
I read other reviews and was so surprised at some of the negative reviews. There has to be a story behind them. We spent time speaking with the staff and owner and they were so open and informative. Cannot wait to return!!!

I wanted some Thai tea, and this place was close so I tried it out. Came in and was literally the only customer in the restaurant and the worker looked irritated that I wanted something. Got the Thai tea and was probably one of the worst one I've ever had.

A friend and her family were denied service at this restaurant recently. They were told they would not be served because their daughter is in a wheelchair. Horrible and illegal!

Very tasty good food every time I've been there. An amazing amount of choices that are all prepared well. The menu is over 100 pages long. I am always careful to pick good choices when I go out to eat so you might go when you're not starving the first time due to
so many choices until you learn the menu . The service is fast and the people who work there are friendly. I would recommend it.

My roommates and I have eaten here for years. Their food is always delicious and great service. They really care about the food they are making I was sad to see other experiences weren't so positive. I always get the Spicy Noodle soup Xtra spicy and the roomie gets the Pork Fried Rice. There Banh MI sandwiches are also very good and their salads.

I was so excited to try this place. I can't even write a proper review because we never actually got to eat here. We waited for 20 minutes at our table, and no one ever came to take our order. I couldn't find anyone who actually worked there-no wait staff, cashier, no one. We ended up leaving and going to another establishment.

Terrible customer service!. I had the same issue as another commenter about her not wanting to take a 'group', there were six of us and only two other people in the restaurant! Another time I came alone at exactly 7:10 and she handed me a menu but irritability told me they're closing soon, I asked if it's changed from eight o'clock and she said "No, but it's 7". The food is pretty good, that's why I've been there about five times total, but each time they make you feel very unwelcome and seeing how it's just food and there are plenty of other places to eat in Greenville where the staff is pleasant, I wouldn't recommend going here.

Non logical visit. Brought 11 students to the restaurant . Though the place was half full and could more than accommodate us, the owner told us we had to eat take away and that we couldn't stay. I tried to reason, but it wasn't happening. We agreed to the terms as it was a nice day and I thought we would eat alfresco at a local park. By the time we got our food there were only three customers left, so I asked of we could sit. "No!" She said angerly, "you take away or I'll give your money back!" The food was great, but in the end the owner was not nice. Bummer of an educational experience:(

I was very disappointed. They were very unfriendly.the dishes was dirty with old food left on it and they didn't even care if you spent your money with them would not recommend not going

Must go!. I love Saigon Fast Food. The menu can be overwhelming, but I've loved everything I've ordered. The soups are incredible and a meal in themselves. The owners are super sweet and if you're like me and find something you like a stick to it - they'll know what you want when you walk in the door.

Go there, it's one of the best Vietnamese restaurants you'll find. Driving down Pleasantburg Road in Greenville, SC, you can expect to see lots of dated, shabby-looking strip shopping centers. One of which has a sign that says Saigon Fast Food. Should I go in you may say to yourself? I've heard good things about this place online but it looks like a dump from the outside. Yes, you can and should go in for this is a diamond in the rough.

Saigon is tiny - tiny as in seating for about 40 people tops. No fancy decor and there is a staff of two - a very pleasant lady who serves as hostess and waitress and the gentleman in the kitchen who is the cook. The menu you'll be presented with is massive and you'll be given ample time to digest it. Nothing what you order though, at least from my experiences, will be a disappointment. I intend to go back again and again because everything I've had has been so incredibly good. This review is based on what I have been fortunate enough to experience so far.

First of all, the crispy spring rolls. They're a standard at every Vietnamese restaurant but at Saigon, you get the feeling that they were just made and not out of the freezer. Served piping hot with a nice little side salad of lettuce, pickled cucumber, carrot slices and a spicy fish sauce, these little appetizers are a delightful way to get started.

The bahn mi looks like a simple little sandwich but ingredients matter and again, the Saigon doesn't cut corners on quality. The bread tastes like it was made that day, the grilled pork is succulent and spicy enough. I don't know what's in their spread but it marries the meat, cilantro and pickled vegetables together in perfect harmony.

So far, I've only had the grilled pork vermicelli bowl and it's a winner. The pork was all meat and no fat and was balanced well with the vegetables and noodles. There is something about the fish sauce here that's a cut above other places I've been. Don't know what it is but, its a helluva lot better. They also have a home-made sauce on each table that's a delight. Not too sweet, not too sour, just right. Not that you'll need a lot because this dish is flavored perfectly. Did I mention the fresh mint and basil?

I've had pho on two occasions and will be going back to sample others on the
menu. The crispy duck pho and the beef pho are both very good and served piping hot. A good pho has a broth that someone prepared at least a day before and used all the right spices, cooking long enough for everything to marinate just right. Saigon Fast Food is a place that does just that because you can taste the ginger, anise and other spices. The beef, like the aforementioned pork, is free of fat. Duck is duck - a somewhat greasy meat - but if you like duck meat, you'll love the crispy duck pho at this place. All good pho soups (should) come with fresh Thai basil, lime, jalapeño and bean sprouts. That's the case here but Saigon goes the extra mile with some generous amounts of scallions, green onion and cilantro in the soup. Mix it all together and you're in heaven.

I live in Asheville which, despite its reputation as a foodie down, is lacking when it comes to Vietnamese. Bobo Pho is horrendous and Pho-R-Us is inconsistent. Greenville is worth the hour drive south for the real deal. Saigon Fast Food rocks!

Amazing. Please go try this place. Authentic, fresh, huge menu, delicious.

Incredible menu. I live flipping through the menu. The pho is fantastic. The summer rolls are tight, crispy fresh and delicious. Cozy little hole in the wall with great food and super friendly owners. Give it a try and I know you will become a huge fan like I am.

Best Pho in Greenville, hands down. Saigon Fast Food has the only duck pho in town, and they are extremely generous on their portion of tender, succulent duck in the soup. This dish makes me so happy that I eat it once a week. One day I was curious to try something else so I got pork and noodles with summer rolls, it too, blew me away. Ever since my first visit, I haven't been able to stay away for more than a few days at a time. You will be pleased, I guarantee it.

If Anthony Bordain and Andrew Zimmern have taught us anything, it's to admire the huge, shiny buildings where the chain restaurants have put on a front to sell their food, and then walk past them into the real restaurants. This is one of those real restaurants. They make food here. GOOD food. Food that Vietnamese folk have told me was so good, they go there when they want a taste of 'home', and you can take that to the bank. My wife and I spent $54 before tip. This was for two Thai teas, sweet tea (which has a nice flavor, not just your Luisianne), steamed shrimp dumplings, a spicy red-colored seafood fried rice, crunchy duck soup (my wife would like you to know that it is superior to the duck she has had in any of the Main Street restaurants), and something called bubble tea, which is an interesting drink, a lot like a smoothie, and very good. I'd go back for those alone! For those who are about to judge the price, know that this meal fed us TWICE. The woman who runs the restaurant is extremely kind, and has positive things to say about everything. I feel as though I've eaten at a neighbor's house, and I will return again.

The menu choices are endless and the food is just amazing. The roasted duck Pho soup, red pork banh mi, steamed dumplings an the list will continue to grow. Whenever I'm in Greenville I'll be sure to come here! Get the bubble tea its sooo good! The service is great, what more can I say accept GO HERE!

Great Food. I am guilty, it had been too long...I am reminded why I love this place so much. Great food and a diverse menu.
I have been a fan of Saigon from the start. I remember when Helen and her husbands daughter had a hideout under the counter. Have Helen make you a Vietnamese coffee bubble tea. I love it all!

Very good. As I've written before, I'm happy that places like Greenville show they're more than chain restaurants and southern cuisine (although I do love the latter). This place has really good food that's authentic (cliche I know, but true): had a nice talk with the owner and she said that the first year only asians came, so there you go, that's how you know this place is authentic. Looks like a hole in the wall, sure isn't fancy, but who cares if the food is great?

Very good food! Love the pho! Only problem I portions are kinda small but otherwise it taste great. Bubble tea is a must buy as well!
