Reviews Roadside 'que

Got to try this place out last weekend while in Fort Payne. It's got pretty solid bbq! As the name suggests, it's more or less Roadside - we were driving along the main drag with Google maps open when suddenly we were instructed to turn right into our destination. We saw the smoker out front and knew we were in the right place! Upon entering, we were greeted by a very friendly older gentleman who asked us if it was our first time. We confirmed that it was and he gave us a helpful, in-depth explanation of all their offerings, as well as their philosophy on locally grown ingredients. Fiancé got ribs, I got a pulled pork sandwich with macaroni and cheese, fiancé's sister got the mac and cheese meal with pulled pork on top, and her husband also got the pulled pork sandwich meal with slaw, if I remember correctly. Fiancé and I also split a side of the green chili, as neither of us had ever had it before and wanted to try. Overall, the bbq was good. My dining companions liked it more than me, but I'm a good bit pickier than they are when it comes to 'que. The pulled pork I would describe as closer to chunked pork, which is not my preference. The pieces were large, square shaped, and piled upon the sandwich bun. The meat itself was tender and flavorful, though the bun didn't stand up to it and the sauce super well so I wound up eating it with a fork. Fiancé and his family all stated they were very happy with their meals. I tried a bite of his ribs and found them flavorful albeit a little chewy. The sweet and tangy bbq had a decent flavor but was a little thin for my tastes. Neither of us were super fond of the green chili, but I suspect it was more just not to our palates rather than there being anything wrong with the dish. It's unique, full of meat and veggies, very thick with a friendly kick. I'd be interested to know what people more familiar with the dish think of this version. To me, the best thing by far was the macaroni and cheese. Perfectly cooked noodles, creamy, complex cheese sauce, and a perfectly sized portion with some grated cheese on top to add texture. If I visited again, I would absolutely reorder that!

This is an absolutely fantastic establishment. The employees were extremely friendly and the entrées cultivated a culinary experience so revolutionary that my soul left my body for an unknown amount of time. This restaurant has permanently imprinted itself upon my memory and has pleased me beyond measure. Highly recommend a visit no matter where you are.

Stopped by on vacation. Everyone was friendly and the place was nice. We ordered two family meals for take out. Unfortunately the servings did seem like they were worth the price. Everything had a spicy kick so if.younlike that then you'll be in heaven. I wish there were more descriptions about the sides I have small kids and if I hand not tried the beans we would have had a problem they are super spicy along with coleslaw. Ribs were ok but again I thought we should have more based on the order of a whole slab.

This was one of the highlights of our trip across the state border to AL because it's what I would define as 'elevated BBQ'. From the moment we walked in, Greg greeted us with a big smile and went through the menu for us and helped seat our big group. Before we even ordered, he brought us a sample of the warm German potato salad that was his mother's recipe and also let us sample the coleslaw with the grilled shrimp. We ordered the family pack of brisket and pork and got the potato salad, coleslaw, and the brussels sprout hash for our sides. The buns for the bbq was grilled and warm to make sandwiches. The side dishes are what really makes Roadside Que stand out.

The owner was friendly, set was great. And the food was exceptional. We were on vacation and he took the time to explain the menu and some of the favorite dishes they offer. Definitely recommend.

All sauces are made in house except the ranch dressing. 😀 Meats were flavorful and tender! Barbecue sauces were great! Staff were really friendly. We loved our meal and will stop in again when we pass through Fort Payne.
