Amazing fried grouper sandwich with good grated sauce and garlic bread. Haven’t had a grouper sandwich that good in ages. Service was friendly and fast. Definitely worth going out of your way for.
Not bad. Not great. Would eat here again if I don't find another seafood place better in Fort Myers. I had the Skip One Platter blackened. Decent!
Great food and great service. The place was pack and I could tell why as soon as my fisherman's platter arrived. The blacked fish was excellent and the crab cakes were the best I've had. Definitely my favorite place to go in the area. I'll be back.
Skip 1 Seafood Market and Restaurant, Tamiami Trail, Fort Myers, FL., Here is my 2 cents on the food and some chit chat. Oh my the fresh food. First the in-house perfectly sweeten ice cold tea.Excellent.... My sides. In house made creamy potatoe salad with a tad of red & green bell peppers MMMMM. Fresh and crunchy coleslaw. Old school delight. Now my just got out of the ocean seafood platter. Four jumbo size local shrimp, 4 or so tender scallops, .....Crunchy though a bit chewy fried to perfection clams. A good size fish filet to add tartar sauce and malt vinegar for those English fish and chip fan. AHHHH lets not forget the 4-5 inch diameter crab cake, loaded with crab and those bell peppers for taste.
This is old school atmosphere with as it should be fresh fish. A reminder of better, slower day. The old world beach charm. With a fresh market case to select from the fish monger and carry home the next day meal.
Or if you prefer, all you want and can eat from shrimp or grouper, Sunday - Thursday entrees. at a reasonable price. Good prices of $15- 39 bucks plus in between...Or for the smaller appetite a singular but outstanding meal.
YOU Must try this 30 plus year old traditional Florida eatery.
Note: you can miss it driving south on 41/Tamiami Trail(right side). It is place back from the roadway.....It has 1 shaded handicapped space, in front of the main entrance, next to seating under some trees. There are 3 other parking spaces in front. BUT LOTS of parking in the rear of the establishment.
For all the snowbirds, newbies and old farts who has retired here , come check out this place.
Really great local seafood. Like the no frills atmosphere. My beer came in a big plastic cup. Had conch chowder and really liked it..........
Not fancy at all, which added it to us. The food was excellent, the service great. Going back again. Fish market in the front, for carry and go. If you're in fort Myers and don't stop, you're missing the boat. : )
Been going here for years. No ambiance but great food. Grilled, fried, blackened no matter what it's always good. Really good soups too. If you live close like we do great take out option too.
Hidden little gem. They have a small selection of fresh seafood which was seasoned and grilled very well, and Sunday thru Thursday have some great all you can eat specials with catfish and grouper. However the place is divey but not in a bad way so don't go in expecting a 5 star dining area and you won't be disappointed. Food is basic, but is good and service was good as well.
Great service & great food! Everything was excellent except for the crab cakes. They were average but the clam strips were some of the best I've ever had!
Had just fished all day and were driving home when we saw the seafood sign. We were up for trying something new, so stopped. We had anticipations of a dive, with great food. It lived up to our expectations! Grouper nuggets were great and a ton of them. We had the cold stone crab app with a special "mustard" sauce...delicious! Also had the fried oyster platter which was delicious. Overall, good food and good value. Glass of wine, $3.25, can't beat it!
Delicious as always. I made a repeat trip over the weekend. Yes, I will admit to "snow birding". Skip1 has the freshest seafood in the area. It's not much of a place for "décor" and the fresh fish case is right in your face when you enter the door. But, the freshness and flavor makes up for it. You can't go wrong with the chowder and do not pass up the stone crab, when in season. But my favorite by far is the steamed spicy shrimp. They are not "hot/heat" spicy, but bathed in a buttery sauce full of dried spices. Simply amazing and so fresh they melt in your mouth. I don't care for most of the side dishes -- just belly filler--- and stick to the main seafood items. The service has always been super friendly. I'm ready to go back.
So impressed .. Great clam chowder great, and the waitress just told an elderly gentleman that he gave her a fifty instead of s twenty... Those people still exist... Gotta live that
Not fried seafood only!. The previous reviewer, Erin/Andy or whoever, is incorrect. Any of the seafood at Skip One can be prepared broiled, grilled, fried, or broiled Cajun style. I have never even heard of deep fried salmon! If the reviewer didn't ask the server if his fish could be prepared differently, that is the fault of the reviewer. Their deep-fried seafood, especially shrimp, is exceptional...but you are NOT limited to fried seafood.
Dinner sept 2013.1st Tim here in several years.I had forgot how good it is. Hole in the wall dump neighborhood gem. Extremely fresh cooked to order. I
Great place stop in every time down.Must get the shrimp fried or steamed are good.
We where looking for fresh great seafood with atmosphere not so important! We stumbled upon Skip One! The seafood was fantastic the menu diverse and the price of dinner was surprising very affordable family friendly in all ways!
We had the King Crab legs with conch fritters app. Pretty much the best seafood I've ever had!! Would recommend this place to any seafood lover.
I am was told this place had the best grouper and shrimp. They were right! Will go back every year.
Go for the food! Excellent fish and seafood. Great staff and customers. Good place for a tourist to meet nice locals. Fish was simply prepared, allowing the natural taste to come through.
Skip One is the epitome of perfect seafood. I've had grouper at over 100 restaurants theoughout the U.S. and confirm Skip One as the best... This place is the real deal...
Great. It is not often you'll catch me eating at the same location twice, little lone in the same week ... and it will probably be three before this week ends. Ya just can't beat it ... it just priced way too cheap!!
Lew & Carol. Ate there on Feb 9th....wife had clam strip dinner....tasty, LOTS of clam strips (puts Fish House Restaurant to shame)....fresh, good salad and cole slaw.
I had the combination plate with clam strips and oysters......very fresh oysters and clams, breaded just right, delicious (wife ate a lot of my oysters but I still had plenty...servings are huge)......had to wait around 20 minutes for seating on a late afternoon, but well worth the wait!!!! Service was excellent once seated. Place is small as is the parking area.....but the good food overcomes all obstacles!!!
Delicious, super fresh only downside is the wait to get in.
We always look for the local "dives" for the absolute best fresh seafood. This one did not disappoint! Only disappointment was the small hushpuppies - small, overcooked...and NO onions. Fried shrimp awesome - Grouper even better. Will go back for sure!
It's a dive but it's worth it!! We went on a Saturday around 12, small establishment but quick service. Food was phenomenal. We had hush puppies for an appetizer, and split the combo platter: fried oyster and fried crab cake with fries and potato salad. Wasn't a fan of hush puppies but tried them anyway. Everything else was stellar- and low $.

It's the kind of place that should be featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. Dumpy building, but some of the best seafood I've had since moving to Florida. The conch chowder was really flavorful. The fried oysters were plump and not at all greasy. The fried gator was the most tender I've ever had. So good! Proof one more time that you can trust a full parking lot when choosing an eating place.
Good food, fair price. Very casual atmosphere, but the food is fresh, tasty and plentiful...busy little spot and popular for a reason
I have been here before. I took my for lunch recently and she love it. The best seafood we ever had. Five stars all the way.
Wow! Delicious! We never would have stopped of we didn't read the reviews! Total hole in the wall but best seafood in the area! The coconut shrimp were HUGE and u get about NINE of them plus two sides! The clam chowder was SO thick and hearty! Don't pass this place up!
Back home in Indiana and still thinking about that crunchy grouper sandwich. When traveling, I am always looking for the "mom and pops" for authentic tasty eats and Skip One fills that bill to a T. Try the fresh thick grouper sandwich quickly deep-fried for a light but very crunchy coating. Superb! The best I've had!
After reading the reviews we decided to try it. Crunchy grouper was awesome. Quick service. Great food!
Where to get a seafood fix!. I love a crunchy grouper sandwich with a cup of 1/2 and 1/2 clam and conch chowder with a cold beer, YUMMMMM!!!!
Now I know why all the people and cars were lined up here one Sunday afternoon. In spite of no atmosphere, the seafood is wonderful. Portions are large;combos big enough to share. Can highly recommend their fried shrimp, fried oysters, and their crunchy grouper sandwich. Only thing I'd skip is their conch chowder...way too peppery and not enough conch. Will definitely cone back to try their clams, softshells, etc
Great food great people. Get there early to get a seat.
GREAT. This is what seafood is all about !!
Best Seafood in Fort Myers. Don't mistake the size of this restaurant, you won't find any better seafood. Love this place and glad the snowbirds are back, be prepared to wait, but well worth the wait!!!
Best seafood. The food was great and so was the atmosphere.
Absolutely amazing. Just wow. It was that good. You must go
Not much on atmosphere, presentation, or service. But fresh fantastic seafood. You could spend a lot more for a lot less.
Great fresh Florida seafood!

Hole in the wall - Great food. The first time I saw this place I thought, "what a dump." It was out of the way little place, but the parking lot was always packed. I go there all the time. Portions are very generous. Food is great. Not a very large dining hall.
Amazing!. This place is unbelievable! The portions were generous, the prices were cheap, and everything is made fresh to order -- and it had better be, since they have their very own packing house. As a Florida native who lives out of state (although hopefully not for much longer), I felt back at home once I ate the fried gator nuggets.
A word of caution: You will have to wait when you arrive. It's so popular with the locals that it's not uncommon to be standing for 20 minutes or longer.
Good food. Had the shrimp sandwich. Bread is toasted with butter, shrimp is fresh & battered lightly topped with lettuce & tomato. Add your own condiments. Served with French fries (ok tasting), coleslaw (very good), and pickle spear. Filling, good priced. Place is busy with not a lot of tables but staff hustles to keep up.
Good. Locals eat here because it is good...and it is
This is consistently the best fried grouper sandwich I have ever eaten. Period.
My husband and I went here on a Friday night. We did have a bit of a wait, but it was totally worth it!! Even though they were packed there was still more than enough parking and they had several places to sit out front while waiting. Once sat, our service was above fantastic! We couldn't decide on which chowder to try. Upon suggestion from our server we tried the 'half and half', a bit of both mixed, I highly suggest a big bowl of this!!. It was SO good!! The calamari was fried just right and had a nice thin breading. We also got the Skip one Platter blackened style..all of the food was cooked Perfectly! You Must try the scallops and the half-n-half chowder!!! Such great seafood choices and the price was not bad at all for the freshness!! We will be back for sure!
Love the fresh seafood! First time back in a long time and seafood was as fresh and served hot and exactly as ordered- just as I remembered. Recommend you stop in and try this great seafood place on 41!
Visited Skip one recently, (July 2023) had a great experience. Rebecca was my hostess, she was so nice, really engaged with her customers and really made for a good experience. It was Thursday, they had all you can eat crab legs for about 55 bucks. Host said the snow crab legs are from Alaska. They are big, not the small ones you see at grocery stores, and made to order. If you get the crab legs you are able to get the fried shrimp too since the shrimp is less expensive. The shrimp they said were from the gulf caught on their own fleet of boats- that’s cool I suppose. Fried Shrimp were also great, light beer batter type coating.
I’d visit again, good stuff.

Birthday dinner for a friend. There were 10 of us, and we got a table right away. Food was delectable! The scallops were perfectly cooked. Never had grouper before and it was very good, not fishy tasting at all. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Prices were very reasonable considering everything was fresh.
When you walk in, you walk by the fish market part, so you do smell fish, but when you got to the dining room, you didn't smell it anymore.
Great little seafood + restaurant & seafood market. Fresh food & awesome choices. I had frog legs & husband had catfish. They have appetizers, salads, sandwiches, lunch combos & full meals. They have awesome happy hour(s) 3 -5 with $2 beers & great discounted appetizers too. Love this place & try to visit every time we are over here.
Bahamian conch chowder and tuna melt were so good. I hadn’t been in a while and it did not disappoint.
I didn't know what to expect from the outside but I am so glad I went in. Some of the best service and food I've eaten! 5+ stars to everyone working here! Friendly, fast, delicious.. can't beat this place!
Took our grandson here for fried gator platter ($23) My wife and I got the flounder fish sandwich on sourdough bread ($14.99) Mine was grilled and my wife’s was fried. All of the entrees were very good, tasted fresh and cooked perfectly. Not a fancy place, but they do deliver on quality & service 😎. The “to go drinks” we huge! Nice touch on a hot Florida day.
Very friendly staff, very reasonable prices, across from a Jaguar dealer on Highway 41.
The fried Gator tail was very tender and good tasting. We ordered the Tuna Melt which was very good, the Conch chowder was good and I ordered the Combo One platter with grilled Salmon and Grilled Flounder. It was served pan fried but the Flounder was excellent, Salmon was a little over cooked. The Conch Chowder and cold slaw were the two sides.
This was our first time eating here. It’s a small place but we didn’t have to wait long for a table, my husband had all you could eat crab legs and he said they were delicious. I myself do not eat seafood so my choices were limited, I had the cheeseburger. Over all if we’re ever back in the area we will eat here again.
We went to Skip One and it was fantastic. The staff was super friendly and attentive. Our group had the all you can eat crab legs, blackened grouper and blackened scallops. Large variety of seafood options.will definitely be back.
Great food! Had the grouper platter extra crunchy and it was fantastic! Also tried the clam strips and they were perfect! Not to small and not to large. Will come again!
We had a mix of things including the grouper sandwich, crunchy grouper, coconut shrimp and sides. This is a great old Florida local spot with friendly service and fresh seafood. Don't expect any frills, you're there for the fresh fish. They also have a little market there so you can buy fish as well. They know how to cook shrimp perfectly, honestly one of the best coconut shrimp dishes we've ever had.
Wasn't expecting much when we stopped here for a quick bite! It was absolutely amazing. The shrimp is a must (spicy and boiled). We got the conch fritters, too, worth it! Must stop when going to or through FMB area.
