Throwback dogs from days gone by--nice and snappy texture--grilled to perfection and the very best homemade chili--minus .5 for sometimes soggy buns--could be grilled or toasted.
Great dogs for the price and always friendly and welcoming service. I've been going here for years and they have always been great. Definitely a local favorite!!!
Great dogs, friendly service, and fun atmosphere. We will return!
So delicious I almost forgot to rate it after leaving. Ask Joey what he would get on it and you'll love it - it made me like mustard for the first time in my life- not exaggerating.
What a GOOD dog. Soft, warm bun... dog with perfect skin that "snaps" with each bite... a little mustard and delicious chili. This is the best, classic dog, in Richmond.
A few side options like coleslaw, potato salad, pasta salad and chips are the only options...
Service is instant!
My new favorite hot dog shop. I am picky about my hot dogs! This is as close as I have found to my all-time favorite at the Roanoke Weiner Stand. (That's saying a lot because I have loved that place for more than 30 years.)
Joey's makes a great hot dog, but it's a little expensive considering the size of the weiner, in my opinion. Real estate in Innsbrook, can't be cheap, though, so I understand! I'm sure he's heard it a thousand times, but I have to restate it: french fries (mmmm, crinkle cut!) would round out the meal perfectly. It's kind of weird going there for lunch or dinner and just having hot dogs. I feel like I should get the hot dogs to go then stop by Wendy's and get the fries, and that would work if there was a Wendy's nearby! (They do have chips and potato/pasta salad, though-- I haven't tried that so I can't comment/)
Best hot dogs outside of NYC. It has the characteristics of a great hot dog: crunchy skin and great flavor. You're a Communist if you don't order yours "all the way" style with mustard, onions, and chili.
A little expensive for the size dog you get.
Best hot dogs out there period. Nobody can match this place. They also have a new place in innsbrook which is great!
The Best Dogs.... Who would have thought that the Best Hot Dogs I Ever Had came from a sit-down place inside a convenience store.
Best Dogs in Richmond. Maybe the Best dogs period. Amazing dogs in an unlikely location inside the Exxon on Ridgefield parkway you will find Joey himself and his crew serving the best dogs ever. Coming from a family with a history in Hot Dogs, Joey does it right. As his sign says, step up, introduce yourself and place your order. Simply Delicious.
They were delicious and, sure enough, Adam ponied up for one more for each of us.
The service was really quick and the people were courteous! I ordered 2 of The Joey Dog “All The Way”. The hot dogs are slimmer than the ones we are normally used to but they are full of flavor. If you handle zero spice, like barely any spice, it could be a little spicy. I personally thought it was perfect.
I also got the Redskin potato salad but a lot of the potatoes I had were undercooked so it was crunchy. I’ll be ordering other sides the next time I visit. But overall, it was a nice experience and can’t wait to visit again!
Let me say this... This is what I've been looking for since 2019 since Tony's closed on Newtown Road. And I will say that it didn't disappoint! Joey and his son were very friendly and Joey even posed for a picture with me. The Joey Dog was amazing and I had a few moments of unbridled Heavenly bliss!!! The only bad thing I can honestly say about Joey's is that he is hesitant to open a spot in Norfolk. Please don't make me beg!!! Do it!!! Make me happy so I can spend some of my money!!!!! Joey is a national treasure and he should be honored and protected at all cost!!! Love you Joey!!!!
I just left Joeys hotdogs.. the owner is so friendly and respectful. The hotdogs are everything!! It’s very rare to find people who still value good food and have integrity. I will definitely come back. This spot is a hidden gem. You will not be disappointed. I went in for one hotdog and left out with three !!!!! Good quality food!!!
The cutest place ever! They have a pup theme and your food is served in doggie bowls which is simply ADORABLE. Must have their housemade onion rings and fresh cut fries. We had hotdogs too and they come dressed already from the back of the kitchen so you don’t have to waste time dressing your own! I had yellow mustard with dill relish and the bun so was soft and moist and just the perfect amount of mustard and relish. We also had the fried pickles which were delicious. They have every topping you could imagine for the dogs, from sauerkraut to chili to the “Reuben” dog that my sister had. Also have BREAKFAST sandwiches and hamburgers and pulled pork. The list goes on. Check out their menu. But absolutely order the onion rings.
Owners are hands on and take huge pride. Plenty of parking. Place is busy yet they turn out orders in a jiffy. Highly recommend.
Best dogs ANYWHERE!!
Been coming here for years, since it opened! The Joey Dog is the beat hot dog you’ll ever eat! A special dog with a snap! And the New York Hot and the Brats are just as good. Fresh homemade chili, pasta and potato salad! Simple menu but it’s fantastic. This owner is behind the grill and his dad taught him how! Perfect and fast lunch!!
Joey's Hot Dogs are always worth my trip from New Kent County. "All the way" with mustard, onions and chili! Anything else is your choice. Notice the Nehi orange drink as well. A complete lunch treat 😁.
Amazing hot dogs and great customer service. I ordered 2 Joey dogs for my first visit ever. I strongly considered returning the same day for 2 more Joey hotdogs all the way. That’s how good they were. Definitely a must try.
