We came based on a recommendation and were happy that we did. We arrived at about 1:30 pm on a Saturday and the place wasn't busy luckily as the parking lot is smallish. A friend and I both got the French toast, another friend got the Fire Toast and another got the BLT sandwich. We all liked the food though the size was a bit smaller than our usual. The meals came reasonably quickly and our waitress visited our table enough times to ask if we needed anything. The atmosphere was pretty nice as well.

Absolute BEST breakfast place I have ever been to, and that’s no exaggeration. The environment was beautiful! Modern and very well kept. Typical places we eat at, we are always waiting long for our server, but service here is excellent. Shout out to Liam who served us, he was lovely and paced everything perfectly! I got a cold Chai and the Fire Toast and my husband got black coffee with B.Y.OB. This is a breakfast you could not replicate at home, 10 out of 10 for the assembly of the dish to the flavors! Cannot praise this place enough. If you give this place a chance, you will NOT regret it.

Delicious!!! Great spot for a solo lunch, to meet up with friends, or read a book. The staff was super friendly. I got the O.G. breakfast sandwich and added onion and bacon (by the staffs recommendation) and it was fantastic.

I would give more stars if I can! Food is really good and delicious with fresh ingredients in a welcoming friendly atmosphere. You can tell from the pictures I was enjoying my food and didn’t have chance to take picture of the full plate. Also shout out to our amazing server who went beyond and above with our little one. Family friendly and even my very picky mother loved it. Definitely recommend!

We had the Kevin Malone and the Muddy Cristo, and both were amazing. The coffee was very good but their steamer was down, so we will have to come back when we can try more of their drinks. The server was polite and friendly, and did a good job.

Firstly, the muddy mint drink was one of the best coffee drinks I've ever had! It was so smooth and subtle. So good! We shared the orange pancakes, Monte crisco, and mounty. Everything was fabulous! My picky son who is 5 also devoured his pancake!

We had a delightful breakfast here. The ambiance is top notch with a comfortably restored older building looking out on a vibrant neighborhood. Coffee is roasted on site and is top notch. We had the Roosevelt Park blend--a light to medium roast. One of us had the Insta-worthy, and it was top notch. I had the BYOB. Best part was the sunflower flax toast. The roasted vegetables, on the other hand, were a little undercooked and bland. For a $15 breakfast, the food has to be pretty near perfect. Service was friendly, our coffee cups never ran dry.

Enjoyed our visit to Mudpenny. Both our meals were great, especially the club sandwich. The coffee was much better than the usual sludge at breakfast places. The building and interior was tasteful and clean. The service was a bit slow for us, but it turned out they were understaffed that day. Definitely worth a try if you're in the area!

Mudpenny has absolutely DELICIOUS food. It’s nice that they have a parking lot, but the place was just a smidge difficult to find if you’re using GPS. The food came out quickly and our server was nice. The orange n’ cream pancakes were so good and so was the brown sugar shaken espresso. Definitely recommend for brunch, but I do not believe they serve any alcohol.

Mudpenny is one of my favorite places to eat in Grand Rapids. They have delicious food and delightful coffee. I have e joyed my experiences there. They have a great menu and plenty of seating. The staff is friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful. I enjoy the h more story and branding. The to go cups are neat. Only wish the roaster was a little more quiet and smelled a but better. Would recommend to anyone. Close to downtown. Can be busy so there is a wait and parking can be a little tricky. I have been street parking.

Interesting coffee/breakfast spot with an unusual menu - good selection of vegan/vegetarian options. My "OG" breakfast sandwich with added bacon was delicious (with a hint of mustard, and greens to help me feel virtuous) My maple bourbon iced latte was a savory/sweet treat as well If you're bored with the egg'n'hash places, or even the chicken'n'waffles joints give MudPenny a shot.

Very thoughtful, comfortable, and efficient business. We had a really positive experience overall and will definitely be coming back next time we’re in town! Recommend for vegans, vegetarians, folks who are gluten-free, and anyone who wants good food, coffee and conversation or a pleasant workspace. Delicious food: My partner is vegetarian and got the brunch wrap. I’m vegan and got the resolution. Both were delicious and filling. Also the brown sugar coffee was SO good. Cozy, calming atmosphere: Good music at a good volume for both conversation and working on your laptop. Good natural light. Very clean. Efficient: We had the perfect amount of interaction with our waiter. Food and drinks came quickly. We paid through a QR code on the receipt. Bonuses: Gender neutral bathroom had a changing table stocked with wipes and diapers. Also loved that they leaned into the “penny” theme.

I found this place thanks to another Google Reviewer, so thank you! I really liked the Mudpenny, only some minor quirks. I has the Muddy Cristo for brunch, it tasted wonderful and was a perfect mix of sweet and savory. My only issue was that it was served with a side of cold syrup, which was an unpleasant starkness to such a warm and delightfully created breakfast dish. If you order this, and you should, ask to have the syrup served warm. Other issue practical issue with this dish is that it was served on a fairly small plate that was fine, until I wanted to pick up my book and read. The small plate left my fork wanting to jump off onto the table. Quirky feedback, right? But who wants to grab their fork off the table... The atmosphere here is great, it's hot a great vibe and it's clearly a local favorite. I got here at about 1100 am on a Friday at the place was buzzing - which tells me it's a favorite of many. Next time in Grand Rapids I'll be back to enjoy another lovely breakfast for sure.

It was very open yet cozy there. I got the muddy cristo and my mom got the chicken salad sandwich. Both were very good. Servers were welcoming. However their menu has changed so my mom and I were a little disappointed when we found the menu was different than online but still enjoyed our meal.

Stopped by this place on the fly for a coffee emergency. It's a real gem. The Café Miel was made well, and the blueberry scones tasted super fresh and weren't dry, which is a common issue. Really nice atmosphere, a cozy space to while away the hours.

We’ve now had Mudpenny cater our son’s backyard birthday party two years running. While on the slightly pricey side for group food, you get what you pay for in terms of food quality and punctuality. People were absolutely raving this weekend about the curry wrap and chicken salad wraps in particular. The pomegranate salad was a huge crowd pleaser. This year instead of picking everything up we opted for delivery which was a nice task to take off my plate the day of the party. They arrived at the exact time we scheduled. Will continue to use Mudpenny for future gatherings. So impressed!!

Five stars, and more! Roosevelt Park location is beautiful. The atmosphere is great for a quick trip, study spot, dates, hanging out...everything! The employees are so kind and devoted to the customer. The food is insanely good, the menu is always evolving and they have great options for all types of diets. The coffee is SO GOOD and roasted in house (bonus, you can buy beans to take home!) Also, they have gone above and beyond during COVID19 to make everything as safe and clean as possible.

This is one of my most frequented coffee shops in Grand Rapids. I've been going here since they first opened and there honestly isn't a bad thing I can say about it. At the core, they have it together: good food, good coffee, good service. And "good service" is an understatement. Every single person that walks through this door is treated exceptionally well. (I know, because I'm a photographer that works remotely, and I camp out at the big community table that is located just inside the front door.) Mudpenny provides an experience that is unique from other cafes. Their grand opening in Ada cannot come soon enough. Patio seating? YES PLEASE.
