The first time I came here was in 1988 when I worked at an architect's office around the corner. The place was great then and it's still great now. I wish I lived closer. Thanks Rita!

Fremont's neighborhood German deli. It definitely feels like a place trapped in time. Off the bat, you should know, if you're a walk-in, you're gonna need to wait 15 - 30 min minimum. If you call in your order and she says it'll take 15 min, come in 25 min. That's just how it is. Essentially, the entire experience is like walking into your German friend's oma's kitchen, so there is no rush at all here. If you come with the expectation of excellent service and acknowledgement, then boy are you going to be disappointed. As for the sandwiches, I'd recommend either the Reuben on dark rye (you can only choose the bread when it's a full sandwich, otherwise it defaults to whatever she has on hand that's prepped for half sandwiches) or the currywurst with a bread roll with cheese and butter. As for beer, you've got a small, but good set of choices. I'd recommend the Korbinian doppelboch if you have a taste for full-bodied beer with earthy undertones.

Great little place with a warm home feel. No more pork chops but the sausage sandwich with German potato salad were excellent. Good fridge with a good selection of beers. We left with raw sausages for a meal at home with great bread. Good selection of games to play while relaxing with your beer and food.

Was closed for lunch on Friday. No note or anything. Was out of town and choose this place for the menu and grocery. Wish it would have been open for a proper review. Hours listed showed it should have been open.

Absolutely delicious, the owner was very nice and gave us recommendations on how we should order the sandwiches which may sound weird but she was completely correct. My friend and I split a Reuben and german brat bun and both of them were some of the finest sandwiches I've ever had. Expect to spend at least $10 per sandwich but you are getting your money's worth.

What a FIND! Just ate here the other day and was blown away. The place is part deli, part restaurant, but you feel like you’ve been transported to a grandmother’s house in Germany. So much to see, games at the tables and the food was cooked fresh for us. The owner even let us stay past closing time and was kind enough to offer a Kinder egg for our 9yo son. We’ll definitely be back again.
