Today, I placed my first order with Ista through DoorDash. DD has about a 12% markup, plus delivery charge, service charge, and driver tip.
If you can pick-up in person, Ista's webpage gives you the correct prices. The prices are reasonable.
First was $7 Palak Chat, an appetizer. It came in a pint sized container, and is medium and large spinach leaves, rolled in chick pea flour, then flash fried. It's not super oily, and it's not super wilty. Even from delivery, it was still crisp. It has just a little bit of spice to it, and a little bit of salt in it. This is a new favorite. The portion size is good for 2 people.
Next was $2.00 Naan. If you don't know what naan is, think of a fresh, puffy tortilla. It's less dense than a pita, and less fatty than a flour tortilla. It's about 8" in diameter, cut in half, wrapped in foil. You tear off pieces and dip it into sauces they provide (mint chutney, bbq sauce, and some creamy sauce that might have been ranch?) I skipped that and used it to pick up some of my entree.
Last was a $13 Saag Paneer. Saag means greens. Sometimes it's just spinach (aka Palak) and sometimes it's mustard greens, or other stuff. The greens are a puree, thick like gravy, with a buttery flavor (because it contains butter). Paneer means cheese, but it's not like the blocks of dyed cheddar. This is fresh, and has texture and flavor more like ricotta. It's dry, and cut into small, bite-sized cubes. For my order, I got a quart of this, plus styrofoam sandwich container of jasmine rice. The flavor was excellent, and everything I hoped for. The amount of paneer was right on the edge. Sometimes, I like extra paneer. I didn't think of that, and I'm not sad, but I might ask for extra next time. The portion size is good for three servings. I'm a big, gluttonous guy, and I put a third of it in the fridge.
This meal was awesome. It's exactly what I've been missing. I am fat and happy. I think I need to take my family for dine-in, but I always forget they exist unless I'm driving by for some other purpose. Online ordering helps remind me.
I have hosted a party at my home for 90 people. I was little nervous because the guest list were more than 90. I spoke to the restaurant owner "Sunny" and mentioned him the same that the guest list was more than 90 people and I needed a quality service and good food so that everyone are impressed. He said me to not worry and asked me to focus on other arrangements apart from food and quality service. Finally on the party day Sunny and his crew showed up at my home at least 3-4 hrs before with live kabab, different varieties of food and their catering people. I was impressed the boys worked during the party. There was no food left by the end of party. All my friends started appreciating the taste of live kabab, mutton curry, samosa chat etc.. Even the kids eat food without complaining on the food, especially the live kababs.
Do not miss their live kabab, samosa chat as an appetizer. For me, this was the best in whole of Dallas Metroplex. I will rate this restaurant as 5 out of 5. I have been so long in Dallas and never Sunny has disappointed me.
So glad we found this place tonight. It was absolutely delicious! Everything we ordered was very flavorful. The staff there were all very nice and gave great service. We now have a favorite place to go for Indian food.
Was in the area and wanted Indian, so dropped in. We were not disappointed. Food was very good, a lot of variety, and good portion sizes. Prices were comparable to other places we've been. Staff was attentive and friendly. If in the area again, we would eat there again.
Fantastic meal from the very first bite til the last. Started with Chicken Samosas and Aloo Bonda. Both were easily the best I've had. The Lamb Kadai and Chicken Vindaloo were also spectacular. Highly recommended.
The food was amazing and service fantastic. It is the best Indian food I've found in North Texas.

Decent lunch buffet spread, noodles were really good, loved their lahori fish and tandoori chicken, well priced, recommend this for lunch buffet
At my reluctance, I went with my wife to Ista. It had been some time since we were there last, but I never did enjoy the food. Since it was Sunday, it was a buffet. Apparently, under new ownership the buffet was wonderful. Food was well seasoned, fresh and very tasty. The lamb kabob was not expected, but well appreciated. Would recommend giving them a try again, we will be back.
