Roppongi Japanese Restaurant

This place has the BEST SUSHI anywhere on the east coast. Everything is always fresh. My wife and I have been eating sushi here for several years and we pig out every time. We have had sushi in numerous joints all across the country and this place is second to none. I will say that they don't have a HUGE menu as some sushi joints, but everything they have is amazing. I read some posts on here about them not having great sushi and that it smells like "feces" etc. The place is literally a "hole in the wall" place and owned and operated by a husband and wife from Japan. Its not like going out to eat at a well known expensive franchise. It cannot be compared to something like that in the least bit. I cant find any place that is as consistent and great as this and the place does not smell. Its a great quiet atmosphere and owners are awesome and the sushi is off the hook! I might add that because the owners are from Japan and it is family run, the food is more authentic than what you would get elsewhere. Highly recommend the Spider rolls...nobody makes them better!

After weeks of craving sushi and finally arriving at payday I decided to treat myself to some sushi from a new place with good reviews. I really wanted to support this place because of it being locally owned and seemingly authentic food.......severely disappointed. I don't think anyone should eat here, primarily for food safety. I ordered to go and waited in my car while my husband ran in and paid. The first thing he said about the place was that it smelled strongly of feces. This should be alarming from any restaurant, especially one that serves raw fish but we brushed it off. When we got home, we found the order was incorrect, missing a roll and some of the fish smelled like vinegar.... The salmon was the color of raw chicken and was extremely wet. I'm worried that the fish that was served to us was bad and they rinsed it with vinegar to mask any smell, or perhaps, "sanitize". I absolutely hate throwing out food, especially something like fish but after eating only a few pieces of our food, I'm waiting for food poisoning tomorrow.... Also, being someone who isn't picky, this isn't always a deal breaker but is disappointing to see: the rolls were completely uneven in size, amount of rice, amount of fish/avocado; the california roll was missing the roe and cucumber; there was 10x more rice than anything. I hate to see an independent restaurant go under, but seriously, something has to change.
