Review Rio Grand Steakhouse - Grand Rapids

Best steak house around. All items are consistently seasoned and cooked to perfection and the staff is always on top of it. Their drinks are expertly mixed- never too weak nor too strong and to top it off, the bread is always served fresh and warm. I have not been able to find this level of quality at any other steak house in the area and cannot recommend them enough.

It's been a couple years since I was last here. Our waitress was fantastic. Came here for my birthday and received a substantial discount. Their complimentary french bread is really tasty. Not loaded with a bunch of seasoning. The whipped butter that goes with it is really good too as it's denser than like Logan's but healthier. I ordered the surf & turf requesting perch as my choice of fish. The fish was a little small for the portion size but fried lightly, which is good. Lastly, the steak being medium was cooked to perfection. Overall I missed the good Ole' Rio Grandé as this is the only one left.

I saw this place on google and the passed by it in person. Decided to give it a try when I was back in town. It is a nice establishment. The decor is kind of old west ranch style. I liked the nostalgia. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. The food was good especially the mash with gravy. Our waitress gave us extra bread to take home before we left. She was a very sweet woman. I would try it again.

I have to tell you that the salad that comes with the dinner as a side is the BEST side salad you will get anywhere. The food is always cooked right. Its a Little expensive and the kids menu also is So it's a date night place for my family.

Good food, good service, and good sized portions. I ordered my steak medium and got well done, and my friend ordered a ribeye medium well and it was well done also and very chewy. That was the only downside.

Great place for a gradeschool reunion. The service was very efficient and fast considering the group. They include the tip for large groups, which is the practice of most restaurants. Had to take off 2 stars for the grumpy waiter but gave him some credit bcs he was training people. He probably was by himself, and he mentioned he had another group. We stayed a very very long time so I compensated him accordingly. I did feel compelled to speak to the youngsters that he was training and told them to do as he did but in a less grumpy manner! I hope he has more help now he was a good waiter.

The food was good and the service was great! You get a good portion of food. We didn't have room for dessert but the cactus flower was worth it!

I dont usually leave reviews but wanted to give a shoutout for our server Hannah. She was down to earth, honest, gave great care and attention to our meal and was forthright, even when she though my steak was cooked more than I would have liked. It was, but I’m not one to send anything back on looks alone. So after trying it, i was shocked at how tasty, tender, and juicy the prime rib was, even though it was cooked over my typical preferences (I also wanted it char-broiled, so how picky can you be when asking them to cook an already cooked steak…). She made sure I was happy with it, over-delivered on the things I said I loved (gave me extra house-dressing for the potato to take home, that stuff is ridonk), and even wrote my dad a birthday note on his to go food from us just mentioning it was his birthday. Thank you Hannah, truly top-notch service. 6 stars. My only issue was the prices, but I cant be mad. Everywhere is charging more. Way pf the world. Ive just happened to notice Rio Grand has raised their prices several times in the few years I’ve lived here. I used to be surprised at how inexpensive their prices were. Now, I’m a little surprised at how high they are. Its still worth it for a satisfying steak dinner that I don't get very often, but its become a once-a-year special occasion restaurant rather than a nice dinner with the family kind of place for me. All around, consistent, good place to have a nice hearty meal.

At supper here on May 7, 2023, as part of a crowd of 16 people. They were able to accommodate our group, with a brief wait to arrange tables. The food was excellent! Large portions, beautifully prepared. They brought out eight orders at a time, all hot and ready to eat, with the other eight orders following close behind, hot and ready to eat. Our waitress was wonderful, as well! (Sierra)! I also appreciated the professionalism of the staff, including how they were dressed! We will return!

Service was excellent. We liked the atmosphere. They give you very very generous portions. We will be back. One complaint that we did not address that evening and should have. One of us got the surf-n-turf. The steak was supposed to be medium. It was well done - no pink at all. Should have sent back because of the price. We will go back but will make sure we remind them what a medium steak is. Everything else was EXCELLENT.

It’s so good that I went into the bathroom to scream and do a happy dance. My girlfriend cuddled with me and said “Oh yes daddy if you take me there again we are getting married,” obviously we have reservations for next weekend!!

Absolutely love this place My husband got The Rio Grand Porterhouse (52$) and for how thick the steak was it was cooked perfectly for a medium rare steak. I got the chicken tenders (21$) and pickle spears (12$) and both were absolutely amazing. We couldn't have gotten better food & service anywhere else & now my husband has a new favorite steak house. It is a bit pricey but it is 100% worth the price.

Chose this place for Christmas Dinner with my Aunts, actually Christmas Eve Eve Dinner lol. I wanted a Good Steak from not a chain. I ordered the Bacon Wrapped Filet Mignon, with Garlic Mashed Potatoes and Onion Rings. I also added on a 1/3 rack of ribs. The Filet was Excellent, cooked perfectly with lots of taste. The onion rings were good, but nothing special. The Mashed Potatoes were excellent. Lastly for mine the Ribs were also excellent, fall off the bone with a very good bbq sauce. 1 of my Aunts ordered the Porterhouse steak. She stated it was Tough to cut, not very tender. However she stated once she got it cut it was very good. She also thought the Sweet Potato was excellent and her asparagus was only ok, however she prefers hers boiled not grilled so that may be why. The other Aunt got the Gorgonzola Steak. She stated it was very good. She also stated her House Salad and her Baked Potato were excellent. Just a side note the salad was very large for a side salad. Also the waitress gave us 1/2 off for the Porterhouse Steak, since it was so tough. The waitress was very nice and did a good job. I enjoyed the atmosphere here. Overall I give them 4 1/2 stars. Since I have to round it'll be 4 stars due to some small problems. Would I return? Absolutely!

FANTASTIC!!!. I was in town visiting family and we went to this steakhouse. We ended up being seated at a table next to the owner who was having dinner with her own family. She had polite conversation with us in the beginning of our meal and was very welcoming. I had ordered a strawberry daquiri which was made incorrectly and had to be remade which took twenty minutes. The owner overheard this issue and took care of paying for my drink. She was fantastic and very apologetic!!! I would go here every week if I lived in town. On top of that it was very affordable!! LOVE LOVE LOVE!!

Supposedly modeled after road houses in the West, this very large restaurant is divided into a good size bar, with booths and tables, and dining areas broken up into various sections. It's a rustic atmosphere with cowboy and old western paraphernalia everywhere, including a lot of John Wayne photos. There was no one around when we entered and we wandered into the dining room to look around. We took a seat in a small hall of booths and finally spotted a hostess. Our server showed up about ten minutes later
