If you want to eat here for breakfast on the weekend, be prepared to wait. It is worth the wait. It's worth the drive and out of the heart of downtown. When you get your seat, the service is excellent and comes with a pleasant smile. Whatever the building used to be, they did a great job making it comfortable with an aged feel. The food? Top notch breakfast with some Polish options. The fried potatoes are terrific. The skillets are overloaded with eggs, but still yummy. Come, wait, and enjoy.

A good looking diner with delicious tasting food! I had the #2: Hungrier which came with their buttermilk pancakes. I enjoyed every bite of this breakfast and washed it down with a glass of orange juice. Service was in pretty good shape for how busy it was. The atmosphere is a nice ma and pa vibe with the kitchen being out and seeing what the chefs are cooking up. I will definitely be returning.

Went to Grand Rapids for a wedding. We stopped at this little place that was a Google search of "Places to eat near me." Can I say... OMG!! We went to the restaurant for breakfast. I could smell wonderful smells outside... but when you walk in, you are immediately taken aback by the wonderful aroma of bacon. Now, you don't have to eat it to appreciate the smell of it. Anyway... you pass by the kitchen on your left where you can see everyone hard at work preparing and making the food orders. They were just busting the tickets out so effortlessly; such a great team of people working together. We sat at a booth in the corner near a window where we people-watched and could observe the whole restaurant. The servers/wait staff were all smiles and so quick to refill drinks, accommodating requests of other patrons, Let's jump to the menu. Okay, soooo.... I don't know where to start. Everything looked and sounded amazing in the description. It was so hard to choose. I can't remember what I ordered, but you can look at my pictures and show the staff or read and compare. What I ordered was ONE meal. And the rye toast wasn't even pictured. Food portions are amazing! You could split your meal, but I opted to enjoy every single bit!! Pricing for meals is fair for quality, quantity, and flavor!

At first we were seated at an table sandwiched between people who were within back slapping distance on both sides. We just about left since we did not want to try to filter out other conversations, but they found us another table. If you're not in a booth, you will probably know a lot about the people you sit next to if it's crowded. But that didn't happen, so let's get to the food. That was fabulous. We split a "7th Street Hungriest" meal. It's a serious ton of food, and it was more than enough for the two of us. If you can eat all of that in one sitting, your name should be on the wall, and you may give Joey Chestnut a run for his money. We also got a couple perogies--a nice nod the Westside's Polish heritage. Coffee is a dark roast. It's a little loud for trying to talk when it's crowded as it was when we were there on a Friday at 10 am, but prompt, friendly service and great food made it an overall pleasant experience.

Food was amazing. Service was good, but they seemed too busy gossiping before acknowledging customers.

We were happy to revisit Westsider Cafe for the first time in a long time. It was still busy, but a wait should be expected at any place worth the time on a Saturday morning. We were happy to be able to leave a name and phone number with the hostess so we could wait outside. There's not a lot of room inside the restaurant to wait for a table. Our server was friendly, and the food was as good as we remembered. My partner and I both tried something new this time. She got the Cuban skillet and I got the Polish skillet. Both were great, and I was excited for the thick cut toast we got. I forgot how good the breads are that they use! I'm looking forward to going back again soon!

Everything was absolutely delicious, and the service was spot on! We were greeted with friendly smiles and greetings right away. My wife and I ordered the 7th Street breakfast to share, and they served it on 2 plates without being asked. There was more than enough food for both of us. We will definitely be back! Thank you Westsider!

There were a few reviews that didn't seem too please with service. I must say our service was wonderful. Our girl was very attentive and was quick getting us any thin we needed. When she was too busy with another table, another girl was quick to bring us our food. We never went without and they were busy! The food. Ohh man the food. It was so good! Everything was fresh and great portion sizes. For everything we got it was very reasonably priced. We will certainly be back to try our hand at lunch next time!

One of the best breakfast spots in town! Great atmosphere, great service, great food. I've been here many times and will be back many times in the future!

My breakfast came out quick despite a full restaurant. The portions were large especially the potatoes that were cooked perfectly with a crisp outside. The eggs were plentiful and cooked to a good consistency. The sausage gravy could have had more sausage, but the biscuit beneath was fresh and tasty. The service was very friendly, and I never had to ask for a refill. The staff helped each other's customers out. I can't wait to try a polish lunch here sometime soon.
