Review The Pit Stop - Grand Rapids

I honestly did not want to post this picture because it is my left overs but hats off to this place for providing me two meals. The Mac and cheese and the spicy tots (might be called “angry tots”) came in mounds! The pulled pork also came in abundance. Believe it or not, I ate half of the pork. I am a first timer ringing the gong, but I highly recommend catching lunch here! Happy eating!

The Pit Stop catered our son's high school graduation open house and it was a big hit for all of our guests. We ordered brisket, pulled pork, baked beans, cheesy tots, and cole slaw. Hayden arrived on time and took great care setting up the food and explaining a few details to us. When our older children graduated, we prepared the food ourselves, but it was so much more relaxing to have it all taken care of for us (including silverware, napkins, plates). It let me focus on my son and our guests instead of having to deal with food preparation. Thanks for the great food and service!

We had Pit Stop cater our wedding and it was the easiest decision we made in the wedding planning process. The food was incredible!!! Matt serviced at the wedding and he did an amazing job. All the guests were so impressed with the food and are still talking about it almost two months later. Thank you for everything!!

Matt catered our wedding 8/27 providing our guest with delicious Brisket, Smoked chicken, macaroni, and cheesy potatoes! The food would absolutely immaculate, steaming hot, presentation beautiful as well! Matt also such a great help to us throughout the entirety of the event. This guy even took time out to get elderly guest beverages, which was not something he was there for. He ensured me and my bride was taken care of and well fed throughout dinner. We can not be more happy that we were able to have pit stop cater our event! They absolutely killed it, I would give them 10/5 stars if I could! Thank you Matt for the great food and service! For Michigan, pretty great bbq. It's wonderfully affordable, there are lots of options, and the service is very good. Only thing I would mention is that a good portion of the food does have at least a little bit of a kick. So, fair warning to those who are particularly sensitive to that. However, the flavor is excellent. By far one of my favorite things were the corn cakes. I'm a sucker for good, sweet cornbread, and these did not disappoint in the slightest.

We recently used Pit Stop to cater a dinner for a hockey team. The gods was terrific, portions were quite generous. The service was even better with the team staying late so we could pick up the food after closing, along with loaning us a storage box to transport and keep things warm. Just an excellent overall experience, if we play in the area again will come back to Pit Stop.

The food is AMAZING! Great price! Fast set up! Our employees enjoyed their Christmas luncheon! Will definitely be using them again!

Located in a strip mall by Pal's Diner. This is a small place with no inside seating and a couple of picnic tables outside. Kind of like Subway where you order on one side and pay on the other. Just 1 warning they are only open on Thursday & Friday! I ordered the 2 meat platter: Brisket and Pulled Pork. It comes with 2 sides: I got Mac n Cheese and Smokey Beans. Plus it comes with a Cornbread Muffin. Both the Brisket and Pulled Pork were very good, however in my opinion the Pulled Pork was by far the best. Pork was top 5 and Brisket Top 10. The Mac n Cheese was ok, not great. The Smokey Beans were very good. Not in my top 5, but very good. The Cornbread was excellent. This was in my top 5. Lastly the bbq sauce was Amazing, One of the best I've ever had. Easily in my top 5. I also got an Apple Cobbler with a Caramel Bourbon Sauce on top. It was very yummy. Overall a 4 1/2 star experience. The sides mean I can't round up so sadly that means the rating becomes a 4. Will I be back? Yes, good bbq is hard to find and a Great BBQ Sauce is even harder! I went back today and had the Meatloaf with Baked Beans and Polish Mashed Potatoes. Wow. The Meatloaf was excellent. The Polish Mashed Potatoes are outrageous. Easily in Top 5 best Mashed Potatoes I've ever had. Awesome! The beans were much improved and very good. Corn Muffin is still excellent. I even bought a bottle of their bbq sauce. This is now my new #1 bbq place in Grand Rapids. Sorry Slows I still love you, but Pit Stop is better. Upgrading rating to 5 stars. See ya soon Pit Stop.

Updated menu + prices, delicious and large portioned. Has outdoor seating in summer time, no seating inside. Could order right away at 1pm on a Thursday.

Glad I stopped by Pit Stop today. More food than I could eat in one sitting. Brisket had a great smoke ring, tender and flavorful. This is the $12 platter and there is enough for two meals. You can tell the BBQ sauce, beans and mac & cheese are all homemade. Cant wait to go back

Great choices, great price, enthusiastic staff, amazing food, selection of sauces but with the juices in the meat you don't need them (but if you try to them the spicy is an impressive sizzle in your mouth without being too hot). This is what BBQ is about! Don't forget the Mac and Cheese, potatoes, beans, cornbread. LIKE ARNOLD SAID - "I'LL BE BACK"

Walked in the door just as the chorus to "Heaven is a place on earth" started playing (not sure if this actually happened, but it's how I'm choosing to remember this experience and I have no interest in being corrected). Brisket was tender, smoky, and plentiful. Green beans and coleslaw were crisp, fresh and perfectly flavored. I'm thrilled to have finally found a BBQ joint in West MI on the same level of the places I frequented during my years spent in North FL!

Food: 5+++ stars, Service: 4 stars (see below) Seating: Be ready to fight for a seat at one of the few picnic tables Food: This is a friggin outstanding barbeque spot. They dish out large servings of brisket, pulled pork, chicken and sausage. I've taken several friends and coworkers here and we've all be raves how good EVERYTHING was. Highly recommend the Brisket Wraps. If your so luck, they occasionally have a smoked corned beef Reuben wrap. Oh..and plan to bring the kids home a 6 pack of their AMAZING corn bread muffins. They go nuts for them 💥💥 Service: Because they are only open Thursday and Friday...the place is always slammed..no..like crazy slammed. So you need to planned ahead and plan to wait. The wait times have improved... If the place was open on Sat and wait time reduced...5 stars for sure.

I'm ranting the stars full even for atmosphere. I don't think it's fair to knock a takeout joint for atmosphere. There is a metal pig and a picnic table. Good enough for me. Food is amazing. It sells out fast. The staff and owner have no interest in answering the phone, taking reservations, etc. Go early. Eat amazing food. Take it somewhere else or hope to score that picnic table. This is how you know the food is good.

This is my second visit and could say for sure I’m hooked. Loyal customer. I recommend the…just get it all! No regrets.
