John's Bar & Grill

The restaurant side of John’s Bar is decent. It’s a local restaurant and separate attached bar. The staff is usually quite friendly and helpful. The food is good, and a couple of the items are great. I’ve never been over to the bar side for some reason. I’m usually there for lunch during the week, which I guess is the reason!

I was there the night the tornado hit as we had frequented John's Bar as part of our routine after every baseball game. Fantastic prices (I am blown away at how inexpensive it is) and the quality is top notch. My personal favorite are the drumettes. I recently took my youngest kids to experience it for themselves and they both ended up loving the place as well. I don't care what the perception is, but it's nice to go to someplace local and feel invited without having to put on a show or "dress up" just to go somewhere to eat. As a parent, I appreciate their sensitivity to kids being exposed to language that they shouldn't, so John's Bar has a no kids policy in the bar section after 8 (or 9) PM. It's common sense to many, but the gentle reminder is nice - and that they care more about you and your family instead of just trying to make more money. If you haven't been to John's Bar, you are missing out on a local treasure.

Would have been 5 stars if the Male bartender had even a hint of personality or even looked at you when he was taking your order. Absolutely miserable person that should stay far away from customer service. It was the first time in many many years I didn't leave a tip! He aeemed bothered when you asked for a beer! But have to say the food was excellent and the food came out fast. Good with the bad I guess. Had the baked cod. Alot of food for the money and the beers were only $2. Get past the miserable bartender and you should enjoy this place. Or just eat in dining room.
