Wonderful atmosphere and staff. My son and I had a visit from Oscar while there who has been working for Maggie for 23 years. Oscar invited my son and his Spanish classmates from Grand Valley State University for a special get together at the restaurant.
Food was authentic. Being from Texas it is hard to find decent Mexican food in Michigan and I will continue to return to Maggie's Restaurant while in town visiting my son at college.

We love this place. The best Menudo and Barbacoa in Michigan. Maggie's is a family run joint that has been serving Grand Rapids for over 40 years. From the weekday business crowd at lunch, to the weekend filled with families out for breakfast or lunches.
You know the place is good when you see Mexican grandpas eating here. Service is cafeteria style, with a very busy kitchen.
Fantastic tortillas too, fresh made from Milagros.
There are many great places for Mexican food in Grand Rapids. However the food at Maggie's Kitchen is in my opinion the best. Seating is limited and the hours are limited. But if you are in the Bridge Street area and it's open it's worth the stop.
Edit: I was just informed that the hours are not so limited as before. My apologies and that just makes it easier to stop in for the great food.

This is such a clean, bright cheerful Mexican restaurant. My tostadas came quickly, just as I ordered them and super delicious!
Great place to eat! Staff is friendly and the food is hands down BEST in not only GR but the whole state!! The beans and rice are perfection and every taco that I’ve tried so far was delicious and was stuffed with meat! A new fan and customer right here!!
Not exactly sit down service but they do bring food to you. Very friendly and huge portions. Plenty of seating and very friendly staff. The food was delicious, I have been there for breakfast a few times and haven't been disappointed
I’ve driven by Maggie’s many times...I never noticed it as it’s rather nondescript. Inside you’re transported to Mexico - the staff was friendly and the food was up fast.
I got a wet burrito and a taco - too much food! Both items were stuffed with meat. I had the barbacoa and a spicy pork, though neither had any spice I could detect. Some salsa and sour cream added nicely to the experience.
With generous portions, an authentic Mexican feel, and a friendly staff, I highly recommend you try it out!
This place is amazing! It’s authentic and affordable Mexican food. The burritos were my favorite but the guacamole came in a close second! The food is definitely fresh to order and would definitely recommend to anyone wanting some real Mexican food in GR

I definitely see myself coming back for more! A staple of GR for delicious Mexican home style cooking. I had the huevos rancheros and it hit the spot. Go with the green salsa.

Amazing food! It was 5 stars WAY before all these other restaurants moved in as they've supported that neighborhood in good times and bad. Their Barbacoa is literally the best in this country. Closest I've found was in Texas. Absolutely the best people and best food around! Unfortunately, we don't live close to them anymore but I stop any time I'm near!

I absolutely love the tostadas. The food at Maggie’s is amazing. I wish they were open later. I think they need to sell a cookbook of their recipes.
