Review Jolly Pumpkin Pizzeria & Brewery - Grand Rapids

Man ol man , the pizza here is so darn good. It’s definitely worth the time to find a parking spot to enjoy a slice of their pie!

Pizza was great, beer just OK but could be my taste. If you like sours and beers that taste a bit like wine this is your place. Beer is kind of expensive especially the flights. Food was great and portions were larger than expected.

I stopped in twice in the last week and sat at the bar both times. The bartenders were exceptional! They made good beer recommendations based on my taste. I loved one of the beers I sampled, and ended up taking home a vintage bottle with me! As for the food, I loved The Perfect Fried Chicken Sandwich! The slaw and pickles are my favorite combination on a fried chicken sando, and they nailed it. The dill pickle spear on the side had a good crunch and a nice spicy kick, and the curry chips were also good. Update: The Pickle Pizza is also great!

Great food! Started with candied brussel sprouts, truffled fries, and chicken wings, all very good. The truffle pizza was main dish. Yummy. Wonderful beer selection from Jolly Pumpkin and North Peak Brewery. Service was excellent! Hats off to the guys in back, great all around meal. Will come back for more.

I struggle between four and five stars for the Jolly pumpkin. Our waitress was great and she recommended the mushroom pizza. Oh my gosh it was so good I definitely want to come back and try the other pizza flavors.

I love a good sour beer and that's their specialty. I lucked out as it was $2 drafts on Tuesday when I went, which meant I could enjoy a variety of beers without worrying about racking up a big bill. I ate a pizza as well and it was delicious and filling. I didn't think I would finish it, but somehow managed as I had a nice flow of beers to accompany the meal. I'll definitely be back next time I'm in Grand Rapids.

It has a great atmosphere and is warm. We had the truffle oil fries, the best fries that I have ever had. I had the figgy pudding cocktail, best fallish drink! We had a great time for date night here.

Love the unique pizzas here (as well as the classics)! The pizza is Neapolitan style with a thinish chewy but crispy crust and it’s just amazing. My favorite pizza is the Bridge Street Vegan (roasted balsamic veggies, hummus, and kale chips on top) and my husband loves the South Pacific (candied pineapple, fresh jalapeño, black sesame seeds, pickled onion). Salads are also great too. There are just so many great options here and you can’t go wrong! And they always have seasonal cocktails which are amazing and well crafted.

Halloween at Jolly Pumpkin🎃 They had a specialty menu for Halloween. They had a blackened “dead sticks”, the crust has charcoal powder in it. We got the “truffle” and the “fire and smoke” pizzas. Both were so tasty. Our absolute favorite pizzas are the “south pacific” and the “pickle” pizzas. For Halloween they had a vegan ube flavored cheesecake. It was very enjoyable and had an excellent texture. One piece of advice: I really wish they’d had something going on for Halloween that wasn’t food based. I was surprised how quiet it was at the time. We called in advance and was so excited to come by after being greeted by a lovely person on the phone being so fun and lively. I figured if anywhere was going play up the spooky theme, it’d be JP. We loved the food but was hoping for a bit more engagement for the holiday

I absolutely love the Jolly Pumpkin and any time I am in the area I make it a point to stop. Awesome selection of craft beers and the food is equally as good. Staff are professional and helpful. We were looking for other breweries in the area that may not be as well known and they suggested a few places to check out.

Probably the BEST pizza I’ve ever had! Wings I’d like a little crispier but still tasty! Great, friendly service, fun atmosphere.

Our service was great!! Our waiter was so funny!! I had the Mac and cheese, which had good flavor, it was just a bit bland. Over all, not bad.

Admittedly, I have yet to dine in at this location of the Jolly Pumpkin (I've dined in in Traverse City). I have gotten take out about 5x from this location. The food is wonderful and their portion sizes are large for the price (I recently added a side order of fries and it was much larger than I expected for $5). My son ordered the kids pepperoni pizza and had plenty for leftovers. I had the grain bowl and really enjoyed it, there was enough for both my husband and I to split (I just asked them to do double rice and no farro as I'm GF). Definitely would order from here again, and maybe dine in for a date night!

Good location, nice setup. Plenty of seating and nice L-shaped bar. Staff allows and patrons use the side (emergency exit) door by the bar and the cold air rushes over everyone sitting at the bar and close tables. The management and staff should be more clear and firm about that door, we know most people only think about themselves. Beers and sours offerings are extensive and very good. North Peak beers are outstanding in my opinion. I had the fried chicken sandwich, and this was very good (nicely spiced) but the chicken was about a third smaller than the bun. Curry chips were tasty. There were many other offerings that I will be back to try.

Got the South Pacific pizza on gluten free dough, their GF beer and dry cider. A+++

I've never had a bad visit to Jolly Pumpkin! The food is great and there is a wide selection of beer. While the sours are the feature, fear not if you do not like sours - they have plenty of other styles of beers including some from other breweries. Outdoor and indoor seating is nice and the staff are always friendly and fast.

Some friends and I made it to the soft opening last night. We crushed food. Literally ordered half the menu between the four of us. And it was all amazing. The crew is so friendly. The beers were all great. Grand Rapids is lucky to have this spot for a quick beer and a bite, or a session at the big community tables in back. Great spot!!!

So this is the best pizza in GR, hands down. If you need the best service as well in this magnificent town, just come down because John, Anthony and Sierra. These folks are beyond friendly and I would be back for them, just on service alone. Do myself AND yourself a favor and get down here. Everyone is family.

Great job with the space. Great food and great beer. Staff is on point. Great soft opening event last night!

I've only ever been to the Old Mission location, but I really enjoyed the GR location! Ordering at the counter was actually kind of nice so you can have a nice, uninteruptted dinner. The staff was awesome, quick to help, and did a great job. The menu was smaller than the other location, but I still had a hard time deciding what to get. My grilled chicken pizza was amazing! The beer was great (as always). I'll definitely be back! I only wonder what it would be like on a busy night if someone were to order food and then not find a table. Hopefully that doesn't happen!

Delicious food and great brew list. We had the fried chicken sandwich and Turkey and gouda, both kick ass.

I bet the pizza is great, but we had the chicken sandwich...which we learned never to get again. It was probably a $6 sandwich for $13. My fiance' a day later is still upset that the side salad was ONLY lettuce and dressing for $3.50. We decided we will try it again and get a pizza instead.

Food was good but too pricey for what we got. You order at the counter and they bring your order to the table. For the price I think they should take your order at the table. I had the JP burger a Coke and a side salad my husband had the fish burger and a side salad and a Coke. Our bill was $48. Too many other choices downtown with a better value.

Not my kind of place. I like to actually be waited on at a restaurant at the table, not have to order my food at the counter, get my own water, plates and silverware. And it was also extremely noisy to where everyone was literally shouting to hear each other. Not my idea of enjoyment. On a positive note, The tuna melt was great.
Joy Bartnick
The staff is phenomenal!! The food is SO good!! And their house made craft cocktails and beer selection is fanfreakingtastic!! Have the Tuna Melt and Gilligan’s Girl, cheers 🍻
Joshua Odekirk
I love the counter service style, very efficient! The space is beautiful and the beers are killer. Courtney was amazing, she really knows her stuff. I can't wait to come back!
Brittany Wenzel
I’ve been here a few times and the food is always super good! Although I’m not a huge beer fan, the cocktails are strong & the staff is always knowledgeable and really friendly. :)

Excellent restaurant, bar. Lots of fun lots of good selection good food. Great staff. Just an FYI The waitstaff really doesn’t take your orders. Must go up to the order windows for that.
Sandra June Walker
Love the atmosphere and aesthetics. Staff was great and the food was incredible. I love that they also have North Peak beer on tap.
Michael J Shaw
Artisanal pizzas are great, the South Pacific with fresh jalapenos and candied pineapple is a must. I've always loved their sours and the B.B.A. Madrugada Obscura is definitely a new favorite. The counter service allowed a nice uninterupted date night....will absolutely be back. A welcome addition to the West Side.
Joe Wall
The beer was good i had bombballo Nice atmosphere did not eat maybe next I do not care for the self service line

Never had Jolly Pumpkin before and was never a big fan of sours. However, I was surprised at how much I enjoyed their beers. Good food too, and pretty unique design on how to order. I haven't been there when it's been busy though, so I'm not sure how quickly you'll get more beer when you order it since there is no wait staff.
Jeff Lobdell
I had a great lunch at Jolly Pumpkin today, the Pizza, Burger and Wings will all fabulous. I bet they have over 50 beers, mostly their own all on tap as well.
