The staff is very friendly. They were so busy that before they were able to seat us, we were invited to sit at the bar while they cleaned off a booth.
So we are currently living in Asheville NC which is quiet the area for food. First of all I've paid more for less vegan food. I've paid more for lesser quality vegan food. 12.50 for a jumbo size vegan burger at The Cafe. The patty had great flavor and the texture was spot on. A nice crispy exterior without drying the middle. Everything tasted so fresh. The burger was served with a curry sauce on the side which I consumed every drop of. All the veggies on the burger were fresh. I never ever eat raw tomatoes and I did on this because it looked and tasted so delicious. The sweet potato fries were on point. The serving that I received was so large that I really felt like I had a French fry fix when I left. You could tell that they were fresh In house. Again nice crispy exterior with a moist middle. Nothing tasted oily and I did not feel super bloated after stuffing myself with all that goodness. The food here is whole food and not junk food. I've been to plenty of vegan friendly places where they just try to make meals out of soy fillers! My drink was filled when it was getting low and our server was very friendly. She was always smiling and made us feel at home
Last but not least the fries were so good that when my wife heated them up the next day we wanted to go back for more. Decided to go to another joint because we are on vacation but we definitely recommend. 👍✌️
The service fantastic, but the food is delicious and healthy, the chocolate vegan pudding my favorite desert. I recommend this place 💯 %
Happy we choose this place for lunch on our trip . Was bit pricey compared to Miami but good food . Got Udon noodle soup and another vegetarian dish . Enjoyed the food and vibes were good of the place
Sweet little place with nice ambience. The server was overwhelmed with work but managed to get our order in a somewhat reasonable time. The food was superb. Soup was outstanding. Recommend this place highly particularly for vegetarians or vegans as they don't do beef chicken or pork
Lovely place! Lovely people! A good place for the vegetarians to fill up their tummies. The food was really good. I liked the Falafel. Do try!
Although not purely vegan, the place has a good number of vegetarian and vegan options. The food - not as great as Sugar Apple or Date & Thyme - was good.
Food:
We went for Spinach Gyoza dumplings (served with soy-ginger sauce) and Grilled Marinated Tofu Chimichurri (with lemon garlic kale and sweet potato fries (substituted against mashed potatoes)). Spinach Gyoza dumplings were okay. The dumplings were a little short of filling and the flavors didn't come together that well. It was also a tad bit more oily as we could see it on the surface. Boiled would have been better instead of fried, I guess. Tofu Chimichurri, on the other hand, was great. The kale and the sweet potato fries were great as well. A little more grill on tofu to make it drier would have been great. But overall, I loved the dish. For drinks, we went for their Homemade Iced Chai with Soy Milk and Cafe Housemade Kombucha on tap. Iced Chai was great. The Housemade Kombucha served in a mason jar, was really great. For desserts, we went for their Vegan Chocolate Pudding (served with vanilla bean-coconut cream on top) and Vegan Keylime Cheesecake (as they say the only vegan cheesecake in Key West). We loved the chocolate pudding part of the Vegan Chocolate Pudding. Vanilla bean-coconut cream had more ice flakes into it than cream. However, the chocolate pudding was good at the bottom. Vegan Keylime Cheesecake was good and had a perfect sour-sweet balance.
Ambiance:
It has a little loud interior - with too many things on the walls. There are t-shirts, artifacts, quotes and much more. It is probably one of the rare restaurants that celebrate vegetarianism out loud!! Various cool messages are there on the printed t-shirts, plaques, and other items. There are a few paintings as well. Overall, very colorful. It's a place where you would love to have breakfast/brunch on a bright sunny day.
Service and Staff:
The service was good and quick. The lady attending us was quite friendly. No issues there. At the time of billing, they put a little postcard along with the bill with greetings, which you can take along with you as a memory. It was an innovative and a very nice gesture.
Overall, while the food was good, except for the Spinach Gyoza and the cream (or I may say ice flakes) part of Vegan Chocolate Pudding, but it is definitely worth a try.
Didn't realize it was a vegetarian leaning place. Waitress very friendly and made recommendation and answered questions. I had the Chicken and Waffles, fried cauliflower, great waffle, syrup and blueberries. The "chicken" was breaded fried cauliflower, was amazing! My spouse had the "cheesesteak" that was tofu, mushroom, cheese, and onion. Excellent as well. Would definitely eat here again.
As a visiting vegetarian, I was excited to try a restaurant away from home that served vegetarian food. It was delicious food, and really good value. The service was slow, they seemed to be under staffed or just not attentive enough. Would definitely recommend it to anyone- vegetarian or not.
Tasty vegetarian. I had the falafel and it was quite good. Not far off Duval St. Also serves a little local seafood. My girlfriend got a veggie burger, and she liked her's, too.
Excellent Vegan Cafe!!. Wonderful healthy Vegan food... Really doesn't get any better than this! Love this place! Wish we had one at home!
Love, love, love The Cafe --- never disappoints
Good food, especially sweet potato fries! But portions are very large and hard to finish.
Put simply, this is one of the best restaurants I’ve ever been too. Food was so delicious. Very large/decent servings to leave you satisfied. And the staff were kind and always happy to help.
A must stop if you’re vegan too! Both meals shared are vegan. But all of if not most of what they serve can be make vegan as well. But if you’re not vegan, they still have great meat options too. A place to stop and eat for everyone. Wish I could have stayed in Key West longer just to go back!!
The restaurant was highly recommended by a staff at a nearby hotel. I wasn't sure what to expect but decided to try the noodle bowl with salmon. My husband had the veggie meatball with fettuccine, and we split the sweet potato fries. I was pleasantly surprised at the flavor of everything. Delicious! I told my husband that if we were in KW for a bit longer, I would try just about everything they had. Highly recommended.
Loved it! Great little cafe with delicious food and excellent service. Food was clean and scrumptious. I really enjoyed everything about this place and this meal. Off the beaten path by a block and well worth a look. I am not vegan but there are many healthy options here.
The Cafe is a wonderful low key place to get really amazing food. I had their mushroom and falafel pita (special) and my wife had their avocado and quinoa salad with grilled shrimp. It becomes obvious that culinary excellence is what this restaurant aims for. A small spot that leaves a big impression.
I had the pleasure of visiting The Cafe and I must say it was an extraordinary culinary experience for any plant-based food enthusiast. From the moment I stepped in, I was immediately drawn in by the inviting ambiance of the restaurant, complemented by the captivating artwork gracing the walls. I saw their delectable vegan dishes online and couldn't wait to sample their offerings.
The array of dishes I tried was nothing short of outstanding. The Truffled French Fries were perfectly crisp, and the addition of delectable vegan cheese on top took them to a whole new level of satisfaction. The Spinach Gyoza Dumplings were a delightful combination of flavors, and the Un-Wing Dings with tahini sauce stole the show as my favorite appetizer – absolutely exceptional!
However, the true highlight of the meal was the Pepper "Steak" & Swiss sandwich. Made with seitan, shitake & portobello mushrooms, peppers, onions, and vegan cheese, it evoked fond memories of a Philly Cheesesteak sandwich, but I dare say it surpassed my recollection of the traditional version. The flavors were incredibly rich, and the combination of ingredients was simply divine.
On this sweltering day, the Dad's Classic Red sangria provided the perfect refreshment, and I found it to be a delightful complement to the dishes.
Yet, what truly set The Cafe apart was the exceptional service provided by Lucas, our waiter. Despite the restaurant not being bustling with activity, there was still a considerable number of patrons dining on a busy Saturday afternoon, and Lucas managed everything with remarkable grace and efficiency. He managed all of the tables, including the bar patrons, and yet his attention to detail, extensive knowledge of the menu, and genuine warmth made us feel like we were the only guests in the restaurant.
Lucas not only took our orders but also went the extra mile to provide suggestions, answer questions about the dishes, and engage in a friendly chat about his time in Key West and south Florida. His dedication to ensuring each guest received quality service was remarkable.
Overall, The Cafe offers an unforgettable culinary experience that is sure to impress even the most discerning vegan foodies. The delicious food, especially the Pepper "Steak" & Swiss, combined with Lucas's exceptional service, made my visit truly memorable. I wholeheartedly recommend The Cafe to anyone in Key West, especially those who lead a plant-based lifestyle. It will undoubtedly become a must-visit spot every time you return to Key West.
Not just vegan...they have salmon and shrimp options, also. Our appetizer of Cafe Spring Rolls were a bit over-cooked, yet we still enjoyed them. My Curried Butternut Squash was delish, and the Sautéed Spinach that accompanied it had the BEST flavor EVER!! My husband totally enjoyed his Grande Burrito 🌯 😋 We both had Coconut Cake to end it♡ We will definitely come back to try out some of the other selections!!
Hidden gem in Key West. Cute spot tucked away on a side street. Hands down one of the best salads I’ve ever had. The quinoa salad one day with grilled shrimp. The next day with grilled salmon. Breakfast choices do not disappoint either. Large portions, great service. Will definitely visit again when we go back to Key West!
Fantastic place… it was our first time in Key West and decided to try this place for breakfast/lunch and the food was exceptional. Ordered the breakfast wrap and breakfast burrito with pico de gallo and it was phenomenal. Service was excellent and art was beautiful. will definitely visit this cafe again when we come back to Key West. Definitely recommend this restaurant you won’t be disappointed. They also have Vegan options.
Wish we had found this place earlier on our trip! Really quality and delicious food and drinks. Have brunch, lunch, and dinner options. Branden was wonderful and very pleasant. Loved this place - 100% coming back tomorrow. Don’t skip out on this.
Actually my first time ever at a veg restaurant. Fav was the tomato cream soup, if you’re a fan of tomatoes you would LOVE it. The portions are so large I could not finish at all. Squash and salad, both amazing.
Service was a bit slow but there was just one guy manning the whole front of the restaurant and given the circumstances he was doing a good job, very friendly as well. We wanted to try the lime cheesecake but were too full to do so.
Would visit again.
