Tasty specialty cocktails and great food! The food was very good. My husband had the short rib with garlic mashed and candied carrots. I don't eat carrots but I tried one and I liked it. I was surprised. I had the lamb pops with garlic mashed and asparagus. The medium well on the lamb was just right and the asparagus was seasoned nicely. We'd definitely stop in again when in town

Such a tasty small town treat! Would not hesitate to visit this spot again. Friendly servers with indoor and outdoor seating. I got the fried chicken and it was bit dry but pair it with the garlic mash you won’t regret it. Dessert options are great and bread pudding can’t be beat. Don’t miss happy hour!!

Went on a Saturday afternoon... We Were actually on our way to a different restaurant, but stopped in here cuz the vibe was awesome.
Weekend bottomless mimosas are $15 and premixed. It's a 1:1 ratio with wycliff and oj. 11-4!!
The chicken fried steak is superb! Order it with extra gravy! Also got the chicken cobb salad and it was huge and awesome.
Nice outdoor seating area.
Great staff. Would go again!

The OAK is a really special and very well organized restaurant. They are good vegetarian options there to get some healthy food. Will definitely come back when I’m in Gainesville.

Was not disappointed. I ordered the grilled cheese with tomato soup, which was not expensive at all and very delicious and filling. I think they should change the cheese on the grilled cheese because it wasn’t the most flavorful, but I still enjoyed it. The tomato soup was yum.

Visited tonight for dinner as my fiancé and I were passing through. This particular neighbourhood is inundated with dining establishments.
I ordered a Captain and Coke, and she had a Black Widow cider to drink. We shared an order of Buffalo Style Cauliflower to start. My fiancé ordered Braised Boneless Ribs and I had a Beet and Arugula Salad with Candied Pecans and Goat Cheese topped with Angus Steak (upcharge)
Our meals were served quickly and were flavourful. The portion sizes did not disappoint. The prices were slightly North of Average but not totally unreasonable.
Our waitress Amanda was great. She was fun, attentive and professional. She even helped us find our hotel for the evening.
We would not hesitate to return to Original American Kitchen.
Thank you!

After a memorable meal next door at Harry's the previous night, we thought we'd give OAK a try. I will try anyone's fried green tomatoes, and nobody has beaten Harry's (yet). OAK serves theirs with pimiento cheese spread on the *bottom* of them, and honestly, it's more like lumpy shredded cheddar with very little flavor. But the tomatoes themselves were good, and the sauces are good, too. And it's DEFINITELY enough to fill you up.
Son ordered the prime rib flatbread which he enjoyed greatly. Also ordered a side of truffle mac and cheese which he said was just okay.
I knew when I saw "sweet tea short rib" on the menu that my husband would be ordering that. He said it was delicious.
If the two of them wanted those same meals again, I would have a hard time eating those fried green tomatoes knowing that Harry's is right next door.
Our server was training another server, and I'm pretty sure that she's only new to this restaurant; she certainly seemed to know what she was doing.
Location is loud; sometimes it is hard to hear what's being said across the table from you.

Not sure how any beer drinker could rate this place more than 2 stars; honestly one of the worst beer experiences I've had in recent history. Most beers were served warm due to cooling issues. Additionally, carbonation and draft line sanitation were an issue as well. Also, the glassware was filthy. Shocked that this place is a verified venue on Untappd; what I saw this evening was little to no care about the beers they had. The food was fine; typical bar fare but not bad. Will not be returning anytime soon.

We visited Dec. 22 and the food and service was awesome!! Mahi and shrimp and grits were to die for! Our waiter was great and we never had an empty glass. Highly recommend !!

I was more impressed with the mimosas (even though my poor server had anxiety so bad it was sloshed all over me every time it was poured) The food was just ok, I like my quiche to have real crust, not semi crushed soybeans. It had no flavor, kind of tasted like dirt. The potatoes were very tasty, and the bagel was nothing to brag about. I found it to be pricey for the quality of what we were served.

We had brunch to celebrate our Son’s graduation. We had Shrimp & Grits, Banana Foster waffles, peanutbutter pancakes, chicken & waffles, and plain pancakes with waffles. Overall, we would rate it poor given the price. The only menu item which was above par was the shrimp & grits. Perhaps the food is not representative of non-graduation menus, but if we ever come back it will be only for the beer tapping, mules & beermosas.

Service was good. Atmosphere was excellent. Black and bleu burger was extremely mediocre, lacked flavor, don't think I've ever felt so let down by a burger before. Waffle fries were great though! Wouldn't mind going again as there were other things that looked good on the menu.

We went to Gainesville FL, trying to escape hurricane, Irma. Eric who is the owner kept the place open until the very last minute to ensure everyone had food. He kept people with their minds away from the storm and gave us a little solace in such a scary time. In times of need is when you see people rise to the top and give their best. Eric thank you for your dedication to all of your customer, the incredible service and superb food and the great Sangria. People like you make America great
