The Candied Yam - Grand Rapids - Photo album

The Candied Yam delightful southern cuisine is my new go to place for delicious home cooked southern food in Grand Rapids. Located on the south west side of town in a strip mall, it is a bit hard to find, but worth the effort! We tried multiple of the meats and sides, and we’re not disappointed in
I'm here to testify if you are ever in Grand Rapids and wish for a great home cooked meal, like Grandma use to make 😋. Stop into Candied Yams. The food was excellent the price was even better. I can't get enough. I'm not one to rant and rave about much but I swear on everything you love. You will be
I really enjoyed the perch, green beans(overcooked)and candied yams I ordered. I'm no longer able to eat greens or black eyed peas, but I had a little taste and they were delicious. The peach cobbler was good, too. Cornbread was great, but cold. It would have been 5 stars if warm. I usually don
Just a favorite place. Staff is personable, food is great. Really satisfies the cravings for someone like me who is from out of town. It has a “home away from home feel” - also plenty of veggie options if there are any non meat eaters in your party. The always have events featured on their screens a
Absolutely delish! We split the 2 meat and 2 sides entree for $13.99. I got meatloaf and mac & cheese and my hubs got the smothered pork chop with cabbage. The Mac&Cheese was so good! The pork chop was a bit grissly/fatty, but it has amazing flavor from the light breading and gravy. The meatloaf was
Was a recommendation from a friend, the food was incredible. I took it to go and destroyed it in my car because I couldn't help myself. The chicken was the perfect amount of crispy and juicy, the mashed potatoes were some of the best I ever had, lastly the yams were incredible.
Wow! Catfish and perch are amazing! The food alone is a 5 but what puts it over the top is the service. The ladies there are sooo nice! Keith Lee needs to visit GR and this place!
I just got food from the Candied Yam for the first time. I got fried chicken and mashed potatoes with gravy. The chicken was delicious, not too heavily breaded and the seasoning was very good. I will definitely be back to try the perch next time! I also feel like the price is very fair for the amoun
I visited The Candied Yam for the first time recently. Very impressed with the food and service! I loved the fried chicken and Mac and Cheese!
Was in the area and googled this spot. Absolutely no regrets. Everything tasted good and was more reasonably proced than other soul food restaurants in the area. Will definitely be back again when I am in town.
AMAZING!!! Wasn't sure what to expect but am incredibly impressed! Real down-home cooking and the catfish was to die for!! The staff treated us like family and even though we split a meal we both walked out with full bellies! I feel like the Terminator because "I'll be BACK!"
After moving from North Carolina some years ago, I have not been able to find GOOD soul food. Everything has been decent-average. The Candied Yam meet and beat my expectations. The Collards were delicious, the catfish was superb, and the candied yams brought me back to family owned soul food restaur
Everything was hot and fresh. The restaurant is so cozy looking and the employee (I didn't catch her name) was very friendly. Only issue is my eyes were bigger than my stomach lol. Will be back.
I have been visiting this location since they opened. The food is always fresh and piping hot, and the service is always friendly!
Cannot recommend this place enough! The customer service was incredible from top to bottom and everything we had was delicious! Its aways great to be able to support a Black owned business as well.
We're from Kalamazoo, been there a couple of times. We really really enjoyed the food. And the Staff even remembered Us. GREAT FOOD I've already spreaded the word.
