Review Porch Cafe - Galveston

Fabulous meal. The redfish and grits was so fresh and the sauce was incredible. Shrimp and grits too. This is a must have. They served an affogato gelato / cappuccino desert after (came from the gelato store above). Service was ok but food was wow!

My wife and I have been coming to Porch Cafe for almost 10 years. We love this restaurant and have stuck with them even when they've had some down times. Recent visit was delicious, and we decided to do a "small plates" night. Everything was on point. Tasty Porch Devils, excellently seasoned fried green tomatoes, delicious sweet chili shrimp, and you can never go wrong with the lollipop lamb chops. SUPERB service, and of course we'll be back again and again! Thanks for being one of our favorite places, Porch Cafe!

Had a reservation so no wait. Was seated on the porch with a water view and heaters turned on. It was very warm and nice. The service was excellent. I believe our waiters name was Peter and he was great. The food was over all pretty good. I had a few slightly undercooked portions on my egg dish but nothing to complain about I ate 95 percent of it. With that being said everything was delicious and will become a regular spot for us.

We celebrated our Anniversary at the Porch Café. It is a beautiful space with great views. We chose the Four course Wine pairing dinner. It was the best meal we've had in our last year of travels. Each course, and paired wine, was perfect. The ingredients were fresh. Perfectly balanced flavors. And the presentation was beautiful. I highly recommend trying the burnt orange old fashioned. Shout out to Daniel (bartender), Justin (server), and the talented Chef Sean (who turned my husband into a grits fan).

Quite possibly the best breakfast I've ever eaten! We arrived here on a bit of a whim as we were staying nearby. However, it wasn't on our list of "must try" spots, but it was close and they had breakfast so we decided to stop in. Am I glad we did! Although, it didn't start off as smoothly as I would've liked. I was dead set on having the chicken and waffle, but I was informed they had no chicken that day! Ouch! I resorted to the French Toast with a side of the grits and bacon. Where do I start? The French Toast was AMAZING. Light, crispy, nice cinnamon touch with a hint of vanilla and not overly sweet! Perfect! Oh, the grits! The grits y'all! Sheesh. Basically, every review I read as I sat at the table prior to ordering demanded one try the grits! So thanks reviewers for that! The grits are out of this world. If only I could box 'em up and bring 'em home! Anyway, service was great as well. Wish we could've went back, but they were closed Mon-Wed and our time in Galveston ended before they were open again. Bit of a heads up, this part of Galveston, I guess it's "Beachtown" is fairly "ritzy". Doesn't mean you have to be dressed up or anything, but I found it noticeable in the clientele and the surrounding vacation homes. Absolutely recommend going here!

Chef Sean, Dorian, Melissa and management Tony are amazing. The service, food and atmosphere can’t be beat. Whether you’re going for happy hour, dinner or hosting a special event your experience will leave you wondering why you’re not eating here multiple times a week. Every entree is crazy good! Seriously the best shrimp n grits you’ll EVER have. Support this hidden gem in East Beach so we all can be spoiled with amazing entrees in a beautiful setting.

I must say our first experience here was very interesting. We ordered for appetizers we got the Fried Green Tomatoes which were good topped with crab meat, the chicken and waffles with eggs and jalapeño grits(which are delish) was also good. Ok so it all was perfect except the chicken, it came out totally burnt(maybe some people like that) so our waiter MIKE(Super nice 🥰) suggested grilled chicken and OMG it was amazing. Perfect option to go with my meal. And the sauce the chef used was superb. WE ordered the Memosa and I think the Porch Berry Lemonade (that was absolutely beautiful and delicious) and they wasn't too strong but a small speed bump kick to them. It was this one waitress who wasn't very sanitized. She handed out our straws with her bare hands then put them on the table (eww) MIKE (Our 🦸‍♂️ superman) handed us new straws with a paper towel and in our hands. 😁 So awesome. Overall experience was awesome 👌🏾

We made reservations for 5:15 and were seated as soon as we arrived. Unfortunately they didn't have everything on the menu, but we still ate well. Sweet chili shrimp on a bed of kimchi, avocado Caesar salad, crab and shrimp linguini, and a family shared side of amazing asparagus. Daughter got the cinnamon bun bread pudding to go. Everything was delicious and we left beyond stuffed. Dorian, our waiter, was attentive and friendly, as were the rest of the staff.

Out of every place we ate in Galveston, this was the best meal. We ate here for brunch. My husband got the French toast and loved it. Vegan Food Review: I got the Vegetarian Tostadas. I asked for it to be prepared vegan with asparagus replacing the eggs. I didn’t know tostadas could taste sooooo good. My non-vegan husband took a bite and agreed it was the best he’d ever tasted. The picture shows cheese on the tostadas, which I didn’t realize at first, but the kitchen fixed my plate out quickly.

Lovely restaurant in the upscale Beachtown Galveston neighborhood. Casual dining at its finest with a succulent selection of many dishes to go along with the fantastic drinks being from the bar. This place has one of the better spicy bloody Mary's I've ever had and the mimosa is made with top shelf champagne. Fresh fruit, eggs benedict perfectly made, and friendly staff. We will definitely come back here again!

We had lunch on Saturday, not too busy but we did have reservation at 11. Service is slow, our meal came out and cocktails and coffee still not out. We had to ask couple of times for the drinks. I had crab cake Benedict and the crab cake had a lot of shells in it. The black berry mojito was delicious. Beautiful views from patio.

This place is amazing. The Salmon was outstanding. If you come by don’t pass up the jalapeño, Gouda, grits. I don’t think you could order anything bad here. Stop by and treat yourself.

My husband will leave his own review but we are 2 for 2 at Porch Cafe. We first came for my birthday in July. We enjoyed the 4 course dinner with wine pairings so much we decided to come back today for our 3rd anniversary. We were met with familiar faces (Daniel & Adian) who provided excellent service. We had high expectations after our dinning experience in July and Chef Sean and the team delivered once again. We will become regulars at this establishment and we are excited to see what else the Porch Cafe has to offer outside of the Sunday wine parings. Highly recommended to all living on and visiting the island
