Review Maru Sushi Bridge Street - Grand Rapids

They were able to make a basic ramen with tofu when I asked and it was very good! They also have so so many different sushi options with a good variety of them being vegan/veg. Service was a bit slow, there was only one other party there.

Good sushi spot in downtown GR. The server was nice and helpful with good recommendations! Food didn’t take long at all to be served. If you are not a sushi expert then it might be a challenge to choose one that you are not familiar with since the options come with many toppings.

Definitely a great tasting sushi) did a takeaway, took a bit of time to prepare with a couple of large groups in the restaurant. It is pricier then some of the other places in the area, but a really good sushi and a few great vegan options!

I enjoyed most of the sushi. Some of them were just okay. It’s definitely more pricer, but it’s more upscale. The soju lemonade was delicious, we got a couple rounds of those. Friendly service!

Everything about lunch here was great! My boyfriend and I were able to walk from our hotel on Pearl St NW, the staff and our server were friendly, and the food was incredible. We were both very happy with the sushi we ordered.

We usually go to the Cherry St location but we're closer to this one so made a reservation for Sat night online. I needed to add +2 and called and it was no problem. Food was delicious as always. Service was good. Food came out a little slower than usual but we aren't usually here on a Sat night either. Good stuff! I'd come back if in the area for sure.

Nick, our bartender and server was excellent and handled our special requests. We didn't see nigiri on the menu but requested it and they went above and beyond to deliver some amazing sushi. He also suggested the soy and dragon rolls and they were also enjoyable. We liked everything about our experience and highly recommend it to any sushi lover.

Went on a first date to Maru and everything about it was absolutely amazing. Our food was incredible, our drinks were amazing, and our waitress, Rachel, was absolutely the best. We both will be back for another date night in the future.

Great Asian food (check); interesting dining experience (check); amazing mouth-watering menu (check); expensive (double ✔️)....but worth it. I'm not much for tea but u gotta try the black jasmine tea...yes, it's $6 but worth it. Staff friendly but overworked, bathroom clean, atmosphere very trending.

This is turning into one of my favorite places to eat. Very good ramen, pad Thai, and sushi. The staff are all very friendly and helpful. There is a lot of seating, and I usually have no issues getting a seat. The ambiance is great. Super modern, but it still feels warm. The have a really great bar too.

From the minute I walked in, my service was impeccable. The hostess was very kind and punctual. My server was knowledgeable and personable. She made some fantastic suggestions and we waited for nothing. We started with a few appetizers such as the yellow tail crudo, edamame, and wasabi hummus. All were delicious, but that yellow tail crudo was out of this world. The Asian vinegar dressing was drinkable, the fish so tender. This is a standout dish which will keep me returning. Our server suggested that we try a family style dinner, each ordering something for the table to share. It was perfect because we all had our eyes on multiple dishes. We settled on a noodle dish (Pad Thai,) a meat dish (Bulgogi Beef,) and a rice dish (Bibimbap.) Yeah, I said it...Bi-bim-bap. This dish was phenomenal. We chose to go with it sizzling in a stone bowl. Take my word for it and do it. The sunny side up egg broken over the rice, along with the veggies and whatever protein you choose, is the merriest of medleys in your mouth. The Bulgogi Beef had great texture and flavor. The Pad Thai was also no joke. We chose to go with medium spice and it was perfect. Such a generous portion with all of the flavors complimenting each other. It had me at peanuts and crushed red pepper. I was there with two of my friends for a belated birthday dinner. As soon as our server caught wind of this, she immediately offered us dessert. I was more than full, but who says no to dessert? Shortly after, a plate arrived at our table with a sampling of all of Ando's desserts. We were able to try a little of everything and the only thing left to say is...try the brownie.

I want to say I like Ando Asian Kitchen, but I can’t. When I heard Maru was opening a new kind of restaurant downtown I got ecstatic. Within one week of opening I went in to dine. We ordered some tea, spicy edamame, the seafood pancake, the shrimp pad thai, and the bibimbap. The tea and edamame were good but the entrees were a different story. The seafood pancake at first taste is fresh tasting but once biting into the bell peppers there’s an imbalance of flavor. It also has big chunks of green onions which made it hard to eat the way it’s presented. The shrimp pad thai was bland and dry. The bibimbap was a disaster, the vegetables used in this bibimbap took away from what a hearty bowl of bibimbap is. The meat in the bibimbap was bland, the rice had the texture and taste of Minute-Rice, and the gochujang sauce tasted rubbery and barely spicy. The concept of reimagined comfort food is great, but poorly executed at Ando Asian Kitchen. It feels like there’s always something missing from each dish, and you can’t feel any heart put into it.

first off thet automatically add 10% tip, they do warn you twice when you sit down so not a surprise. The menu is very limited I asked if was the regular menu or the art prize menu, I was told "no it is the regular menu but we are of a bar with food, we didn't even have sushi last week". Would have been good to know before we came for dinner. My son ordered a sushi for an appetizer and it came with his meal. Our meals came 3 and 4 minutes later all 3 meals brought by different servers. Sushi was better then the food but still just ok. The 3 of us all had leftovers and all decided we didn't need to carry them out. Ramem had 4 cubes of beef, spicy pork had small pieces throughout and one huge fatty piece, Pad Thai had a real small amount of chicken cubes. We usually would give a restuartant a second.try but with the very limited menu it would be tough.

I don't know why this place is getting lower ratings. Today's lunch was absolutely incredible. My bf and I tried the beef ramen, sleeping bear roll (vegetarian), and Vietnamese chicken salad. All three were delicious. If you have had ramen before in a restaurant this beef ramen is pretty standard. Sleeping bear came with a delicious sauce and was a wonderfully light roll. The Vietnamese chicken salad was our absolute FAVORITE. We will come back just for this. It was similar to a coleslaw with chicken and came with these delicious ultra light sesame chips/crackers. I also tried a pumpkin spice cocktail I saw advertised on their fb page a week ago. It was also incredible and I would highly recommend. My bf and I are huge foodies and go out often. We like ando even better than her sister restaurant, Maru.

The food and staff were amazing! Our server was super helpful especially with me being a vegetarian. My family and I tried almost everything the menu had to offer and loved it all! Definitely a place to come try out in GR. Cannot wait for our next visit.

Great drinks, excellent food and kind staff! I brought my out of town family to try Ando and the gyoza, bibimbap, sushi rolls and pad Thai were delicious! A very diverse menu will satisfy all cravings for Asian fare.

Our waitress, Haley, was great. Warm soup on a cold day was perfect with ramen noodles and a bit of spice. The “deck” was the perfect temperature. Highly recommend!

I was in for lunch on Monday and absolutely LOVED my edamame and pork ramen ($10 on Mondays!). I also got the brownie dessert and enjoyed every bite of it. Zach was my server and did an incredible job! He was very well versed on the menu and made an effort to connect with me. Gold star for you, Z!

Great Ramen 🍜 with amazing portions! Had plenty to take home after a really filling meal! I ordered the Ando Beef Ramen and the House salad and wish I could live closer to eat here more!!! Our waitress was still attentive and really nice despite training a new waitress! Would definitely recommend!

Ando is the best! Great lunch specials too. Rick the manager is so nice and welcoming. They are great neighbors to have on the WestSide of the river! I've been eating here like once a week the past couple months since they added the sushi to the menu.

Check this place out! Beautiful restaurant with an amazing selection of cocktails. Read the little story about why the chefs/creators made the restaurant in the libations menu. I tried the south Philly, the monetary, the sleeping bear and the shrimp pad Thai. As a pescatarian I loved the sushi, especially the sleeping bear. The egg and the size of the noodles was my favorite part of the pad Thai, along with the juicy shrimp. Everything was super fresh and delicious. The portions are doable for sharing, so I'd say bring a friend and get some things to eat together. Or order everything and take home left overs...Ha! I'll definitely be going back to try the bibimbap in their stone bowl and wasabi hummus :9

Ordered the vegetarian pad thai tofu and asked for the peanut sauce since the normal one had fish sauce. The waitress failed to mention it to the chef and I was served a fish sauce dish. This may not be a big deal to some but what if it were an allergy and not just a preference/lifestyle? I would not come back here. The peanut pad thai tofu was probably the worst I have ever had.

I have been in Grand Rapids a long time. Never had better ramen than Ando’s. The stone bowl is amazing too. So is the bulgogi beef. In fact I have never had any dish I don’t like at Ando’s! I have got both my girls into ramen too.

Maru, and Ando are exquisite places to dine merely based on Rick, the GM! He always remembers me when I go to one of the restaurants and is always overly accomadating! For those who have posted low reviews, I strongly encourage you to talk to Rick about your experience, and then go back and try it again. Rick will ensure that you have a totally different experience. His hospitality and dedication to constantly making improvements is the biggest reason why I dine at these restaurants!! Before you leave a bad review, ask for Rick! I promise you he will take care of you to his best ability. 5 stars always. 👍🏼

Great service. Wonderful sushi rolls. Was in a lunch rush and we were taken care of quickly and politely. Can’t wait to come back for dinner to enjoy some more great food with some wine.

The Lemmon Betty martini is amazing! My fav martini! the food is delicious and the service is on point!

I enjoyed my bimnibop, the tom yum soup was delicious and our server was friendly and smiled. I would say the only thing that kept my stars from 5 would be the slow service - it wasn’t very busy and our server didn’t come back often; we were on our lunch break so we were strapped for time. I’ll be back for sure!
