Review Wah Nam Restaurant - Flint

We absolutely love this place! I have been going here regularly since high school and my kids are now grown and grew up coming here all the time. The food is excellent the staff is friendly and it is our absolute favorite!

Working in the area, and decided to try this place. The food is not good like many others have reviewed. I choked down what I could stand only because I paid almost 12 dollars for a lunch. Whoever was taking orders and cooking was friendly. I decided to order sweet and sour chicken, figured it was a safe thing to order, but it wasn't good at all. Egg roll was very pungent, and only was able to take 2 bites of it. I personally won't return.

I was an hour away from home and I just wanted a nice place to relax and have a meal before driving. I went at 8pm and the place was dead silent. They still served me and let me dine in and have a warm cup of tea and some pho. Incredibly friendly and accommodating.

How can I describe one of the worst Asian restaurants I've ever been to? There was no one there but me, I should have turned and walked away. It advertised itself as a pho shop. It was the worst pho I've ever had. Also the worst spring rolls I've ever seen, simply inedible. No bad superlative can describe it. See photos and understand. On the positive side, the tea was good and the atmosphere inside was decent.

I remember growing up with this place and having fantastic Chinese food however it is not what it used to be. Service was friendly and attentive but the food would not attract me to this place anymore. My family and I ordered the dinner for four which was a lot of food. I could hear the microwave beeping multiple times from the kitchen as well as phone calls and notifications from personal phones. Fresh and healthy wouldn't be words to describe this place. It's frozen food reheated and doused with loads of salty gravy. I implore the owners and chefs of this once flourishing restaurant to reinvent themselves with authentic Chinese food and ditch the microwave. Use fresh ingredients and show the passion for amazing food once again.

Got take out on 10/29/21, and it was by far the worst Asian food I have ever eaten. I really wanted to give them a try, but I think the grease they fry the egg rolls in is years old. They were inedible. The fried rice wasn't much better. It had a strange taste I could not identify. I know that Asian food tastes are subjective, but I know what old, nasty grease tastes like!

Fast and friendly service with all the typical Chinese-food dishes. There is plenty of seating inside and they offer take out as well. They are open on most federal holidays when other restaurants are closed, which is nice.

Excellent mom and pop Chinese. The food is above expectations. I drive from across town to eat there.

Best Chinese Restaurant in Flint. We have been going here for years! Their sweet and sour chicken, egg rolls and chicken lomein are delicious. They do not use MSG and use fresh veggies! We get take out and it is good every time! For a real treat pick up a package of almond cookies for dessert as well. Told a co-worker about Wah Nam's and now she loves it as well. In my opinion, best in Flint!

Pepper steak. My family gets takeout weekly. The peppersteak has lots of real steak and fresh green peppers with an amazing garlic bean gravy (sauce). The egg rolls are wonderful and my husband really likes the curry chicken.

Great Food!. The restaurant could use some updates, but the food is delicious!

-----21 Jun, 2011-----

General Tso's Chicken. It was delicious! For $6.75, I got so much food that I had enough leftovers for another meal the next day! The chicken was tender, the sauce had just the right kick, and the pork fried rice was perfect! It also included an egg roll, which was awesome, and a cup of soup, which was also, great!

No Vietnamese in Flint. There are no Vietnamese restaurants in Flint, including this one. I've been here twice, forgetting the second time that they are only a Chinese menu. Never eaten here, tho.
