Ok, ok, haven't been here in years either. Place has changed but still good food. The service was excellent and friendly. Had a decent time there. Drinks were ok too...
Best tex-Mex I've had in a while. I cleaned my plate! I enjoyed the queso and then a combination platter including one of their chicken enchiladas with sour cream sauce and a tamale with a chili con Carne. The chips had a seasoning on them and were the perfect start. The polo mexicana platter was equally delicious and there classic taco platter. they're Spanish rice is by far the top side ahead of any restaurant thus far in Texas.
I'm going to start by saying that this review would have gotten 3 stars but our waitress Michelle was amazing so it bumped it up a star.
Pros:
-The service was amazing (Michelle), food came out quick, and we always had chips, salsa, and water.
- good atmosphere
- large variety on the menu
-affordable
-the food was mostly very good. I loved their chips and salsa
-again, the service was awesome so I need to mention that again.
Cons:
-we ordered two steak a La Mexicana meals and for some reason one was cooked different than the other. Mine was more "boiled" texture and the other was more charred (grilled) flavor. The inconsistency was weird there.
-Shrimp quesadilla had a lot of cheese. Even for someone who likes cheese there was a lot of cheese.
-Flautas were really really burnt on the ends but the inside was delicious.
-Verde sauce tasted too earthy for me.
Overall, I would come here again but saying it's the best Mexican food I've ever had would be a stretch. But I loved the atmosphere, service, and the food was pretty good.
My wife and I were one of the original customers here in the mid 80s. It was good then but even better now . At 3:30 in the afternoon we were greeted as we entered and were promptly sedated . Ordered margaritas that were excellent. Aldo was our server. He was helpful in selecting meal. Did not rush us nor over attentive. Food was served promptly and was fresh and hot. A little pricey but the serving was huge. Brought a serving home. Definitely worth driving for it. Go hungry. Hope you have as good an experience as we did. UPDATE Enjoyed an excellent lunch along with the test of the emergency alert system on Wednesday. We were greeted as entered, seated immediately and served chips as we sat down. Angel was our server. Took our order for margaritas 🍹, they only have 1 size, large. Not only was it delicious, but priced for any budget. Ten lunch specials were priced at $8.99 and serving size was more like higher priced dinner plate. Everything was perfect. Best Tex-Mex in the metroplex.
This place was packed, and I knew why. The food is amazing. Packed with flavor. I got a seat right away. The portion sizes are huge. Definitely going back and will recommend to others.
great little gem for Mexican food... atmosphere will just about always have large parties and small kids crying... (kids cry, it happens).
food is good and filling, large menu selection, friendly staff, affordable, never have had a bad experience.
chips are hands down some of the best, salsa is decent, but the seasoned chips... that seasoning is delicious...if you know, you know.
Recommend.
Everyone is so nice. The host on the phone taking an order greeted me and told me she would be with me in a second. While I was waiting the other waiters greeted me also. Since she was on the phone still the manager was willing to take my order. Food was great and came out quickly.
6.21.22 @1pm - dined in for 4. Ordered ajo shrimp salad ($12.99) and chicken chimichanga dinner ($14.29). Waiter was nice and kind of attentive, but I had to track him down once or twice for utensils. Food was very tasty and fresh. Delicious complimentary chips and salsa. Unfortunately, I forgot to ask for dressing and was just about done with the salad when I realized something was missing. Overall, decent dining experience because the food was what I wanted.
This restaurant has been on my list forever and we finally made it! Food was sooo yummy! Service was excellent! Atmosphere was also wonderful. My favorite part was the chips and tortillas! Chips were seasoned and tortillas were warm! Highly recommend!
I came here with my family and I was pleasantly surprised. The service was great, the atmosphere was nice. The food was delicious. I ordered the chicken quesadilla, my children ate tacos and we all enjoyed the chips and queso. My only complaints are that the tortillas were not homemade they tasted store bought for sure and I didn't like having to wait in line at the register to pay the check. Waiting in a line with kids jumping around while we're all blocking the front door was super uncomfortable, for me at least. Other than that we had a nice experience. We'll most likely go back.
