Review Mai-kai Restaurant - Fort Lauderdale

Staff was super friendly and helpful. Drink menu was huge with an amazing mixture of cocktails. Before dinner arrived the wife and I got up and walked through the outdoor path with lush plants and waterfalls. Food was good and arrived just before the show started. Show was awesome, enjoyed the trip through many different cultures. Information on each culture represented by the dance was informative and entertaining. Definitely worth the visit if you are any where near by!

The place was great. Not the cheapest but also not the most priciest out there but don't come here expecting budget prices. There is only valet parking ($3 self park option). The show is included in the bill (about $30)and to me was well put together and is about 45 minutes long. Our server was very friendly and the food was awesome. Get your order in before the show starts or it will be very hard for the server to hear with all the banging drums and music. Drinks are reasonably priced and there is big selection of drinks, if your a beer person there's only a couple beers available however. Overall, it was a great experience worthy of a visit at least once.

The food is amazing, we got the Peking Duck. Highly recommend. The drinks are superb. The grounds are beautiful if you come you must take in the show and walk the grounds. They roast the duck in h the ovens which are visible to the guests. Make sure you have reservations it's a busy pace. I saw several people get turned away for not having a reservation. The staff is nice and helpful but I recommend reading they menu before you get there as they have a large drink menu.

It is worth the visit. The service is great, staff is amazing. The show is nice and beautiful. The food is really good, I'd say bit too pricey but it's an expirience. My missing star goes to the scheduled dinner, for the money spent sometimes you want to feel more owner of your time. Eat calmly drink (many delicious tropical choices) and just enjoy. But since there's a show on schedule yes... you are on a time line. If you've never been , take the chance.

Wonderful place! Had a great time! The service was quick, very attentive, and we were served by multiple servers in nice clothing. Food was delicious! Big portions, everyone took food home, and the drinks are perfection as well! The show was was great, with a variety in dances and music that is all Hawaiian and Polynesian. They even used fire! The price of the show is only $15 and then you pay for whatever food and drinks you order. Worth it!!

We went for a birthday. As reviews state, it's really dark inside but that being said, we enjoyed the small garden as we waited for our appetizers to come out and the dinner itself was really nice. Good portions and the flavor was more like your typical Chinese food, I've been to Hawaii and don't think your getting that type of food here but it's tasty. The service was slow but once the appetizers came out , everything followed. The show started ontime at 8pm. We reserved at 630 which gave us time to see the garden, eat and drink wine at a good pace. The show was impressive. Definitely catch the show not just the dinner. They have an online offer for $39 per person with a limited menu which is absolutely your best bet. Not many people know that. Otherwise get ready to definitely spend a lot and I mean a lot of money. Definitely a cool place to impress a fun date. Make sure to get seated nearby the stage.

A very special place. Great food, amazingly fun cocktail menu, and the dinner show is not to be missed. Be sure to put this restaurant on your "must do" list!! The happy hour prices for drinks and appetizers are a great value. My sister enjoyed a steak prepared in their unique Chinese oven, and said that it was the best she had ever enjoyed.

What a stunning place. Feel like your in Hawaii without being in Hawaii. Food was good, lots of options. Check out happy hour times. Show up early for 50% off drinks and food, before you take your seats for the dinner and show. Show was great. Great vibes, had the goosebumps a few times it was so good.

I visited for the first time and took my wife and daughter for their first time on my wife's birthday. We had an incredible time! We we're expecting a great show, received one, but also got an interesting history lesson. They did a pheonemenal job giving us an interactive and exciting lesson on their culture. The food was good but the ambience was much better. A must do I'd say...

Visited Nov, 2016. The best Tiki Bar I've been to. The decor is over the top, but in a good way. The food was also very good, but it was more expensive than I expected. Prepare to pay nice steakhouse prices unless you go for one of the Chinese entries. The restaurant has valet parking (it seemed mandatory) and a great floor show with an entry fee , although there is the option of a quieter room with no surcharge. On the Saturday night we were there they had two show times for seating and we didn't leave until after 11, so you may want to call to see how late they are actually open. And if you're looking for random Polynesian gifts they have a large gift shop. Overall, a very nice evening

Atmosphere/Theme-10/10 Cleanliness of restaurant-8/10 Customer Service- 6/10 Taste/Quality of food 10/10 Value for Price 7/10 The taste of the food and the decor/theme of this restaurant is what makes it stand out. We ordered the Korean bbq tacos for an appetizer and the crispy orange beef and honey chicken for our entrees, everything tasted very authentic and had exceptional flavor, especially for those of you who like sweet food. The Polynesian theme is very consistent and stunning throughout the restaurant, they have a trail that you can walk and take some great pictures that includes waterfalls and island statues. While I think this restaurant is great for special occasions it was very busy the day we went and this made it very difficult to hear each other talk. It’s also very dark inside which makes it pretty difficult to read the menu. All of the employees were extremely nice, but unfortunately with it being so busy we had to wait 20 minutes over our reservation time to be seated and waited 10 minutes to get a food menu. I’m probably more critical of this restaurant because of how much it costs to eat there and I think for the price customers shouldn’t be waiting so much.

Very dark maybe to hide wear and tear. Above our heads was a black plastic trash bag maybe to hide a roof leak. When the fire dancers did their thing I was seriously looking for fire exits Or emergency exits they were not visible . Tables and chairs are so close together hard to get in and out in an emergency. Has the Fire Marshall inspected this place? Had a reservation very early 5:00 we were sent to the bar area maybe to buy an expensive drink in there even though our table was ready. The gardens had standing green water, mosquitos and no fish aquarium which was mentioned by the MC . Should not have mentioned aquarium if it was not in working order because the children were now disappointed. The ladies room door locks bent and broken had to hold the door from swinging open. Come on you have have an attendant in there but can’t replace broken door locks? The food was good but so dark you can’t see what your even eating. Maybe it’s better that way. This place would be so great with some investment dollars and fix ups. The performers were great. Our waitress was also great service was excellent. I Was there as a child in the 60s, again as a teenager in the 70s, brought my kids there in the 90s and this trip with our Grandson. Once every 25 or 30 years was good enough. Please make it better.

Our waiter, Omar, was fantastic and very attentive. The show was entertaining and the food was great. I highly recommend trying the teriyaki beef plate... it was really good! 😄

It’s was a great experience, very much like the show I experienced in Hawaii at the Polynesian Cultural Center but of course on the smaller scale. The show was well worth the money. The food was good but a little on the pricey side. During the wedding dance my marriage and anniversary was announced so we felt extra special.

The best Sea Bass I have ever had, the Fish Tacos needed a lot of help, the best California Rolls I have had to date! Good food, good show, the Waitress was spot on, the seats were too small, The table was also too small and the Greeter was smug but efficient! I enjoyed it but my Wife said it was just OK!

The show is amazing, very entertaining; the service and organization is pretty good, the only that can be improved is the food, it can be better, it's not bad but not what we were expecting. We will come back and yes I recommend it.

The staff was wonderful. The show was amazing. The food, was delicious and large portions. The drink menu has so much variety. We had the mystery, and it was perfect.

When my family and I walked into the restaurant a older man approach us and asked if we have a reservation. We told the man a name and the host could not find it and we told him well it might be under another name since we had someone else make the reservation, the person that made it is parking the car. The older man told us to go sit at the bar till we find out. Which was kinda rude to us when no one was behind us. Anyways the other family member came in and told the name then we went on our Mary way. The server, the food and the show was great. The only issue was it was hot inside, we asked if they can turn the a/c up and the server said he will ask. It never got cold inside, the amount of money people pay for the food and drinks we should have air or the place needs to be updated to have air and not die from a heat stroke while eating and watching the show.

Little disappointed. When we came there was no table ready even though they called and I confirmed our reservation. So dark couldn’t read the menu. Waited hour for our food. Show was ok such as garden area. Also to warm inside.

Great show! Dinner was Excellent and the staff was A1 except for one young lady at the bar. She was very rude and acted as if we were bothering her. But she was not enough to take away from the overall experience.

The show was very entertaining. Very expensive food and drinks. I do love their appetizers and dessert. The coconut flan 🍮 is the best!

We loved the show, it is the best part of the whole evening. A few tips. 1. Please tell your severs not to discuss their inconvenience of having people with vouchers out loud. We were able to clearly hear two servers discussing how they would loose seats to us because we had vouchers. They made us feel so uncomfortable. Yes we had vouchers that we decided to purchase, we did not get them for free. We started the evening so didsapointed, thank God the food was delicious and the show was amazing. Not sure if I would recommend this to people with “vouchers”. 2. Not everyone has cellphones, we observed a party very upset because they did not have a cellphone to get a text to let them know that their table is ready. 3. This is a nice show with excellent food, these kind of things shouldn’t be happening.

Awesome show and food was good. It’s a bit too dark though. You can’t read the menu. The outside gardens were lovely.
