Place is beautiful, the bathroom is outside before you enter the main entrance and the staff was great. Came here to grab a dinner but the price was a bit elevated so I only went and got the Lumpia. I dont blame them, they are in a secluded island far far away, other than that the place is beautiful especially outside during the Christmas time. Also another thing that was great about the place is its literally by the ferry so no hassle of being late for the ferry when you want a little food before the ride.
5 stars is not even enough..
The food here was incredible. I had chicken Alfredo and added vegetables. My husband had clam chowder and pasta Del Mar.. nothing could have made it any better than what it was.
It was about $84 but worth every penny
Did not know what to expect d/t the restaurants rating on here, BUT, the food we ordered was absolutely amazing! Fresh made pork lumpia, blackened cod tacos & 2 piece fish & chips. We expected the prices. Staff was friendly & helpful. The view is great. They have a pet friendly patio.
Highly recommend, we’d eat here again if we were staying longer.
I had the fish tacos and my cousin had fish in chips. She thought here fish was too breaded and didn't enjoy them. I really liked the fish tacos and the drinks were also good. I would eat here again. There is a fish tank with glass fish which is so much better than having real fish stuck in a tank. Kudos to them!
Great place. Took a while to be seated even though they were not busy. However, I understandably places are understaffed. Our server was very kind. The food and drinks were amazing. It was a windy cool evening so I got a yummy warm spiked drink (I don't remember the name of it). The clan chowder was amazing and so was the fish and chips.
When we went online to find an alternative to the Windjammer, Blue Water had a very appealing menu, and as a bonus, the restaurant was open an hour later. We arrived a little before 9 pm and were told the kitchen was closing in 15 minutes. The hours snafu was the only issue. The service was great. The food was top quality, and she made one helluva Ceaser.
Don't expect fast service, but the servers have been great. The view is great and easy to grab a meal before getting on the ferry. They are more expensive than the neighboring restaurants, but offer a 10% discount to first responders. I had the bison burger and had to go back so my son could try it during his visit! My wife had the fish tacos and coconut shrimp, but said they were just okay. She wouldn't order them again.
There should be a sign in front of the restaurant the reads “DOG FRIENDLY”. This place would’ve received 5 stars if it weren’t for the dogs!! My son and I wanted to dine outside to enjoy the view but unfortunately we couldn’t because he has a fear of dogs and there were 2 outside. I became grossed out when I saw dander and hair in the air from the big dog after it was shaking vigorously. The food is delicious, the service was fast and good, the atmosphere was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The restaurant is across the street from the ferry station and whale touring boats. If you don’t mind dining with someone else’s pets then this is a great place to visit!
Cute little place with an unexpected view (doesn't look like it had one from the street, but it does). Good fish and EXCELLENT chips (fries)... I only like fries if they're perfect and these were!! Crispy outside and perfectly done inside with just the right amount of salt and yummy tartar. The San Juan pale ale was delicious as well.
We had a quiet off season dinner at the Blue Water Bar and Grill in Friday Harbor on San Juan Island at the end of Nov 2021. Our entrees were a salad with crab cakes which were flavorful and delicious and also sashimi yellowtail that was to die for. The menu choice was very decent and you can download it online. There was a full bar but we imbibed in wine only. Over 3 days we did not eat at the same place twice but if I had, it would have been here. It was late, quiet, off season and I needed the down time. This was the place to relax. I did not sit in the wonderful bar area, which is rare for me, but they had one! I will next time.
We came as a large group for the weekend. The customer service was amazing and the food even more so. Ambiance is key and we all had a fabulous time. My pasta was divine and practically melted in my mouth.
We went there for cocktails the first time, and I recommend the brown sugar Bourbon Cider. It is so good!! We did have dinner another night, and it was ok we ate the bologonese. We likely wouldn't order it again. But the drink and the view are worth the visit.
A nice restaurant with a fast service. I ordered fish and chips and the fish was nicely prepared.
The fries were bit soggy.
It’s a clean place with friendly staff and it’s just close the ferry terminal
Always open late. One of the best staff on island for sure. It can be pricey but the food has really come a long way. The view is the best. The building itself is a historical gem. They also offer outdoor seating for pups to join you.
Enjoyed having lunch at this place with my friends for the long weekend. I appreciate the customer service, as we didn’t have a good experience with it at couple of other places in San Juan Island.
Chicken wings were on point! Maybe pasta wasn’t the best thing I could order at this place, but it was too good. Some dishes on the menu would seem a bit expensive, but that’s quite expected from a place like this. Good food, good ambience, and good customer service makes up for it.
They didn’t delay serving the food as well, which is something I definitely look for when I’m dining in. Would definitely visit this restaurant when I visit San Juan Island again!
