Review Taboon Middle Eastern Cuisine - Flint

Update: one grape leaf was full of something so hard you cant break it without chipping a tooth. It feels like bone I can't even cut it with a knife. WTH!!! We've been getting Taboon for 29 years, this is a first. The sandwichs were the only thing in our order worth ordering. Walked in, ignored. Grabbed a menu told the host I was ordering to go. Stood at the counter, the gal talked to coworkers about who was whos son, took a door dash order, then apologized that she should have taken my order. Still she takes her time coming ovwr to me. I order, she needs me to repeat is 3 times. The cook gives her my food she puts my grape leaves in someone elses order and fries ina. Clear container in my order (I didn't order fries) thenn when I get home I find that for $14 we got 4 fried kibee. $3.50 each! Smh this level of service is horrible. And their bread use to be airy and really good now its flat like thick pancakes. The hummus use to be smooth and flavorful its now thick and almost grainy its not blended well. Idk what changed with the move, maybe an owner shift but it's not a good change. :( Taboon use to be my fav.

Not sure what changes have been made but I was disappointed today with the quality of the food I received. Normally everything is excellent. Zero issues prior to today. Pictured is the chicken saute' I ordered. Sadly it does not even look appetizing. There is 1 piece of chicken missing, that I tasted. It was awful. I was over charged for my takeout order and didn't recieve what I asked for also.

Terrible Service... I sat here for 15 minutes and didn't even get water... And it was dead. more people in the back than up front. You can tell Badawest and Kabob City went out of business... We decided to get grape leave to go... THE WORST grave leaves ever. they were burnt and caramelized. Tata would slap this cook. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY HERE. Go to the Grand Blanc location; hopefully, it hasn't changed like this place.

We just finished eating here and everything was amazing!! We had great service and the food was delicious!! We have 2 bags of leftovers and can't wait to eat again later. Great amount of food for the price. I was originally worried about going after reading some of the reviews but we had a wonderful experience! Thank you, Taboon Flint!!

I have gone to this location prior to the move and I liked them. However.. I recently visited and ordered a few items. Was not impressed with their hummus and the raw kibi was horrid! I’ve had raw kibi and made raw kibi hundreds of times and this meat was NOT properly made. There was not enough wheat in it. On top of this — the bread we were served had hair in it. Two pieces that I saw had hair visibly in the bread. I will not go back due to improper preparation of food.

If I could put a ZERO I would! I spent $43, for 2 Togo lunches.(I was charged for dinners).I still have my reciept. They just DUMPED the food, in the foam containers. It Looked disgusting!!! No Dressing for my salad. When this place was at Linden and Miller it was AMAZING FOOD AND SPOT ON EVERYTHING!!! I'm very disappointed and Won't Ever go Back!!! P.S. The Lentil Soup was DELICIOUS! Although, they forgot my requested lemons, it was ok. Because the soup was DELICIOUS without the Lemons.

Taboon used to be really good when it was by Taco Bell. I moved away for some years, and now I'm back, and was really disappointed. I got a shawarma type plate, but the chicken was not the usual grilled and sliced pieces, but more small, gristly little shredded pieces. My dining companion and I both got rice as the side, and there were crunchy, undercooked rice grains throughout both of our plates, rendering them inedible. This was the first time I went out to eat since the start of the pandemic, so extra disappointing. I hope they come back to what they used to be at the new Pizza Hut location.

Good, but prices a little high. I've been to Taboon at least a dozen times and am usually am very pleased. Kafta is great as well as many other things.
Last time we ordered a side order of bread we got 12 pieces in a bag that we all pretty much one solid mass, i guess that's what you get with carry out.

Fatoosh salad is great and always fresh, baba and hommous are fantastic.
Shish Kafta sandwich with hommous and grilled green peppers is my go to quick meal- fantastic.

The only thing that has ever warranted a negative review was when i got a carry out, and it was the wrong order. I was in my truck munching a piece of bread before i drove home. They ran out and got the order and told me it was the wrong one. They then put it back on the counter for the correct person to pick it up, in my opinion, once the food leaves the store it should be remade. One other thing, i've ordered falafal and it was still frozen on the inside..
Overall i'd give this place a solid C+/B-

It used to be great. This place has gone down hill fast... it's sad.

LOST OUR CREDIT CARD- Diners- BEWARE!. I have been to Taboon's (the Flint location, near the mall) a total of five times...
Out of the five times I have gone, twice I waited for nearly an hour and was not seated. A couple of years later, I went again- (you know, third time is the charm) was seated and waited 30 minutes before even getting a drink order, after which I left.
About a month ago- again, I re-attempted (after being convinced by friends who happen to enjoy this restaurant) and was pleasantly surprised to have decent service and to actually have been seated in a fairly prompt manner. I thought perhaps... management had improved.
A couple of evenings ago, some friends, my husband and me went back. We were seated, and served in an excellent and prompt fashion- all was well.
However, when my husband paid for dinner- we waited half an hour and did not get his credit card back. Tired of waiting, my husband asked our server where his card was so that we could leave, the waitress gave a flurry of excuses and said they could not locate the card and were trying to look for it.
We waited for another 20 minutes before my husband became very flustered and asked to speak with the manager.
The response from the ladies at the cash register was that she was "Not there." So, not only did the wait-staff manage to lose my husband's credit card, there was no management or supervision available to speak with.
When I asked for the manager's phone number, they gave me Taboon's number and told me to call the manager in the morning. The wait staff simply continued to blame the young lady running the cash register and said that she was not properly trained and was poor at her job. This, in my opinion was a horrible excuse- how poorly managed can a restaurant be?!
After having sat in wait for over an hour over the whole mess, we left and had my husband's card deactivated since there was obviously no other resolution to be offered.
When my husband called the manager, she told him she had not been informed of the situation- but found his card lying on the counter when she got in- and every time she attempted to run the card it said it was denied.
How IDIOTIC can you be?!
Which begs the question, if they couldn't find the card while we were there- where was it? Did someone attempt to steal it? How miraculous it was that it magically reappeared when the manager shows up the next morning...
I will NEVER return to this restaurant. If you want fantastic middle-eastern food in Flint, where they WON'T lose your credit card and you actually WILL get seated with fantastic service DO NOT go to Taboons!!! What a NIGHTMARE!

My husband and I frequently visit Taboon's and have done so for two years. Their service is about 50/50 but their food is fantastic. The atmosphere alone is so inviting, with their beautiful visable brick oven, and the amazing aroma that encircles the restaurant, you're sure to be pleased! My husband and I enjoy their Fatoosh and Tabouli salads, their hummous with lamb, and sauteed lamb meal with rice. We look forward to many more years of loving Taboon's!

Lentil soup. This was the best and only example of lentil soup Ive ever had. It has a strong cumin flavor and its complemented very well by a light lemon taste. One my favorite parts of the visit.

Brick oven pita!!. Their fresh baked pita comes with a great (but oily) garlic dip, worth the trip alone! Standard middle east fare, with great hummus and baba ganoush. Try one of their combo platters, you get to try many things and they are generally good. The lentil soup is watery, but their chicken swarma is great.

Was looking forward to lunch. Was seated promptly and that was about it. Waited 20 miniutes no one came to the table. No drinks. No service. Left disapointed. Was not going to wait any longer.
