Review Shinjuku Station - Fort Worth

FOOD IG: @northtx.gemz 🍒WHAT THEY’RE KNOWN FOR: cute little Japanese food restaurant offering authentic eats on magnolia street. 🍒WHAT WE ORDERED: • Spider Roll • Chicken Karaage • Beer Braised Pork Buns • Garlic Rub Albacore Sushi • Shiro Maguro (white tuna) Nigiri • Okonomiyaki 🍒 PRICE: ~$70 + tip 🍒 THE VIBE: super casual, intimate and kind of indie hipster vibes. 🍒 WOULD I COME BACK? Maybe. •••• Overall Rating: 8.5/10 - Another sushi spot to try on your list! If you like very authentic sushi (literally they don’t put avocado, cream cheese, or any heavy sauces in any of their sushi or dishes) this is the place for you! - The spider roll was immaculate I liked it a lot. I liked the freshness of the garlic rub albacore, but I think I would stick to salmon or tuna next time. I loved the white tuna nigiri it was so fresh! - The most unique thing I had was the okonomiyaki which is basically a fried sushi-like pizza? It had a lot of flavor and honestly wish I didn’t order the chicken karaage (not good to me) so I could enjoy the pizza more (since they were both fried it was a lot together). - The pork belly buns were very good too but honestly you could skip on that. Overall, they pay attention to the prep of food and it’s a pretty solid place! I only said maybe I would come back only because I like super cute places and this was a definitely casual, hipster place so it’s personal preference. Service was AMAZING btw. Everyone is so nice and made the experience very enjoyable.

Loved our time at Shinjuku. Definitely get reservations because there were limited tables. The pork buns were fabulous. The takoyaki (octopus fritters) melted in my mouth. Sushi was great. The old fashioned was a little sweet for my taste but house saki was just what I needed.

Great sushi and great service. The rolls, and specialty dishes are nice and fresh. Sitting at the sushi bar is good because you can get suggestions from the chef. Sake is good both warm and cold.

Working lunches are much more sweet here! We sampled a couple of rolls, a bento box, and a chicken bowl. All delightful! I’ll have to go back for a happy hour 🍻

Alrighty. Came here on Friday just in time for their happy hour. We got the sake salmon, Tok fries, beer braised pork buns, okonomiyaki, and chicken karaage. The sake salmon was simple but good. A good salmon to rice ratio is always appreciated. The Tok Fries was very large. Definitely this can be shared between 3-4 people. The chili mayo and furikake seasoning was a pretty unique way of eating fries. The beer braised pork buns were by far my favorite item of the evening. The pork was very juicy, flavorful, and tender. It has a good amount of fat that melted with each bite. The bun was there to absorb the fat. Delicious and highly recommended. The chicken karaage was average. I thought it usually came with a lemon but ours didn't. Lastly the okonomiyaki. I did not really like this item. It just wasn't for me. The sauce and everything made it very filling and difficult for me to enjoy. Overall, it was a good experience. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere.

Great and friendly service, excellent sushi & nigiri. Not shy with the fish portions either, which was surprising and refreshing. Recommend 100%. They offered a diverse menu if sushi is not everyone in your party’s speed. Ramen and bento selections too.

You have to go for the Omakase experience and ask for chef Chris if he is available. I cannot believe how good this experience was. You order your drinks, give him a price cap and any items or ingredients you want to stay away from, and then you sit back and food is delivered to you that the chef thinks is the best option. Chef Chris has several of his own personal creations that you won't find anywhere else including the one in the photo with the apple flower. I've had a good bit of sushi in my life and I've been to some extremely expensive sushi restaurants in the past and nothing compares to the flavor, presentation, and service that we recieved at Shinjuku. I will definitely be returning and bringing all of my friends who love sushi and I suggest you do the same.

Server was attentive & had great recommendations. Surprisingly, my favorites were the swiss chard (fresh without being bitter) & wild mushrooms. I mixed the sauces with a bowl of rice & was pretty content scarfing that down. My next favorite was the hama chili (another server recommendation). The fish was sliced perfectly thin & had a slight kick from the chili. The only disappointment was that they ran out of the matcha panna cotta dessert. Parking is a bit scarce due to construction & go to the back of the building for the entrance.

Been here twice. Best thing is to give your server a dollar limit and let them take you on a food journey. Done it twice and not disappointed. Make sure to let them know if you are opposed to certain foods.

The food here was amazing!!! The fry portion was amazing and my favorite thing. Everything was fresh and good sized portions. We definitely ordered too much food but so affordable and worth it. I’ll be back definitely. (Must have the tok fries)

My husband and I went here for the first time for our anniversary dinner. It was fantastic, the servers were so knowledgeable about the menu, and the food was outstanding! So delicious and flavorful!

Wonderful experience especially for the first time! Lexi and MiMi made our evening the best by sharing ideas on what to choose! Completely explained in detail what we would be ordering and continued by explaining as it arrived to the table! MiMi was training with Lexi but MiMi's smile was incredible and made me smile! I would definitely refer friends and family here. Just keep in mind your getting the real deal there is no fillers here! I hope your experience here is as wonderful as ours!

Great date night spot! Always fresh, extremely flavorful. We have ordered the majority of the menu and have yet to be dissatisfied with anything we’ve tried! The staff is friendly and helpful with the menu if you have not dined there before. It’s best to make a reservation on weekends because of the popularity of this place! Hope you try it and enjoy the food and atmosphere. Pro Tip: Happy hour is off the chain and a great way to try out this spot for the first time! Just get there before 6:30. The ‘Shinjukurita’ is amazing. Gotta try the Tok Fries too!

Great sushi chefs. They were so busy on a Saturday night but everyone was super sweet and doing their best! Helpful hint: Order the sashimi instead of rolls/sushi…

The food was fabulous and just in my price range. I loved the fact that it was authentic Japanese food and sushi with smaller plates. You can order a larger number of smaller plates and still not break the bank. I enjoyed everything. I recommend the Tok fries! The seasoning is so unique and I'm in love with the dips!

This is decent sushi spot, albeit limited in menu and availability. Great option for dining in and taking out. However, the staff always greets you or approaches you as if you're crazy and not welcome when entering. As if you stumbled in by accident. Ease of access to the restaurant is also pretty poor, since they moved the entrance from the front of the building on Magnolia to the backdoor by the dumpsters and drains next to the fancy new paid parking garage (to which to my knowledge they do not offer any parking assistance for, so DO NOT park there). Great little spot, but pretty poor thinking on layout and accessibility.

Best Japanese restaurant in the Dallas Fort Worth area! Food was extremely tender and delicious. Customer service was kind and attentive.

Amazing sushi, service and patio! I highly recommend the sweet jalapeĂąo roll! Not hot if your scared of hot FYI. Shishido peppers are top notch and the manager Michael was amazing checking on us as well as our server! Will definitely be going back! #shinjukustationrocks

My coworker and I went here for lunch today and were very disappointed. We ordered a Spider Roll and the chicken kabobs (I don’t remember the exact name of the dish). The chicken was very tough and the roll tasted like it came from the bottom of a lake. Also, they were having a fruit fly problem which was confirmed by our waitress! They kept landing on our food! We ate only about 1/2 of our food because of the horrible taste and the fruit flies! Gross!!!

Me and my husband come here quite a bit. I'm pretty sure some of the staff recognize us every time by now, lol. This is seriously the BEST Japanese cuisine restaurant I've ever been too. If you go on a busy night, the food is most definitely worth the wait. If you go for lunch, i recommend the Miso Ramen. It's the best! And when they have it, the braised pork buns are to die for. I love this little restaurant, and so glad we discovered it a couple of years back. It has seriously been a pleasure getting to try everything off the menu. You won't regret the service you get, or the food. It's amazing!

This place is awesome! Great staff, amazing food, and atmosphere is killer. Very much more on the authentic side compared to your other places. I recommend trying this at least once, especially if youre used to the more americanized stuff (not saying thats bad at all). Go in and give it a shot, just dont be one of those jerks who go in last minute. They work hard!

Did not have the sushi, I'm just not a sushi person. Simple menu with appealing choices. The French fry appetizer was excellent. Loved the seasoning and dipping sauce. I loved the build your own Bento. Green tea noodles were very good. We also had the bowl with beef and it was delicious. Attention to details was apparent in all the preparation and delivery of each dish. Server was very knowledgeable of the menu. Very good service. Will return to try more menu items.

By far one of the best places to grab a bite to eat! The flavors blows your taste buds out of the water. Love, love, love it! Traveling six hours and this place was so worth it, staff was AMAZING and the food was delicious! The prices where not that bad either, super affordable! Will stop by here anytime!!

Great food, quaint building, good music, good service. Didn't drop the full 5 since the pork in my gyoza was borderline raw...other than that it was great, especially the Tok Fries!

Absolute favorite place to eat sushi in Fort Worth! Love healthy bento box, seaweed salad, surprise me white & red. Had the new scallop salad yesterday, best salad I've ever had! Love Shinjuku!
Savannah Montier
Went here for the first time and loved it! They have my favorites: squid salad, quail eggs, and amazing salmon sashimi. We enjoyed the a la carte tempura options, miso soup, and the king crab roll! I was excited to try the yellowtail collar, and it did not disappoint!

The food was good but was priced high for what you received. Warning:There is only one bathroom for men and woman so the line gets long. Also you can't get into the restaurant from the Main Street which I thought was strange, you have to enter from the back where the patio is.
Scotty Baker
Amazing wait staff, amazing spicy margaritas, amazing mussels, and amazing nigiri. You must try the garlic rubbed albacore. It's my new fav!
