First time at El Gallo, a family-run Mexican restaurant. The taco salad was good, but no beans. It was really cold inside the restaurant, so a little uncomfortable. Our waiter was very friendly and provided great service.

Be aware that payment methods Exclude Plastic of any kind. Go to the ATM first!
Be prepared to sip on your ice tea or soda. No alcohol means you can drive home without any concerns about the potential for a DUI.

Food was nothing fancy but it was good. More like home cooking. Waitress was very nice and friendly. Service was good and food was hot. Limited menu. No tamales or fajitas.

Haven't been in literally 10 years and it still taste the same...been going my whole life with my family....I remember eating on Friday nights and then having to race home so my mom could watch Dallas....always good hot sauce...try one of Joe's pralines when you leave!

I've been eating the best mexican food ANYWHERE at El Gallo since 1978....and they were not new to cooking at that time...I don't even bother to eat Tex-Mex any where else.
Very reasonable prices, great food, have had better service but IT'S THE FOOD BUBBA!!!
Very relaxed atmosphoere, family friendly, & GREAT FOOD cooked by the 2nd & 3rd generation of the Herrera family. (The fourth generation is working in the wings:)
Don't bother bringing your credit card or desire for alcohol...it ain't gonna happen.

Great TexMex food in a very pleasant ambience with friendly and attentive service. It is well worth driving the few miles out of Fredericksburg towards Harper on US 290.

This is original mexican food. All cooked and prepared on site. Good service. Wait could be longer as alot folks eat here
