Liberty Bagel Cafe

I used to come here on a weekly basis. I ordered 2 bagels and curly fries and I was charged 10$ more than I was supposed to be, I got regular fries and I didn’t get one of my bagels. This store sells gift certificates and then does not honor them because nobody initialed the back of it. Owner said it cannot be accepted because he does not know how I got it… implying I printed it from home or hopped behind the counter and took a stack of them. He said you must have gotten this a long time ago… Should not matter when there is no expiration date on the certificate. This spot has been going downhill since the ownership change. I recommended Amboy Bagel or Manhattan. Liberty bagel does not appreciate your business.

The place is delicious. Just don’t expect to pay what’s displayed. Prices will say $4.25 and you will be charged $7; apparently prices aren’t updated. Based on all the other reviews looks like they haven’t been updated for months. Sounds like the owner just makes the prices up while he’s ringing you up. Pricing feels deceiving, pretty sure that’s not legal. If weights and measures can fine a retail store for such a thing it should be able to charge a business.

Before the new owners took over the place was always packed the food was always good and they served you with a smile. Now that the place has been bought by new owners the food is not that good the service is not that good and the place is not that clean. Last time I got food from there my order was wrong and my bagel was burnt. When I lived in Jersey me and my sister will go there all the time and get bagels when I moved and came up to visit that was my first stop to get my everything bagel and when I left to come back home I would stop there and get me my everything bagel with ham and cheese and take it with me on the train not anymore I have not been there since I believe about 2 years and I would not go again.

Enjoyed coming years ago but over the past year quality and customer service has plummeted. Today I made the mistake of assuming the prices on their displayed menu were accurate. Apparently this is not the case, and found out after ordering as they do not have an updated register. One of the men cooking was extremely unprofessional when asked why the total was so high for 2 platters and drinks. Instead of a simple answer he felt the need to say prices change every week and dough prices are high…We were annoyed but waited to eat the food we severely overpaid for. This guy came over with our food and felt the need to further explain. He was immediately defensive, saying his paper sign allows him to charge whatever he desires, that he has no issue with any other customers and calling us rude. Obviously things escalated and we left. Not how you run a business at all, why would you offend paying customers?? not surprised quality and customer base has gone down. Will not return and advise you go to literally any other breakfast/bagel places, I.E Manhattan Bagel, or Bagel Pantry. You’ll get better customer service, bigger portions and accurate pricing.

Been coming here for years and it’s just not the same. Customer service fluctuates, I am charge different prices each time I go there for the same exact items, and what annoys me the most is they close whenever they feel like it. Twice I been there and they closed before 1pm. Todays Saturday and it clearly says 5pm. Smh I hope they get it together soon.
