Hop Cat has an outsourcing reputation across Michigan for their wide variety of craft beers on tap and delicious menu items. Needless to say, the Grand Rapids location is easily the best of them all.
Pros:
- A vibrant atmosphere
- Outstanding Mac and Cheese
- The crack fries lived up to every bit of the hype
- Prompt service
- An impressive selection was of craft beers on tap
Con:
- We were carded at the door and inside, so this seemed a little obsessive
Overall, Hop Cat Grand Rapids is easily one of the best eateries in town.
Best place to go if you are looking for a late night snack and drink! Nowhere in Grand Rapids keeps their kitchen open past midnight but HopCat does! Amazing ciders and food. Also amazing bar staff! 10/10 would recommend and it’s now my new favorite spot.
HopCat is a staple in Downtown Grand Rapids. The service and food are top notch, but your not paying out of the nose for it. It's a great place to sit and have some beers before a hockey game or concert, or for that late night snack. It may be busy at times but it's worth the wait.
This place is so fun! We sat in a booth that was huge and roomy. Very comfortable. We liked the decor and the layout of the restaurant. There was a lot to admire during our meal.
We each had the strawberry basil and jalapeño mango margaritas and enjoyed them. I ordered the OG fries and roasted red pepper soup. Both were tasty. My companion ordered the vegan tacos and said they were good.
Came in tonight with my family and the server Danielle was extraordinary. Incredibly personable, and attentive. Had the Nashville chicken sandwich and added a side of mac (she said I could substitute for the fries, but if you know you know, the fries are crazy good), and everything came out perfect. Everyone else said their food was amazing and we had the gingerbread cheese cake trifle dessert. SO GOOD! Don't miss out!
An excellent place for pub style food. This time we got the wings and cosmic (crack) fries. I can speak highly of the burgers, fish and chips, and mac n cheese from past experiences. For those that enjoy craft beer there is a large selection of craft beers, ciders, and meads on draft.
The service was surprisingly slow for the low level of customers sitting inside. Our lunch visit was over an hour while similar lunches elsewhere are under an hour. Great if you have time for a leisurely meal not for a quick in and out bite.
Was busy before the concert. Many people waiting for table saying a 45 min wait. We waited maybe 15 min. Atmosphere was warm and friendly. Food and drinks came quickly.. They were on the ball getting us in and out ontime. Fries were great! Needed 2 hands for the burger. It tasted as good as it looked..maybe could have used more sauce. I would recommend this place...
Had dinner with some friends here and had a great meal. The burgers were good…but the fries were GREAT. Can’t recommend those comic fries enough. Definitely suggest getting extra to share!
I wish I could rate higher!!! This was probably the best dining experience i’ve had anywhere in Grand Rapids. Despite it being quite a busy Saturday night, we were seated almost immediately, and our server was there in less than two minutes for a drink order. On that note, I can’t speak highly enough of our waitress, Lexi. Even with the restaurant as busy as it was, she was so attentive and took a genuine interest in my wife and I. We mentioned that we were coming from out of town and had never been to HopCat, and she suggested the Cowboy burger. I got that and thoroughly enjoyed it. Cooked to perfection and assembled with care. My wife had the Bbq chicken salad and loved it as well, everything was fresh and it came with plenty of toppings. The chats we had with Lexi were some of the most genuinely enjoyable talks I’ve had with someone I had just met. I’ll be recommending this place along with Lexi to anyone considering dining in downtown gr.
Solid bar, I prefer the OG downtown Grand Rapids location, it has a bit more character and charm. I usually belly up to the bar but there’s also a nice little patio (seasonal). This time I had the supper club wrap, tasty as always. Btw if you join their rewards club they send you a reward for a free entree each year.
The food was so good!! I had the Brisket Tacos & was happily surprised with the taste, texture, and how the aromatic top notes... Kidding.
But it really was delicious. Crispy, but soft.
The service was exceptional. Not only was our server perfect, but another server delivered an appetizer to the wrong table.
Ours. That was pretty tasty too.
Food was wonderful. Hayley was our server. And she never let our drinks run out. Had great knowledge about the menu. Fabulous experience overall. Definitely will return.
