I visited on a spectacular day the weekend after Thanksgiving with my senior parents who have limited mobility. We enjoyed a perfect day visiting the new museum, taking both the Gullah and the house tour as well as having a fantastic late lunch at the tea room. I highly recommend spending a day at this stunning property and learning from the well informed staff and owners. My parents were able to manage well enough on the grounds using a rolling walker and canes. The food in tea room was top notch, reasonably priced with pleasant service. Enjoy a day stepping back in time and learning about the history of the plantation and people who left their mark on this land.

Beautiful home, very well kept estate. Thank you, Deb, for being a kind hostess to our group SC FUN SENIORS. We enjoyed our walk.

Had a great time at Hopsewee Plantation for Full Southern Tea. Will go back. Grounds are beautiful, view by the river is wonderful. Our server, Deb, was so polite and caring, added to the experience.
We made reservations.

We enjoyed going to Hopsewee last year with my cousin. So we came back when my sister came to visit. We went to the tea service and enjoyed it very much, also did the Gulliah talk. Unfortunately since my sister has a rolling walker and the tour is not handicapped assessable she was not able to do the house tour. Perhaps you could do a video tour for handicapped people to watch since they can't access the house.

Did the full package and really enjoyed it. Started with coffee in the tea room, then a very interesting talk from a Gullah woman. Lunch in the Tea room was very nice. Then a tour of the plantation house which was very interesting. After that we had wine and cheese down by the river with the owner RaeJean. Everyone at Hopsawee Plantation was very nice and informative. It was a really nice day and I would definitely recommend it

Had tea/lunch in the tea room and toured the historic home. Bambi, the retired Marine drill sergeant, was our tour guide, and she was super informative and funny to boot! We also thoroughly enjoyed petting the resident cats on the grounds. We are looking forward to the opening of the new museum section. We've been here many times, and we keep returning because it's a wonderful atmosphere and very educational! Next summer, I plan to take the indigo class!

Such a beautiful place to visit and have southern afternoon tea. The staff was very helpful and friendly. They really appreciated the business and loved to accommodate any needed food allergies. Savories were good, but wish there was less mayonnaise offerings. It was a bit rich. The homemade crackers were devine. In addition to the offerings, I had a cup of the tomato basil soup and it was delicious. We also shared the chicken tenders and they were good. I liked that they came with fresh fruit. The scones were huge and it was nice that the waitress took our scone order right away to make sure she could out aside the ones we wanted. There were a lot of tea offerings and it was nice that you could have them decaffeinated if you'd like as well as warm or iced. The desserts were very good. You are definitely full after having just the tea and courses. The grounds are just gorgeous with all of the oak tress with Spanish moss.

Very beautiful. Tour is very informative and interesting. The mosquitoes are intense, so bring bug spray! Best to make reservations online in advance. Very much like stepping back in time.

You know when some days are just spectacular? Today was one of them.
Attic to Cellar tour at Hopsewee Plantation then afternoon tea.
Tour guide Jonah was incredible, we could really tell he was passionate about the history of the home and property. And his enthusiasm and knowledge was infectious.
The afternoon tea was fantastic, the chef is amazing and our server Augusta was most friendly and took pleasure in answering all of our questions. And we even ended up having a interesting conversation with Mr Beattie the owner of the 1740 home and resident until last year. He was having lunch right next to us.
What a day! If you ever get a chance, this is a South Carolina gem worthwhile visiting.
Oh and Butternut the cat is most friendly!

This plantation was amazing! Very beautiful grounds and overall very informative. Staff was very welcoming and knowledgeable. I would recommend buying tickets ahead of time as well doing both tours of the house and the Gullah Presentation. The actual tour of the house was a bit crowded but still allowed for Q & A at the end of each of room in case you wanted to know more. The Gullah tour was more about the history and the cabins on the outside of the house and really brought the whole tour into full circle. Would recommend. Definitely bring bug spray!

Beautiful place with centuries of history. Romantic setting for any event or gathering. There a tea room also, but make reservations ahead of time. The gift shop has a local artist that makes handcrafted historical jewelry from relics found in the area. Glass with a Past Gifts is what it’s called.

A little rocky start, I made reservations for 6 on the website and paid. We were told they didn't have it. I pulled the reservations # and then they said they had it, but were running behind and short on staff. They were about 25 minutes late, which made us miss the house tour, then we got on the last tour. The food was small, but tasty. Tea was fine. Scones were good. Small desserts, but super tasty! All in all, it was fine.

We had a gal pal day at Hopsewee! We did the Art of Indigo Tie Dyeing class....it was awesome! We learned so much of the history from our instructor, Linda! And we made 3 pieces, a purse, a dish towel and a small grocery bag. Then we topped off our afternoon with a lovely lunch at their restaurant!!!! We even topped it off with a decadent dessert!!!!! Highly recommend this class AND restaurant!!!

Had a great day at Hopsewee with a tour of the house and grounds and then lunch. I attended with a group and everything was handled well. A special recognition for our tour guide who provided lots of information and gave us time to explore. The tea room is delightful with lots of sun and a wonderful ambience. Strolling the grounds was so peaceful. Thanks to everyone for providing insight into the history of the rice plantations and their impact on the low country. Would definitely recommend this to anyone visiting the area!

I just visited the tea room yesterday, March 3. It was a delightful experience, as usual. Not only is the food delicious, but it is visually appealing. They set a beautiful table, and the service is excellent. The sun room where it is located looks out over the property, and it's a very nice view. I highly recommend this place.

Everything about Hopsewee said southern charm. Everyone I spoke with and dealt with in person was so pleasant and helpful. To end our most pleasant day we had lunch in the tea room which rivaled the tour for enjoyment. I would highly recommend everything about Hopsewee!

Beautiful place! So worth seeing and be sure to have lunch in the tea room, delicious and delightful!

The tour was fine. It was more about the structure of the house instead of the slaves - so I enjoyed the tour. I didn't want to hear how the slaves were treated so this was better for me. I also had lunch and the tea house and the food was absolutely deliciousl. I had the sampler platter and one of the items was collard greens with rutabagas. I loved it. I will try to make this dish at home.

I visited the house and the tea room on a rainy Saturday. I'm so glad I went! The amount I learned is so appreciated and the food at the tea room was fantastic. What a gem of the South!

Beautiful property and Colonel Home that sits at river’s edge. Great food and hospitality at The Tea Room too!

We have had lunch there twice. It’s delicious & so lovely! Even in the heat, the Gin Gin soup is excellent.

We had a wonderful experience making sweetgrass baskets with Miss Vera. She was so kind and patient and encouraging! We all came away with charming baskets and wonderful memories. We're already planning a return trip.

We had our wedding at Hopsewee and it was absolutely perfect! The staff and owners of the plantation are so helpful and made it a dream come true for us. A beautiful piece of history.
