Comfort food at its finest. George is great!! I have eaten everything on the menu and never been dissatisfied. If you want a mouth watering burger you must try the Western Bacon Cheese burger. The burger is only made better with the spicy special sauce and the wonderfully seasoned fries.
Excellent food from their burgers to their gyros. Their prices are pretty reasonable, two can dine for about $20. I highly recommend ordering “frings” with any combo, especially the Golden burger.
Wonder local spot!! Love that they have pictures with the menu. The burger is amazing. Quality of the meat is great. Their onion rings are yummy as well as their seasoned fries. Manager came by and checked on us and was so personable. They even give teachers a discount! We will be back.
I have no experience Chicago street food, but my wife does after spending a month and a half up there for work. She has had a craving for an Italian beef for years now, and finally I decided we were going to find her one in Fort Worth. Tex's came highly recommended in the Fort Worth Foodies group on Facebook, so we took a leap of faith. I'm so glad we did!! We've been here twice now, and it's been amazing both times. I've had the Italian beef with and without the sausage, but the sausage takes it to a whole different level. I told my coworker (who is from Chicago) about this place and he has visited frequently now. He did mention they aren't completely familiar with the Chicago language for wet/dry, but he just kind of laughed it off and I wouldn't know either way. He loves it, and so do we!
They appreciate that you carry a weapon plus the burger is quite tasty without being greasy. The fries and onion rings were flavorful without the oily aftertaste. Well done
Great service, food was grilled to order, staff was very friendly. We got the mushroom Swiss burger and the golden burger(pic). We’ll definitely be back.

I went and placed a very large to-go order. The owner greeted me upon entry. Although I fumbled through ordering making multiple changes to every combo ordered.
The cashier easily and patiently managed entering the order. Explained any extra charges for upgrade and was very gracious in her demeanor. She was very knowledgeable of the menu items and made great suggestion along the way.
I was getting the drinks when the owner offered to get a box for the drinks and food so it was easier to transport home.
As I then waited for my food, watching the grill team hammer through multiple orders. It was really quite impressive to watch. Great teamwork!
Before I knew it my large to-go order was done quickly. Surely they missed something?
Everything (even though complex) was as ordered, cooked perfectly and amazingly packaged separately by entree/sides/condiments and desserts.
Solid 4. Onion rings were so-so. Large but no flavor. Needs a dipping sauce. Fries were decent but needed ketchup. Greek salad was great with large strips of gyro meat. Golden burger with pastrami was spot on as was the chili burger. Have yet to try the rest. But will return when in the area.
Tex's Star Grill is a gem! The food is beyond fantastic; I've never tasted onion rings and fries this delicious. The owner's personal touch, checking on customers, adds a special touch. The entire staff is incredibly friendly. A must-visit for a top-notch dining experience!
My late sister and I used to always come here during our college years. She always ordered a grilled chicken sandwich combo with Swiss cheese. I still order it the same way she did! This sandwich is fire!!! Like seriously, so delicious, seasoned to perfection. The sandwich and fries are always fresh! I highly recommend pairing your sandwich and fries with the home sauce. You will not be disappointed.
This place is awesome! 1st, it's CLEAN! No bugs or flies at all. 2nd the staff was super friendly and helpful. I always appreciate it when I ask for a recommendation they actually have something to recommend! Get the Golden burger combo. Pastrami on a hamburger!
Great Chicago dog and gyro sandwich the tzatziki sauce was excellent, onion rings were thin and perfectly crunchy, the house sauce for the onions was very good… fast service, good food, great price… next time I’ll try the burgers person next to us said they don’t go anywhere else, their burgers are open flame grilled
