Review Esperanza's Mexican Cafe And Bakery - Fort Worth

Paul
I've had Esperanza's to-go before, but we decided to dine in yesterday. Overall, I did like the food more while at the restaurant than to-go, but that's how I'd describe 99% of restaurants. The flavors are obviously very similar to Joe Ts, which is a good thing. The tortillas, chips and salsa, beans, etc are all on point. The only real complaint is that they are probably a few dollars per entree too expensive for the food you are getting (lots of rice and beans).

I came for the Mole con Pollo and was not disappointed. Very cool joint with history in an awesome Fort Worth neighborhood. Mole was very authentic!

Alright, buckle up because we're about to dive into the world of Esperanza's Restaurant & Bakery, where the flavors collide with the chaos of a Saturday evening. Picture this: you walk into the joint, and it's packed. I mean, it's louder than a Metallica concert, with people yapping away at each other like there's no tomorrow. If you're looking for a quiet, romantic dinner, you might want to rethink your life choices. But hey, you're a warrior, so you soldier on and place your order. You go all in with the Beef Fajitas plate and the Carne De Puerco En Chile Rojo, which sounds like a title from a Spanish dictionary that nobody ever bothered to read. The waiter, bless his soul, senses your impatience and throws in some chips and salsa to keep you from going full-on Hulk mode while you wait for the main course. Now that's some smart thinking right there. And when the food finally arrives, oh boy, it's like they emptied a barnyard onto your plate. The Beef Fajitas are sizzling with flavor, so tender you could probably cut them with a smile. And let's not forget the Carne De Puerco En Chile Rojo. This dish is like a flavor explosion in your mouth, a fiesta of spice and succulence that'll make you question every bland meal you've ever eaten before. But here's the kicker: the portions are massive, I mean Texas-sized massive. You're gonna need a forklift to finish that plate. And the best part? The price won't leave you broke like your ex did. It's a good deal, my friend, a delicious steal. Now, let's talk ambiance. Remember how I mentioned the noise level earlier? Yeah, it's like being in the middle of a bullring during the running of the bulls. So, if you're planning on having an intimate conversation, you might as well learn sign language because nobody's hearing a damn thing. But hey, who needs deep conversations when you have mouth-watering food in front of you, right? All in all, Esperanza's Restaurant & Bakery is a wild ride. The chaos, the noise, the portions that could feed an army, and the flavors that'll make your taste buds go, "Holy guacamole!" It's a place where culinary delights meet a party atmosphere. So, bring your appetite, your earplugs, and get ready for a memorable experience that'll leave you with a belly full of goodness and a smile on your face.

Lunchtime. Seated immediately. Service was perfect. Queso and salsa were tasty. I ordered a torta which is French bread, freshly baked filled with choice of meat, lettuce, tomato, and pico. It came with French fries and beans. The house margarita was very good. All choices were excellent.

WOW portions! They bring out your food in BIG bowls! And it was all delicious, steaming hot and perfectly prepared. Nice thick chips that hold the right amount of salsa, LOTS. And good salsa. Friendly, attentive service. We'll be back.

This is a given recommend. Excellent everything these people feed you. The food is very flavorful. Delightful to your taste buds.

I prefer Esperanza’s as a breakfast joint. We had dinner here Friday night and while food was GREAT, it was crazy crowded. While we dined customers were standing, waiting for their table immediately beside my chair. It was crowded and loud. I could not hear my table mate sitting directly across from me. Staff was overloaded. Felt like we did not really have our server’s attention. That said, my dinner (beef fajitas) was terrific. Chips and salsa were off the chart. So good. I won’t be back on Friday night. Just too busy, crowded and loud. I’ll be there Saturday morning tho. Breakfast is fantastic. And a lot less of a scene.

A friend suggested I try this place. I went for breakfast and was pleased to have chips and salsa served with my coffee. I had 3 coworkers with me. Our food was wonderful, and the portions were HUGE. I had the migas and they were the bomb!

Atmosphere was fun, food was okay. We went for dinner and it was a cozy vibe with soft lighting and string lights along the wall. Food seemed to be hit or miss with our group. The red enchiladas were good. Had a hint of clove and cinnamon, similar to mole. Would NOT recommend the queso. It had the flavor and consistency of cream of mushroom soup and chicken. Did not seem to be an actual cheese of any sort. This is a sister restaurant of Joe T. Garcia's which had the same type of weird "queso" as well. Not sure what's up with that.

Delicious food, fair pricing and (when we went) NO wait. Esperanza's atmosphere, in the Park Pl Ave location, in ambiance is like coming HOME! It feels like you just walked into the neighborhood mom's house where everyone is happy, loved and well-fed! My 4 star rating on atmosphere was merely regarding the visual "appearance." They're service was fast and efficient. We had a couple of special requests, some were honored, some were rejected. But we were happy with the experience and the food just the same. For the sensitive---It is a smaller space so the "live" music (occasionally available) can be loud.

Food was fabulous, service was friendly and portions were large for a reasonable price. Bought some delicious baked goods for later on the way out. Great experience

I love the margaritas here and the staff has always been friendly. There is usually no wait. I didn't care for my gordita very much today. The beef had a funny flavor and there wasn't a whole lot of seasoning or something was just missing. I do usually like their breakfast tacos and their bakery. The conche was on point but the wedding cookies were dry and tastes a little more bland than usual. I will be back for the drinks and maybe some chips and queso.

These ratings are based on historical experiences more so than the lunch that the missus and I had today. Generally, we come here for breakfast and absolutely love it. Top-quality food at great prices. Today was about lunch. Wife got desebrada tacos and enjoyed them. I ordered red enchiladas with picadillo stuffing, but the meat was chunky, maybe asada. Worse, though, the red sauce was all cumin and sugar (I don't eat sugar), so I had to try to scrape the sauce off as best I could. They were very average, but at least the rice and beans were good.

My wife and I went here for breakfast. She said the chorizo and eggs tasted just as good as her Abuella's. Potatoes were very good as well but she likes her Abuella's better. Excited to come back and try more offerings.

Very good for breakfast and lunch.  Love the Chiliquilas and migas.  Frequently very poor service.  Lunch has usual tex mex, plus some authentic Mexican.  Dinner is spotty.  Go to the north side location for the same great food, but better service.
Bass4food
Good food, so-so service. There are plenty of great Mexican restaurants in DFW, maybe too many to keep the pressure on to really deliver a great dinning experience?  While all our meals were good and the chips and salsa terrific nothing stood out as exceptional. If I lived close by I might be a regular, assuming I found a good server I could ask for specifically. As a visitor I wasn't disappointed but I won't be planning a return trip or going out of my way for a return in the future.

Great breakfast food and huge portions. Had a Bloody Mary and Chiliquiles and it was exceptional. Ask for the special breakfast salsa - yum!

Dont Waste Your Time. We made a reservation for a friends engagement party at this location, we were in contact with a man that ran all 3 locations and he sent us picture of the locations being none of us had ever been there. The pictures that he sent us looked nothing like the place we showed up to. This man even told us he would waive a $250 deposit for the reservation, uh thanks? I honestly hope that they aren't really charging people a deposit for this place! We were able to get over the looks of the place but then started having service issues, the servers were extremely rude, i understand being busy with a large party but we were there about 2 hours i had 1 refills the whole time i was there and i had to ask for it. To top it off the food was horrible!! I read reviews about how good the food was and i don't know what these people ate but i just had tacos and there were so bad that i had to send them back! This was easily the WORST experience that I've ever had at a restaurant. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME!!

Everything about the food here is good. It's fresh and brought to your table without any muss or fuss. The place is attractive and clean, relaxing and inviting. When I first came in I thought this was going to be a favorite. After all, I like the one on Main very much. So much better than the detestable Joe T.'s which I have never been fond of. I thought my server was efficient at first. She took my order and brought wonderful chips and salsa. The chips are among the best around. They don't even need salsa. They seem to have a light sweet, crisp taste with a hint of lemon. I've had the scrambled eggs, chorizo and potatoes and both places and it is a great treat. The refried beans are smooth and creamy and really are done well.<br/><br/>The meal really was going well. I finished and waited for my check. I waited and waited and I tried to get one of the other servers attention but they would not make eye contact. Finally, I just stopped one of them and asked what I needed to do to pay. She said that my server would be with me right away. My server came back without much fanfare and left me the ticket. I left a twenty and she picked it up and took it back. A few minutes later a different server came to me and said "Did you have the eggs and chorizo?" I said, yes and she left me the change and thanked me.<br/><br/>I don't know what that was all about, but I had considered this as being a favorite. Now I think the food is really good, but just like what a lot of the others think about the service--not so hot. Bakery next door has some of the best pan dulce between here and Mexico. I bought three cuernitos to take home. Cinnamon and sugar dusted on top. Excellent. I may stick to the Esperanzas on Main in the future for meals though. It's closer to me and there is less weirdness.

Breakfast Burritos. Ordered the potato and eggs burrito and loved it. Large portions and great taste...if you've never had Mexican coffee, this is the place to try it.

Price change. Order the fish tacos and taco plate, fish 8.89 and tacos 7.99. Call ahead indeed.

Mrs.castillo. I order a papas and eggs burrito only and got back to the hospital and opened up my burrito and it had beans.then I call up there to let them know they had made it wrong and said to bring it back and they would replace but I couldnt go back today due to my dad having heart surgery.and Mr. Rivera said that company policy is to bring the food back or recipt I told him that the girl did not give me one and that how was i suppose to bring it back if I cant make it today and said he would put my name down for next time .But there wont be a next I was not very Happy with this place at all service is real bad.

Very Disappointed. I had not eaten Migas in a couple of years and was looking forward to a tasty meal, especially after reading the reviews here. Unfortunately, the migas were mostly tortilla and very little egg. The red chile was okay but the flavor overwhelmed the rest of the dish. My companion ordered chorizo and egg and was equally unimpressed. The tortillas, however, were fluffy, fresh and good. Maybe I'm spoiled living in New Mexico and eating the best chile in the world, however, I've eaten Migas in Austin and loved the subtle mix of the flavors of the egg, chile and tortilla bits. If I were you, I'd search for a place that isn't as popular for a more flavorful breakfast. On a positive note, I bought pumpkin and sweet potato empanadas to eat on my drive back to NM and those were quite good.

Nachos are delish. Great price. Great food

Great Breakfast. We come here just about every Sunday morning for breakfast. We are never disappointed, the food is consistently good. I love the migas and always order an arnold Palmer to drink. Would highly recommend this place for breakfast!

We eat here regularly. The food for the most part is good. I do take issue with having to pay for extra flour tortillas. Joe T's does not charge for them and they are owned by the same family. The tacos when ordered a la carte are almost as expensive as the burritos, so go ahead and order a burrito instead. Our regular servers are always good. My wife really likes the enchiladas and the chilaquiles are some of the best in Fort Worth.
Heidi
Great salsa and decent semi-authentic Mexican food. Definitely one of my favorite Mexican food restaurants in the area.

Get the green!. My Northside favorite. Do yourself a favor and order the green chicken enchiladas.

Cutting down on expenses?. Esperanza's at Park Place, in the hospital district, always has been a favorite of ours. Barely a week passes without us taking out a quick lunch from there: burritos, nachos, tostadas…. excellent Tex-Mex food. Most often, I had "nachos supreme" for myself; very filling, rich cheese topping, lots of meat (beef). How disappointing then that for their beef nachos supreme they recently switched from beef pieces to ground meat (picadillo). I guess, they are cutting down on expenses... As I said: disappointing...

First time here to eat. It was everything I had expected it to be. Very good! I'll be back.

The service was great and I loved the Carnitas plate. This is my second trip to Ft Worth and second trip to Esperanza's. Really like this place.

So disappointed. My two teenagers and I were in the mood for breakfast, and I had noticed how highly rated Esperanzas was. All three of us commented on how flat and dull everything tasted, and not particularly cheap for breakfast either. I'm going back to try lunch, but breakfast was a total bust. I would recommend Fernandez on Vickery if you want a good tex mex breakfast.

Dependable Yummy Food and great value!. My family loves a good breakfast at Esperanza's!<br/>The migas are ALWAYS great! The burritos are huge and worth way more than the small price tag!

Excellent salsa and awesome food!! Very authentic!! Definitely recommend to anyone who loves real authentic Mexican food!!

Awesome Authentic Food. I used to go to the Main St location for over 30 years and now have found the Park Place location. The food is great and consistant. The wait staff is friendly and efficient. I've even taken food out and it's the same value and is delicious. I am a fan and have been for years!

Place on the outside kinda scared me, I'm a white chick from suburbia, but I was with my bf who insisted we go inside to try it out. 30 mins later, we're stuffed and quite happy! Dinner was very enjoyable and the prices are average. I will definitely recommend this place and we will be back! :)
Danielle
Not so impressed. Service was horrible. Barbacoa was average...I'd actually prefer chipotle. Migas were pretty good, the chorizo was lean and tender. Got some pastries on the way out...and they were good and very inexpensive.

Amazing breakfast burritos and pan dolce! Lunch fare is only so so...

Void of past charm and flavor. Back at its previous location, Esperanza's was a restaurant full of Mexican tastes and atmosphere. My family and I would dine oftenly, each of us enjoying the deliciously crispy tortilla chips served as appetizers followed by the flavorful main courses. I would always get the "chile relleno burrito", a massive pepper stuffed with cheese, heated until the cheese was melted, and wrapped in a flour tortilla and freshly cut vegetables.<br/>During my last visit, however, my family and I were not impressed. It seemed as if the restaurant was under new ownership, though the new look of the place wasn't horrible. Infact, it was quite a welcomed sight to see the walls painted with new art on the walls. Unfortunately it became apparent that the new owners had traded good food for a more aesthetically pleasing atmosphere. My "chille relleno burrito" was nothing more than a mediocrely warmed stuffed pepper wrapped in what beared semblance to a store bought splotchy tortilla. No vegetables were added and the service lacked the traditional amiability we had grown so accustomed to. We haven't been back since.

5 Stars out of 5. Fantastic Food. Good Prices. Wonderful variety. Great fresh baked goods too. Make sure to have cash. Great spice, with a bit more Mexican flare, but still great TexMex.

Great food for the price. I love this place, kinda a hole in the wall kinda place. Bring CASH or checks. No credit or debit card excepted. This has been an issue for me once or twice. The food is fresh and it priced well. I love the sopas and the pico de gallo. It's a lot of food on one plate but I usually share with my kids. The waitress speak english that's always a plus and the service is great. Espanzas is two tumbs way up

From great to terrible. A group of us had been breakfasting at Esperanza's on Hemphill at Rosedale for a number of years. We loved the food and enjoyed the people. <br/><br/>Then they moved. Left their people behind. Food was about the same but the service was lacking. Then the food got worse. Then they really started changing the recipes. We spoke to this week's manager several weeks in a row. The last time we were there, I told the waitress that if my Migas were soupy again, I would refuse them. <br/><br/>They were. I did. We haven't been back.<br/><br/>I still miss the old Migas...

Terrible service today . Food was decent .

Breakfast. Ther server acted a little angry that we actually wanted food. With that said the food was very good. I had the Chiliquiles Verde and found them to be really well prepared, hot but not spicy. I also enjoyed the refried beans. I will go back and hope to get a different waiter.

Have you been down to Italebamexobesirishgrill Town portion of Fort Worth yet? Thats right, we have our own little neighborhood melting pot. Its also sort of a restaurant row for hole in the walls and an area that drips with Southside Cool. Lets break dow
