Review Bangkok Square - Gainesville

The place itself is unassuming. The food is divine! It's been awhile since I had a meal so thoroughly enjoyed. The amazing curry sauce was not false advertising. The coconut ice cream with crunchy banana was ...👨🏼‍🍳💋

Just had dinner here and it was excellent. I had the fresh veggie/tofu rolls and oolong tea. Service was very friendly and quick and the restaurant was clean, peaceful and comfortable. I recommend it!

My friend and I were blown away by our lunch today! Thank you for the amazing meal and wonderful service. Our kind waiter recommended the Chicken Pad See Ew which was amazing, it has freshly made rice noodles, broccoli, egg, and a sweet brown sauce. So yummy!! The coconut ices at the end of our meal were sweet and refreshing.

Outstanding food …. I’ve traveled to Thailand and yes 👏🏽 this place hit a home run . Next time will ask for Thai hot ! Wish I had a bigger stomach to try it all .

Excellent lunch menu. Starts with a small bowl of the days soup and a mini egg roll. Had the chicken with chili sauce. My partner has the appropriately named amazing sauce. Perfectly cooked rice. Will come again.

Everything was delicious. The appetizer sampler was better than I expected. The chicken/shrimp combo plate didn't have much shrimp, so I would just get shrimp alone if that's what you want

This restaurant is a gem of a find. We love Thai food and this restaurant is conveniently located off I75. The restaurant was very busy, which is a good sign. Service was prompt and friendly. We ordered Panang Curry and Thai fried rice. Food was authentic, fresh and with generous portions. It was very fairly priced. It is now on our favorite list next time we need lunch or dinner on route to Florida.

It was okay, but very bland, I like real Thai food, I asked for it hot and it had no heat whatsoever. This place is for people that don’t like real Thai. Overall decent quality food. But overpriced which I don’t mind if it’s good, this didn’t do anything for me. They do have Good desserts. II’ve been professional cook for almost 30 years, so I admit, I am extra picky ,when it comes the flavor.

We were excited about trying out the new Bangkok Square location, but were sorely disappointed by the time we left. The short of it is... They made us move tables, they forgot our drinks and salad, and there was hair in our food. If you want the full story... they asked us to switched tables after we had settled in & even ordered drinks. We have a baby, whose stuff was already sprawled out on the table, so it was a pain. The reason was because they had a party of 9 show up & decided they wanted our table. They never brought our drinks. Our new server had no idea we ordered drinks & never asked if we even wanted drinks. We had to ask for them. They never brought the salads that were supposed to go with the meals. To top everything off we found hair in one of the plates of food, a nasty surprise! They were severely unorganized and apparently not very clean either.

Bangkok Square is a new Thai restaurant out on the west side of Archer Road--out toward Haile Plantation. It's tucked neatly into a small shopping center and the interior is a bright yet warm and welcoming array of oranges, golds, and other peaceful yet lively colors in a small though ample space. Everything is brand-new, so in general that's also a plus. The interior is somewhat typical but certainly enjoyable and the owners and staff seem very eager to make a good showing of things. Others have commented here and elsewhere regarding the poor service, but I found the service to be fine. My waiter was possibly a bit lacking on conversation and may have been less than confident in speaking English beyond the basics one would expect from a waiter, but he was certainly able and willing to carry out his duties and did so promptly. There were no delays that I noticed for myself nor the tables around me, and it's something I was keeping an eye out for given the complaints in that regard here and also on Yelp. The food was good, though far from the best Thai I've ever had and the menu pretty standard to American Thai restaurants. You have your curries with choices of meat, your stir-fry type dishes, your larb gai and other Thai salads. They also offer sushi which to me is normally a bad sign in a Thai place, but people were getting the sushi, liked it, and also were happy with their Thai food, as I was myself. I had the egg rolls and the red curry with chicken. The egg rolls were fine, but not exceptional while the red curry was pretty good and contained ample chicken but could have used more sauce--there just wasn't enough to go with the chicken and vegetables. The serving though was generous and I cannot fault them for having, really, more chicken than curry sauce around it. I also had a Thai ice tea which was fine, just like you'd get most places. This restaurant, in all candor, would not rate four stars in a major city. It is not probably as good (at least based on one dinner) as Royal Orchid in Ocala, even. However, it is good for Gainesville and much better than its current competition.

This is without question the BEST Thai food in the area. You won’t find anything comparable within an hour in any direction.

The food is always good. But today the service was not very good. Our waiter was very rude to us, even interrupting us while we were talking. Not like the normal excuse me, are you ready to order interrupting, bur the I don't have time for this so please be on my schedule kind of interrupting.

I was passing through Gainesville and wanted Thai. It was just off the interstate so I stopped in. Very nice restaurant with friendly staff. Food was fresh and delicious.

These guys seem sincere but they are in way over their heads! Despite having a reservation, we stood at the front door for 20 minutes before the hostess even greeted or spoke to us. Once seated it was another 30 minutes before a server appeared for the first time at our table. Water and tea arrived 40 minutes after we sat down. The entrees were bland (I requested mine Thai Hot, an option on the menu, it was not at all), took forever to arrive, and were miserly in the portions. We were served two tiny dollops of rice (about six bites worth) with an entree that was priced at 17.95! The same entree, which was a shrimp dish, included two shrimp. Ridiculous. I tried to redeem the dinner by ordering a traditional sticky rice Thai dessert (on the menu). Ten minutes after ordering I was told they were "out of sticky rice". How does a Thai restaurant run out of rice. Clearly these guys are not ready to be open or in any way prepared to run a restaurant. We didn't even receive silverware and napkins until five minutes AFTER our entrees arrived, despite repeated requests. We had to eat the appetizers we ordered with our fingers (it was NOT finger food). Some of the food tasted OK, but with the horrible service, utter chaos among the staff, ridiculous prices and measly portions, it is really not worth the effort or the money. I was soooo excited about this place opening. Hard to describe how utterly disappointed we were. Thankfully the new Rice Thai, on 34th, is everything this place is not!

I love their food! Sweet Thai tea, curry puffs, spring rolls, crabmeat soup, pad Thai.... so much to choose.

I have dined here twice. Both times the food was excellent, the service was awesome and the atmosphere is lovely. The price is maybe a few dollars more than a few other places, but it is well worth the cost. On a very personal note for me cleanliness is important to me and by all appearances it seems very clean, in no way are you questioning the integrity of the kitchen. I will definitely be a return costumer.

Great find in Gainesville on our drive south. Lunch special was a 4 course meal. Love the coconut ice cream.

My friends and I went to Bangkok Square for lunch today. The service and food was great. I had a party of 6 who just walked in and they worked with us to seat us immediately while the restaurant was still busy. When the appetizers came out, one of the egg rolls rolled off the plate and we received an extra one for the trouble. It was such a small thing but the people at Bangkok Square were so hospitable. And of course, the main dishes were great! I just love the place.
