A great place for a great meal! The pumpkin pancakes were amazing, I'll be coming back for more.
Great overall experience! The chicken croquettes were tasty with the beets. The kids chicken tenders were well portioned.
The food was awesome. Our waitresse was really nice.
This was a very enjoyable find. We just stopped for lunch, clean, the wait staff couldn't have been nicer, the food was good and reasonable priced. We will definitely stop here again on another visit to this area. The grocery store seemed clean and well stocked. Lots of speciality items.
Love this store! Very clean and neat with friendly service and someone to bag your groceries! Love the fact that they give you bags (without a charge) AND bag your items. Many stores no longer do that in my neck of the woods. Fresh food and good selection.
I found this place to be great. The food was excellent and a good variety. The night I was there they had brisket which was extremely tender melt-in-your-mouth. That with the mashed potatoes was so good that I could have just got it over and over again but sampled many other things and they were all great.
Where to start... As soon as we walked in the atmosphere was wonderful. Friendly, smiles (genuine) from all the staff, the positive vibes showed in the patrons as well. Very clean , well lit and comfortable. No fans blowing on you while you eat either.
The food was amazing. The salad bar had fresh crisp and crisp vegetables. I ordered the ham balls and was pleasantly surprised. Light, fluffy, and airy are not words normally associated with ham, but they are. The pineapple sauce was smooth and just sweet enough. The baked limas..... Can't say enough good about them. Husband had the roast beef melt in your mouth. The carrots were amazing!!!!
Definitely recommend.
Yesterday 5 siblings & 4 spouses all in their 70's & 80's had a very nice time at your restaurant. I ordered your Liver & onions, mashed potatoes & Harvard Beets & my husband had your Soup & Salad Bar & everything was delicious. We took a Peach Dumpling home & shared it. Our waitress Colleen was a wonderful waitress & we would ask for her again.
We stopped for lunch, service was excellent, food was good, compare the variety to a dinner. Before covid they had a buffet. There was a couple that left because it was no longer offered, they do offer a large salad bar. Our food was very good. My son was not crazy about his.
Fantastic fresh baked pretzels for $3. $12 for soup, salad, and bread bar in the restaurant. Got a chocolate covered hard pretzel for $1.49. Yummy lemon crunch pie and sticky rolls with both walnuts and raisins from the bakery. Delicious food. Fast and friendly service.
I had the soup & salad bar. It was quite a visit, although I didn't save room for dessert, I will get next trip!!
Very nice place to food shop. The bakery section is outstanding along with excellent deli choices! Very clean store. Only reason I bumped down the rating for service is I had difficulty finding someone to assist me since I was unfamiliar with locating items in the store. I will definitely return and highly recommend this grocery store!
I had to drive out west of Harrisburg the other day and thought to stop in at one of the smorgasbord restaurants for dinner on my way home. Since it has been more than 2 years since I had been to one of my favorites I thought to stop there but when I arrived I saw it was their prime rib night. I am not a big fan of prime rib as I like my meat to have no red but checked it out to see if they had the two things that I really like there the Cajun catfish and grilled marinated chicken breast, they did not have either. Since Ditch-Way has been my go to place while in Lancaster I called them to be sure it was not their seafood night and when that was confirmed I headed there arriving around 7:20. Because I usually come for breakfast or lunch I did not expect to see anyone there that I knew but was glad to see that Lori was there. She has been a big help when I have been there especially when I brought a group of bikers in while out on a ride through the covered bridges. It was nice that I was able to go to Dutch-Way as although they do not have the catfish or chicken breast they also do not have the price. Everyone here is always looking to help you out and I have never had to wait for a table even when we came with the group since we had called a couple days ahead to let them know we were coming. If you come in the morning ask for Kristi as she is always on top of getting you what you need.
Visited the Dutch-Way Family Restaurant on April 11th, 2018 after hearing that they have the most amazing brisket after 4 p.m. on Wednesdays ... and that turned out to be an understatement! While there are restaurants in this part of the country that have a larger buffet (square footage wise), the Dutch-Way Family Restaurant competes toe-to-toe with any of them when it comes to quality of items offered and the 'just like Mama used to make, only better' flavors.
The brisket that is offered on Wednesdays, after 4 p.m., is so tender that when you try to pick it up with the end of your fork it literally falls apart and has the most wonderful flavor. They even carve it fresh for you on the buffet line. There are too many great things on the buffet to go on & on about in this posting, but there are a few that deserve to be pointed out. The mashed potatoes are devine and are meant to be on your plate right beside the brisket! Those 2 items alone are worth the trip, but while you're there you should also try the harvard beets. They remind me of opening a jar of homemade pickled beets that Mom used to make, but these are served warm in a thicker sauce. You should also save room for their meatloaf and ham balls. And for dessert, you couldn't go wrong by choosing a piece of shoo-fly pie.
During this visit our server was Maddy. She took excellent care of us and made us want to return to the restaurant for more of this terrific homemade food and their friendly, smiling faces. We hope that we get to sit in Maddy's section during future visits. I can't wait to see what's on the buffet next time!
Update: Got the opportunity to stop by the Dutch-Way Family Restaurant again on 01/09/2019, almost 9 months after my first visit. Since it was Wednesday, once again I was able to get the brisket and it was everything that I recalled it was. Also got to sit in Maddy's section and service was top notch was again. Keep serving this awesome food and I'll be back again.
