Review Field & Fire Cafe - Grand Rapids

Chantelle Cook
love the amount of seating at Field and Fire. The atmosphere is really inviting, comfortable and clean. I had the jasmine fog tea - with butterfly pea (one of their winter specials) it was delicious! I tried the eggnog danish - delectable also. It was a perfect spot to sit with a friend and catch up with some cozy drinks

Beautiful space buzzing with energy on a Saturday morning. Kind staff! Ample seating! The vegan skillet was delicious, great cook on the veggies and tasty cashew cream sauce. My partner tried the vegan special and the red sauce and blue corn tortillas were phenomenal. I wish this breakfast became a regular menu item. We will definitely be coming back!!

Wow! I just had the most delicious turkey, bacon, avocado sandwich I have ever had! So fresh and flavorful, it was amazing!! The oat milk vanilla latte was off the charts delicious too. Will definitely be back even though I hate going anywhere downtown.

photos are of vegan crispy tofu sandwich. it was very tasty! not sure if pastries rotate flavors often, but if so, could you please add vegan chocolate cake or muffins or something decadent? 😍 even chocolate chip cookie would be phenomenal! chocolate is my jam. pastry options today were cranberry cake or muffin and molasses cookie. oh and their coffee is superb. 10/10!

We came for lunch although I got a breakfast dish, vegan nutcase skillet, and my friends got sandwiches. We all loved the food. It was resh and delicious, and looked great. One of my friends and I decided to try the pastries too, and weren't disappointed. My Runeberg torte was delicious, dense and moist. My friend loved the chocolate cake as well.

I like the bread in this cafe. But unfortunately, the bostok I often eat has changed. It seemed to cut costs by using bread on the bottom. Crossan, which my wife likes, also tastes different. Has the main chef changed? The atmosphere is cozy and clean, I like it. The following is my wife's opinion. I love bread very much - in particular, croissants are my favorite. I will never forget the first time I had an almond croissant at this cafe after moving to Grand Rapids. Best one in my life! But the one I had last week seemed to be a day old. The texture inside was like any typical croissant from any other supermarket.

The staff is very friendly , the location is very spacious. Their breads are excellent , had them before at farmers market. Croissant is flaky & buttery. Nice pastry offerings and breads.

My favorite place in downtown Grand Rapids:) I love their coffees. Because I eat only halal, I can find vegetarian options for lunch there with no issues. It is walking distance from GRRC where I work.

Field & Fire Cafe was an unexpected surprise. Having been through for coffee several times while showing condos on Monroe, I was aware of this spot but hadn’t actually sat down to take more of it in. The pastries were so amazing they were devoured before I had a chance to snap photos, so standby for more. If you stop in, get a few pastries with your coffee…hungry or not. You won’t regret it. What I was completely unprepared for was the breakfast. This isn’t a hosted restaurant where you’re sat down and taken care of by one person, you order at the counter and sit down, so the fast-food style order of things didn’t prepare me for what was to come. I ordered eggs benedict and they knocked it out of the park. The food was delivered to our table within a couple minutes and everything was cooked to perfectly. Oh, and the coffee is FANTASTIC.

Great service! Friendly staff! And amazing food with vegan, vegetarian, and gluten-free options. We now have a Sunday morning breakfast spot.

We stopped in for breakfast Sunday morning and the cafe was not busy. The barista that we ordered from was very friendly, seemed to enjoy her job, and made some good suggestions for breakfast. We ordered cappuccinos, the biscuit sandwich, and French toast made from sugar croissant pastries. The sandwich and drinks were delicious. The French toast was pretty much the best thing I have eaten in a long time. It was fabulous!! We stopped and bought pastries on the way out, those were delicious as well. We will definitely be back!

Had lunch here today with the owner, Shelby Kibler. Such great people and a really cool space...it's like walking into a piece of art; the sights, sounds, smells, taste - it's a full sensory experience. I got the Jive Turkey with gouda and apples on their house-made bread...very good, definitely recommend! I also got a hot cup of coffee...I usually don't drink my coffee black, but it smelled and tasted so good it seemed like a shame to ruin it with cream and sugar. :)

I just went to F&F this morning for a croissant. The woman behind the counter was so kind and sneakily put an extra treat in my to go bag because I had never tried it before! Everything was delicious and the service was great. Thanks so much for making my day.

I love everything about this place! The food is amazing- the French pastries Marco is creating is to die for and the bread best in at least Michigan! The service is great, too- super nice, helpful, friendly people!

Fresh, local ingredients, always served with a unique Flair and flavoring. Have been there numerous times, and has always been good, we have never been disappointed. Very fair pricing for the portion size and uniqueness of recipe

The food here is like a cross between the comfort of grandma's home cooking and the explosion of the grand finale fireworks on the 4th of July (explosive). The kitchen staff pay attention to detail with precision! This is one of the "wonders of Grand Rapids".

Field & Fire Cafe at 820 Monroe NW, y'all! Excellent breakfast and lunch options that are unlike any other breakfast lunch options. Open at 6am - 3 weekdays. 8-3 weekends. GO!

Delicious food. Had the grilled cheese and loved it. My girlfriend who is vegetarian raved about the French lentil soup. We are both coffee snobs and the Americano and macchiato are soooo good! Yum! The coffee alone will bring us back. Vegan fudge bar was rich and great to share between 4 after a lovely meal.

This place is always delicious and from scratch cooking with as local and organic ingredients as possible! They have delicious coffee & coffee drinks, pastries and all the rest. Wish they were open later in the day but for now...delicious for morning and lunch!

Amazing almond croissants, and the best coffee I've ever had!!

Excellent bread and pastries as you'd expect if you know their bakery from the Downtown Market. Desperate for some F&F pastries and good coffee I stopped at the cafĂŠ as it was before 9am, a ridiculously late time for the Downtown Market to open. I ordered a coffee listed as 12oz, and got one filling half of an 8oz to-go cup. So now I have the choice of large coffee drinks and inferior pastries, or stellar pastries and tiny coffees.

I've only eaten the baked goods and pastries. The vegan chocolate muffin is amazing but way too rich to eat regularly. I would like to see vegan options that aren't chocolate in the pastry case/baked goods especially in the form of muffins. Otherwise very pleased with service and environment.

My favorite place to purchase croissants, macrons and everything delicious.

First time here and it was delicious. Perfect coffee. Had the avocado toast topped with an egg. Really good, quick service, very clean

I have always liked their product though I didnt frequent the market location. I was asked to go try out their new cafe and I sure am glad that I did! I drive 20 mins out of my way to have their delicious mocha, avocado toast, generator, soup, and the vegan hot mess skillet. The cafe has great vegan options, friendly staff/management, clean & warm atmosphere, and those macaroons are out of this world. A must try

Wow! I was in Grand Rapids for a doctor appointment and my mother asked me to stop at Field and Fire for some sweets and she also wanted a ham and cheese croissant. I ordered the new Valentine macaron, an Opera cake, the caramel chocolate tart, a package of little meringue cookies, and the croissant. Everything was absolutely delicious. I am so happy with everything. The two girls who helped me were very helpful and so nice! Thank you for recommending the opera cake! It was phenomenal! I could taste all of the flavors and the texture was perfect!! Can't wait to come back!!
