Excellent food! We brought in a group of 13 with no warning on a Saturday at lunchtime. (We didn't know that many people were joining us till the last minute.) The staff were completely friendly and accommodating. The restaurant is clean, bright and open. I love the unique pizza options -- Mediterranean pizza was so good. Some in our group had wraps, salads, and the kids with us enjoyed the chicken fingers and fries. All of it was very good!

I literally never leave reviews as often as I should, but this place deserves a review! I wish i would of gotten our servers name but I didn’t! However hands down my family and I received the best customer service experience today at lunch from the gentleman that waited on us. He was polite, very attentive, and gave great recommendations on too of being genuinely friendly. Its been years since we have experienced service like this in the hospitality industry! I thanked him and let his manager know! I don’t know if they just really are good about who they hire, or if this man just went the extra mile because its who he is! We will definitely frequent this establishment with hopes that all the staff is like him!! Also the pizza was amazing!!! So big shout out to the cooks also!!! Thanks for treating us so good!! We will be back!

The young man I spoke to had made a mistake with my order and was very apologetic and took accountability and empathized with my frustration. The workers and management really care about their customers satisfaction and they strive to make things right when they do make mistakes. Thank you to the young man who I spoke with regarding my order for being such a kind, caring human being with empathy and also thanks to Rafael for also having standards of customer satisfaction and enjoyment met.
Their pizzas are DELICIOUS by the way.

This pizza I must say is very good! I was very pleased with my experience. Place was clean, service was on point, and even the bread sticks were amazing. As far as pizza goes….. this is now my first choice above all the rest. In addition the gluten free pizza was great too which is hard to come by in Grand Rapids.

Friendly staff. We went in a group of 17 and were seated fairly quickly. The food came out fast. Everyone enjoyed it. My husband and I ordered a pizza and sandwich to share so we could try both. The croutons on the salad were so good. Would recommend if in the area to check this place out. Pictures of some of the ordered items from our group.

Best Detroit style pizza. Crust is perfectly crispy but soft. Toppings are fresh and delicious.

Great pizza! But you probably knew that already. What I found particularly good was the old world pepperoni. It has a great spice level that really brings out the best in the sauce and crust. A very unique style of pizza you won't be able to get anywhere else. Rather than greasy like New York style the crust is buttery which is great just remember to bring some anti-acids if you are prone to heartburn.
One a separate note, Buddy's brew is a great beer to pair with the pizza. A light wheat beer with a touch of grapefruit is a great balance to the dense pizza.

I'm in the area from several states away and needed something within walking distance of my hotel. A quick Maps search and Buddy's popped up in an area riddled with national chains. I much prefer the local scene.
Walked in and was quickly greeted and seated.
The waiter was over in a hurry and I ordered a local IPA. He was back within minutes with my ice cold beer and to take my order. The garlic bread was good. The bread itself was amazing and at that point, I became real excited about the pizza. The IPA was beautiful and tasty.
I ordered the Detroiter. I knew at first bite, I was in love. The cheese was stretchy, the crust was thick but crispy, sauce was perfectly seasoned and chunky. The pizza was not greasy or overly salty. It may have been perfect.
I don't know when I'll be back in the state of Michigan but if I ever do, I'm coming back to Buddy's.

My husband and I ate here for the first time yesterday for a late lunch. The lunch rush was gone which was no big deal. We ate at the bar as we usually do. I am familiar with the Buddy's in the Detroit area and have always loved their pizza! The buddies in Grand Rapids did not disappoint. It's just as I remembered (maybe better, because it's been a LONG time)! I love the fact that local Detroit brews and spirits are offered as well. We had great service and everybody was very nice. Highly recommend!

Had a tasty night out for pizza at Buddy's on 28th street! We had a the buddy's bread, caesar salad, and 8 piece 6 super mile pizza! Everything tasted great! I do wish that the breadsticks would have had a little more garlic to them but still very good.
The star of the show was definitely the pizza the crispy Detroit crust pizza! I am a sauce person when it comes to pizza and the sauce is really good here, I think next time I will ask for extra though! :) I can't wait to go back!

Best export from Detroit since the Ford Mustang & Chevy Corvettes. Who knew Detroit style Pizza could be so good. And, Pizza is not the only good thing. The salads rock. My daughter loved the Greek salad with the gluten free dressing. I had the burger that was one of the best I have ever had. It was cooked exactly like I ordered and melted in my mouth. Will be back.

Want a good pizza in Grand Rapids?!?!
I had to hit this place up while in town. Parking was no issue. Upon entering we got seated immediately. Drink orders placed (if you ask to try a beer they will allow you a sample).
We placed our food order and had to wait about 20/25 minutes for it to come up.
My pizza was a Detroitor. It was a nice thick crust square pizza. The buttery thick crust with a nice snap was delicious. The cheese was not greasy and had great flavor. The same with the tomato sauce that had thick tomatoes incorporated. It was very tasty. The pizza was not greasy at all. I honestly loved it.
I was thinking to myself this place is really great. Is it a 5 star pizza joint? Then it happened. Ronnie James Dio came on the overhead radio system with Rainbow "Man on the Silver Mountain" yep..it's official. 5 stars! No really, it's a great pizza place, and it really is worth checking out.

We sat outside and our waitress was fantastic. She was on the ball and super friendly, even though it was a busy night! She made great recommendations and made us feel very welcome.
The pizza was delicious, we each got a 4 corner. Great all around, we'd recommend to everyone!!

Super impressed. I stopped in based on the clean and new appearance outside- didn’t know anything about the place. I had the Spicy Italian Pizza, and it was very good. Their tomato sauce is made in-house and is incredibly tasty. The waitress was very attentive and kept my stocked with Coke, which was the perfect pairing for the pizza. The place was packed, and people were having a great time.

This was our first time here. We came about a half hour before close on Christmas Eve and were still treated warmly. Mindy, our server was awesome!
So the pizza........ it was very delicious! The crust was crispy around the edges and full of cheese and sauces in the middle, the pepperoni tasted fresh. It wasn't all dough like the other Detroit style "deep dish" pizza places. This is definitely on our favorites list!!!!
