La Mexicana

My husband and I stopped in Grand Island, NE, as our 'half way point' between Minnesota and Colorado road trip and found this great little restaurant. We ordered the chimichanga (pork carnitas) and burrito (chicken) at the counter and they called our number when it was ready. The beans were the best we have ever had and the food was AMAZING. Plus, there is a salsa bar (different types of salsa, pico, limes, etc.) and freshly made tortilla chips. Their 'chip salsa' (labeled that way at the bar) and pico was seriously so good. They were definitely fresh and you can enjoy as much, or as little, as you like! I would literally drive out of my way to stop here again.

I came across this place in November 2021, by Google search. It's my second time here. It's very delicious. My husband loves it as well. There tamales are delicious and a great size but I would like more meat filling to masa, since the masa is so thick and little bit of meat. Our 15 month old is barley eating table food and he loves the beans.. which they are delicious! Portions are big and I'm always full and have leftovers which I love. Great food and prices are good!

5 stars for Mexican food in Grand Island, yum!! Portions are big and I always leave stuffed!! Mexican music reminds me of my Grandma and Grandpas place as do the beans!! Only barrier can be language when ordering but they are patient here and willing to take their time to work through it, do the same and you will be fine!!! My favorite Mexican food in Grand Island!!!
