Walt's Hitching Post

Walt's Hitching Post was nice right from the start. Very comfortable atmosphere. We were able to get a drink while we waited for our table to be ready. I wish there was a coat check. The appetizers were good. We did the oysters and escargot. I understand how oysters rockefeller works but the topping was overdone. The oyster itself should be the focus. The escargot was cooked in a cast iron pan in garlic and butter and was good but they are even better right out of the shell. Minimalistic. The streak I got was a dry aged bone in rib-eye and was fantastic. The side potato was dry. Overall, I think the food and experience was great. But a little overrated.

I had the ribs, they were good not exceptional. The others at the table had the same one had crab cake and bison burger. The bison was extremely good the crab cakes were adequate, more breadth and crab. My favorite item was the appetizer buffalo styled cauliflower. Another favorite was the salted rye bread Parking at the restaurant is $5 , One of our guests was handicapped and they had no handicap spaces available She had to go around back in order to get the wheelchair in.

Food was amazing and extremely well cooked. Pictured was filet with blue cheese butter topper. I have had 3 fantastic visits in the past couple months with different entrees and appetizers. I highly recommend and the service was much better than any of the other local steak houses. Make sure to call ahead for reservations.

Excellent wine selection. Great dessert choices. BIG dessert portions. We ordered the chocolate cake, the piece was big enough to serve three people, luckily our waitress told us ahead of time to order just one, it would be plenty for the both of us. It was. Service was excellent and the food was even better. Go for an enjoyable, relaxing anniversary or birthday meal.

First time there and definitely won't be the last. Loved the comfortable atmosphere and still being able to get 5 star food. Best lobster tail I have ever had, and the steak was cooked perfectly as well. The crab claws were a little tough to the shell, but still good. Amazing mac n cheese as well!! Wonderful staff also!

Appetizers were great. BBQ cauliflower and buffalo cauliflower were amazing. Salted Rye bread was definitely the hit. It was loaded with butter so what can go wrong. Fried chicken however was very underwhelming. I couldn’t eat more than few bites of it. Little dry and absolutely no taste. House dressing of tomatoes and garlic was really good.

Food was good. Sides were a little to cool to our liking. Steak was flavorful and so were the crab cakes. The only thing that bother her was that we watched every other table get their food boxed up by their server yet our server droped off containers for us to box our own food. Other than that Josh V was a great server.

Their food is delicious. My spouse had trouble with his entree, his steak was cold to the touch, it sat too long before all entrees were ready most likely. The server immediately responded and had a new steak prepared and brought him a complimentary serving of their steak chili. They quickly brought the freshly made steak. My bbq chicken was awesome. There food is of high quality and they responded quickly and professionally to the error.
