Review Indian Cuisine - Gainesville

Sam B.
If there were six stars, I would give them. Such delicious food! The chicken was tender and perfectly seasoned. They let you choose your spice level. The naan was fluffy. Plus, nice atmosphere.

I love this place! I’ve been eating here for years and somehow never gave them the proper review. I’ll start by pointing out the excellent customer service. They are very attentive even during buffet hours. The food is delicious with a good cauto choose from. Prices have gone up a bit but I still love it.

Went safe with chicken curry and lamb curry, mostly because we were just craving curry specifically. Also tried the cheese naan. Everything is amazing and flavorful. The waiters are kind also. We plan to come for more and explore the menu!

Reasonable price. Fall in love with Indian food!

An extraordinary meal full of flavourful and spicy combinations with lamb, goat and seafood. Mahendra was very helpful, courteous and like an embassador of regional Indian culinary journeys.

It’s nearly impossible for me to give 5 stars. I wavered here. So make it 4.95. I love Indian food, and these guys didn’t disappoint. From the Naans to the curries and masala on my family’s table, it was all delicious! The staff took good care of us and made us feel welcome. We left satisfied and stuffed.

This Indian restaurant is awesome. The naan is fantastic and the food is consistently great! They in no way underestimate the spice levels, so if you are not into spicy food look for something that doesn't have the flame next to it.,, OR YOU WILL SWEAT! But I love spicy food!! Definitely try here if you like Indian food. Make sure to check the hours of operation, as they are weird for lunch!

Gainesville has extremely limited Indian options (4), so I suppose there's not a lot of pressure to excel. This place is ok. The butter chicken for example has a nice heat to it. Their pickles and other condiments are quite nice. Overall though many of the dishes are over-salted. The chai is uninspired. The price isn't bad ($12 for Fri or weekend buffet lunch) but I likely won't be back anytime soon.

A sad attempt at Indian cooking. Firstly, to clear the air about me knowing what I am talking about, I am an Indian, living in the US for the past 7 years. I have eaten Indian food all my life.

I have tried this restaurant at least 3 times in the past 1 year. I have tried their buffet and their dinner on different occasions. I know that in places with a comparatively small number of Indian population, the restaurants tend to tone down their food, thinking that that's what the Americans want. For example, the food from an Indian restaurant in, say South Jersey of CA will taste really different than in Tallahassee or Gainesville. Probably makes better business sense for them. But the quality of food that this restaurant serves is simply sad. Now about the Indian Cuisine.

The food is fresh. More than required. It feels like they just threw the in the ingredients together, threw the hodge-podge mixture into the microwave and dumped it into the plate. I wouldn't say that the food lacks flavor. You'll definitely taste the "curry"/"sauce" in your dish, but that's where it stops. The different ingredients in your plate seem to be fighting each other. They seem to use the same sauce for everything, but don't seem to cook the vegetables in that sauce. The result? A pool of a very strong flavored sauce surrounding a bland tasting vegetable. That is the kind of Indian food you would expect by a kid learning to cook for the first time, trying his hand out in his mom's kitchen; but this is definitely not the kind of food you would want to see in an Indian restaurant.

Best Indian Buffet Ever. The previous review just puzzles me. We recently moved back to Gainesville from Atlanta, where we were fortunate to enjoy a number of great Indian restaurants. Were curious to try Indian Cuisine for dinner this summer and have become big fans. The quality of food - very fresh and flavorful - combined with really good service make each dinner here seem like a special occasion. Our favorites are saag paneer and chicken tikka masala, but every dish has been delectable. Normally avoid lunch buffets like the plague, but tried this one with a friend last week and was wonderfully surprised. It was spotlessly clean and well-tended, with constant attention and refreshing of dishes. I could have filled up on naan, raita (some of the best I've had, including homemade), and chutneys but persevered and ate way too much because it was all just too good. Cucumber and cabbage salads were crisp and bright, daal is fantastic. As always, service was well done. Indian Cuisine inspires confidence - I know I could bring any of my friends here and they'd be impressed. Lots of veggie options and really low on grease. Good beers, too. Didn't have room for dessert but mango pudding and a pastryish dish I'd never seen before were very tempting. This place makes me wish I had two stomachs! And, it's not at all pretentious, but does have an air of sophistication - bright and well appointed.

Lunch buffet. Terrible service. No spoons, silverware, plates, refills on beverages OR food. You had to ask for EVERYTHING, and even then they made it seems like it was a huge deal to get you anything you needed to enjoy your meal. Food appeared to have a lot of food coloring it in, it wasn't natural. Worst Indian food i've ever had actually. The Trader Joe's frozen Indian dishes are better than the food here and much cheaper.

Compared to indian food in larger cities this place couldn't compete. However, for gainesville it's not bad.

Authentic and delicious. By far some of the best and most authentic Indian food I've had. Spicy, flavorful, incredibly diverse menu. Prices are a bit high for the amount of food you get but certainly not for the quality!
Stevie
Their lunch buffet is to die for... And well priced! 100 percent. Go

I'm no expert in Indian food. But, I love the food here. The Korma us addictive. If I could I would eat here once a week. Great stuff.

Love it. I have tried many Indian restaurants around Gainesville and Ocala area and have not found a restaurant that I liked like Indian cuisine. I really like the amount of food they serve, the spices, even the cheesy decor. I really like the food!!

I don't understand the negative reviews. I'm from Boston and my friends from NYC love the food here and we've had plenty of good and bad Indian food from around the world. Great food. Great service. Love this place!

Worst Indian food I've ever had. This place has predominately positive reviews, so I had somewhat elevated expectations. When I try a new Indian place, I usually try two entrees, palak paneer, sometimes called saag, and paneer masala, as well as naan so that I have leftovers for a couple days. Indian Cuisine doesn't have a paneer masala, but they have something that sounded close so I ordered that. When asked how spicy I wanted my food, I said medium.

Basically, both entrees tasted like wet greasy spices. There was no subtlety in the food. It was spicier than I expected with significant amounts of red pepper in every bite, but I could have gotten over that if the flavor had been there. You couldn't tell that spinach and tomato were the bases of these dishes, they just tasted like seasoning and some grease. The garlic naan was probably the best part, but it was a bit bland.

I am not even sure I want to eat the leftovers I have, the food is so shockingly bad. I am not an Indian food expert, but I as someone who has tried a dozen or so Indian restaurants over the years and who eats Indian food at least twice a month, I can say this is NOT what Indian food should taste like.

I've seen a lot of comments about the price, and the prices are comparable to what I have paid at Indian restaurants in other cities. However, given how terrible the food is, I paid way too much. Even the Kabab House downtown had better food and was half the price.

Great food... Until I found a hair in it.

Great Food. I have an idea, Lindsay, dont rate a place based on its buffet! Its actual entrees are excellent and its one of the best places in Gainesville

This is where I like to go on birthday in Gainesville. I don't usually go to the lunch buffet because it's not very hot (though they do make it hotter on the weekend). The service is excellent, the food is ridiculously great, though it's too expensive on my budget to go very often. Despite that, I always feel like I get more than my money's worth. Favorite dish - Lamb Boti Kabob Masala!
Lindsay
Not bad, but not the best. The lunch buffet was expensive ($12) for my stomach capacity anyway. I did enjoy the variety of food and the attentive waiter. Would probably not eat here again but I would recommend if you're in the mood for this type of cuisine.
Ash
Definitely the best Indian food in Gainesville.
Amira
Take it from a true Indian, this place sucks. Their food is extremely over priced and there are two other restaurants in Gainesville that sell you the same food for a little more than half the price! This place is a rip-off!
Jessica
Love this place... Never been for the buffet, but dinner is great. They are closed Mondays. Tikka masala and garlic naan mmm....

Best Indian food in 100 miles, lunch is bufet but only $12, dinner is really good around $20 a person.
