Wow! Just traveling through and glad we found this place. You can't beat their prices! We ordered the vegetable tempura and it was delicious. Crispy, light, and veggies were tasty. Our sushi rolls were huge! Could only finish one! Would recommend to everyone!

We were in on a Sunday Night, Lots of take out activity but food came pretty quick and was pretty darn good for Memphis. The Hamachi was buttery good, rolls were put together well and all tasted awesome.

HUGE portions on the special rolls! Excellent value and good quality. I got the Greg's and the Marti Gras rolls (almost too much food...) and my wife got the Yaki Soba noddles with chicken. We both very much enjoyed our dinner! I'm telling you, those rolls are the most generous servings I've ever seen...

The appetizers were exquisite, I've never seen my wife finish a chicken teriyaki ever...except today...I had the sashimi dinner and it was fresh and presented beautifully. For dessert we shared the banana tempura, and instead of having a few mouthfuls the whole thing disappeared...

Pretty good. Solid sushi at Sakura. About as good as you will find in Memphis. Service was fine. Beer prices high and decor seemed cheap. Other than that, this is a go-to spot with vendors. The sushi list is pretty large and every roll I had was good. The gyoza was really good.

Simply the best rolls in town!. I would like to say "PLEASE DON'T GO HERE" but I cannot. I want to keep this gem to myself but I cannot lie. I have had sushi (I'm talking rolls here not raw fish) all over the US and I always say Sakura is hands down the best rolls anywhere! Joyce.... Marty,... Alfredo...... DJ...... oh dear I gotta go back now. If your looking for fresh sashimi (sp?) then this isn't going to compare to many high end places on the coast (though Memphis isn't known for seafood), but if you want rolls then this is the place!

I may be partial to this place just because a friend of mine is the wife of one of the partners of Sakura, but they have the best tempura and sushi in the city. You definitely get what you pay for especially for sushi. The mother roll, volcano roll, Sakura roll and the cucumber wrapped roll I think it's called naruto are all amazing. 2 rolls will feed 2 people which is extremely rare for sushi you find in memphis and they're the same price as other competitors.
Just tried it for the first time and really liked it. The Sushi was excellent as well as the service. I had the sushi lunch special and ended up taking some home. It was a lot food for the price. I will definitely go back.

My absolute favorite sushi place in Memphis. I love their sushi menu. Their cuts of fish are fresh and tasty. Ontop of their delicious sushi selection, you can get great entrees too. Sekura's number one in my book.
I love sakura so much!! Its the best japenese restaurant in Memphis that is even close to authentic japenese food. My favorite is the joyce roll with a little spicy crawfish in it. The waitresses and waitors are all so nice. But sometimes if they have a dinner or lunch rush it might take a few minutes longer than usual, but i am fine with waiting because thats how good their sushi is!
Go there now!. You know how you find a decent restaurant but you get stuck on one menu item because its so damn good you cant imagine going there and not getting that thing?? ya know? Well i'm stuck on the Panko Roll and seaweed salad. I'm sure the rest of their menu is as good but mannn....that is good sooshi

Incredible food.. Disclaimer: Sorry, foodie hipsters or those obsessed with the culture of sushi over the taste - I don't care that this isn't the most "pure" sushi place in town. It has the best rolls so deal with it.
If you want traditional sushi then there are plenty of mediocre places to get it in West TN. If you want a masterpiece of Americanized pseudo-sushi then the rolls at Sakura are what you're looking for. Not only are the rolls beautiful, the portions are very sizable - sure to fill you up.
YES this is Americanized sushi - but the taste is incredible. Certainly worth the trip out and then some...
Favorite restaurant in Memphis!!! Food is delicious and you get so much more for your money than the other sushi restaurants. The rolls are HUGE and come with about 12 pieces. Favorite roll is Pickwick (not on the menue but it is a mix between Mexico and Alfredo roll). Other favorite rolls are Sakura, Gustavo, and DJ. This is a must try if you like sushi!

Beyond Words. This is BY FAR the best sushi I've ever had. It was like living in California again. Went there for the first time today thanks to urbanspoons recommendation. Was so impressed. The sushi was clean and the portions were amazing. The whole staff at Sakura were friendly and helpful. We WILL be back (OFTEN).
A Winner!. I've enjoyed this restaurant for years. The service and food is excellent which compensates for the slightly higher prices. You get what you pay for though.
I have liked every roll that I have eaten to the point that I tend to order the same item for to long. When the staff knows your order before you say it....change it up. Try things other than the roll. The combinations and noodle dishes are delicious too. I had one item that I didn't care for but I should have read the description closer, no eggs for me.

Yum! Yum! Yum! We order so many rolls when we go here that they look at us sideways. The Alfredo, Joyce, & Volcano rolls are not to be missed. The tempura shrimp are also good. There are several excellent rolls not on the menu if you ask your server for suggestions. And I recommend you try the creamy peanut salad dressing on your pre-dinner salad.

Atmosphere could use some work and the servers seemed a little spaced out on the night I was there. I had to ask for my water to be refilled and I don't recall being checked on during the meal. However, the rolls were decently sized and the Mermaid Salad appetizer was excellent. Based on other reviews, I wasn't as pleased with it as I thought I'd be, but as far as sushi goes here, you take what you can get, right?

Best Sushi in Memphis!!. I'll be the first to say that I would have never thought that anything out of Germantown would make my personal "Best of Memphis" list, but Sakura proved me wrong. Their rolls are VERY unique and full of flavor, and one order of their specialty rolls more than enough for one meal. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND this place if you're in the mood for sushi.

Good Food Nice People. Sakura is a friendly local place with nice food and good presentation. We all know you aren't going to get top notch sushi in Memphis. (I know that sounds snobby but we have to be honest here) We don't have a real fish market and are geographically too far from one to get truly prime fish. To do so would make it cost prohibitive. That being said Sakura is one of the more interesting sushi restaurants in town and serves sushi that is as good as any in Memphis.
Sakura is hidden away in a small shopping center in Germantown. The center has many shops in it, but little parking, so it can be tough to find a spot at lunch. Once in you are usually seated quickly even though they are often very busy. Décor is casual but nice, the restaurant always clean. The staff at Sakura are always excellent. Sushi chef "Ben" is a real standout and his years of experience really show. The other sushi chefs here have been in the trade for some time as well. They are all artistic as well as quick.
Sakura has a wide selection of rolls ranging from classic raw to their famous tempura battered creation the "Joyce Roll". The seaweed salad here is very good and a particular standout.
Overall it's a very good experience. If you are looking for sushi in Memphis it's a great place to go. It's a 9 on the Memphis sushi scale.

Most inventive sushi. I have been to most of the "trendy" sushi places in Memphis and while they are all ok, I still keep coming back to Sakura. It definitely has the best sushi in town. The specials are always right on and the variety is great. Plus the value is great.

Sakura’s sushi was excellent. Especially their shrimp tempura roll which was enormous! The spicy tuna rolls were a little lacking in size, but they were definitely still delicious.
Sakura is a semi-fancy pants Japanese restaurant in Germantown. Yes, I said Germantown, but I can only say that it is definitely worth the drive
The interior has been updated to look more modern. It's nice, but I did kind of like the darker atmosphere the old look had. The centrally place sushi bar has also been moved to the back. I'm guessing it allows for more seats, but it was nice to be able to see the guys making the sushi as a center piece.
Food is good, as always.

Met a friend for lunch today and although they were busy we were able to get our food and drinks in a timely manner. The server was attentive and customer service great!
We both ordered the Chicken Teriyaki Lunch and it comes with Clear Soup and Salad (ginger dressing). The Chicken Teriyaki was very good especially when combined with the steamed white rice. It came with a few veggies (broccoli, cabbage) and fruit (oranges, apples). There was a pickled cucumbers on the side and I really enjoyed it!
We both ordered sushi... my friend added a California Roll to her lunch but I ordered off the speciality rolls section. They do have A LOT of options to choose from and it can be overwhelming but the waitress was able to assist. I ended up ordering the Joe’s Roll (soft shell crab, crab sticks, crawfish, snow crab mix, avocado). It came with this amazing creamy sauce with a drizzle of hot oil. It was delicious and a large portion!
I would definitely come back here to try out more of their sushi rolls and tempura. Glad to have found a new sushi spot!
This place exceed my expectations! The food was as delicious as it was beautiful! The service was prompt, friendly and very clean. All precautions were taken for sanitation and social distancing. The red bean ice cream was amazing. It may seem small but it's much more dense and filling than most icecream. It has a mildly sweet flavor and a sticky, thick texture. Everything was amazing! The prices were shockingly affordable as well!
This is a fairly solid "nanchatte" Japanese restaurant. It's completely run by Chinese people, but from the perspective of a person who has been in Japan on many occasions...the food is not bad for Memphis. The futomaki is not bad and the sake is decent. If you don't mind the fact that they have no Japanese customer service, then give it a try.
My mom hardly says a word once her Mardi Gras roll is at the table. It must be that good. I’d also like to comment on how fresh the food was even after 2:00pm. And to say their peanut sauce is simply good would be an understatement.
The atmosphere, food and service was refreshing and excellent. Sakura has become one of my newest favorite restaurants. The appertizers and sushi rolls are surprisingly and enjoyably different.
