Review The Cazadero - Estacada

Rachel Darby
I hadn't been here for years but I have always been a fan of the building and the view of the river from the rear dining area. The food is way better than in years past and the staff and regulars are delightful. A perfect place to stop for a hot meal after a hike and or camping trip farther up the river. Don't miss the amazing train set up on your way to the restroom! The creator went to incredible lengths to recreate many of the historical pictures on the walls and also added many small "Easter eggs" to search out. šŸ˜Š

Place was dead for 630pm dinner. Menu had been changed the week before. We had the entire dining room to ourselves. Guess the bar was busy?? Dining room is dated. Kids loved the food, think the fish and chicken was hand breaded. Good size potions. Got a free piece of cake for the birthday girl. Unfortunately the robot was not working when we went, reason we came. There is a cool train set when you walk in. Push the red button to watch the train drive around Estacada.

I had a fantastic experience at Cazadero. Visiting on a Sunday around 4 PM, the atmosphere was delightful, and the place wasn't too crowded. Our server was exceptionally attentive and friendly, which added to the overall positive experience. As for the food, it was simply delicious. I opted for the cheeseburger with a side of onion rings. The onion rings were particularly outstanding, seasoned to perfection and generously topped with large shreds of parmesan. It was a culinary delight that I won't soon forget. I can't forget to mention they had a robot to come and take our dishes. It was really really fun. And there were lots of flies all over the restaurant. By the time I got my leftovers home maggots were chilling on my burger. Barf!

Food was good had an elk burger and frys wife had chicken strips. Pretty small portion for the price. My kid had a cheese burger and frys. Had some cake for dessert. Over all everything was good. Seems understaffed. One person to work the bar with a dozen people and the restaurant side with 4 tables was a bit much to handle. Not that she didn't do a good job. Just hustled to do the job. Even having a helper would make a difference. Restaurant seemed shut down and uninviting. Great view.

Sat by window. View of river was great. Staff very friendly. Everything came to our table very timely. Steak a little underdone but I would rather have under done than over done. Last time we came we had the burgers. They were great too.

We both had versions of the Elk burger. Julie had a build your own version so she could have it without bacon and ham which turns her stomach. My Elk burger I had with no cheese. We didn't know our order of onion rings would be sprinkled with cheese. I shook off what I could. They were delicious, we both enjoyed them. I forgot to ask for my garden salad without cheese which I picked cheese out what I could. I had to eat my thin sliced bacon and ham before I could fit the burger in my mouth since thick burger with egg on top, over hard with it's unique pretzel bun. Our caution didn't pay off as Julie could taste some pork on elk burger which we should have explained to our server all our sensitivities. I am sure they could have helped us avoid our discomforts as Julie had to take a remedy on our way home from Estacada to Salem to reduce her stomach issues. Very nice atmosphere and service. The Restaurant overlooks the Clackamas River. We enjoyed driving up through the burned out forest even with the heavy rain storms and minor rock falls on the road before we stopped for dinner.

Finally got the time to stop in today and I'm glad I did, great chill and friendly atmosphere cute robot that brings your food up in the dining area which makes you smile. Warm inviting well stocked bar. Wish I can drink a beer or two but duty always calls. One day! Great country atmosphere. My type of place!

Wife and I went for a casual dinner. The food and service were both above average but then we heard live music coming from the lounge. We ended up staying until the band quit playing. They were awesome and unexpected here in little old Estacada. If you get a chance to see the Radio Riots please do!

The whole experience was amazing. I found the restaurant because of a news feed on my phone and I've been looking for a good steakhouse outside of the big city. Definitely a 10/10 for everything and I will be coming back very soon. Oh and don't forget about Plato, that little staff buddy made my FiancƩe giggle like a kid which was much needed for her after the stresses of moving all week.

What a hidden gem šŸ’Ž this restaurant is a quirky vintage vibe, but modern menu with gourmet touches, clearly a trained chef is in charge. Delicious beyond expectations. Fair pricing, and surprised drinks are super affordable. My steak was done perfect and loved the list of unique sides to accompany it. Will definitely be back to enjoy the view during the day again, over looking the river makes the drive out here worth it.

3rd owner in 2 years.. Nice enough staff,, but the appetizer was horrible/they did take that off our bill. 30 min later our food finally came. Decent food, but a bit cold and there was only 1 other table there. They really need to work on the kitchen staff/sense of urgency in getting the food out. Won't be back, not worth the time or money.

1- We walked in at almost 10 PM and guess what? They were HAPPY to serve us dinner. That is really nice to have a place that will serve a full meal at that hour. 2- The staff was very friendly 3 - Our waitress was obviously new (let's face it....they all are....the soft opening for the new owners was barely over a month ago) and with being new comes not knowing the menu very well etc. That said, she tried very hard, was very friendly and put her best foot forward. A little time and she will be fantastic. 4- It took a few minutes to get our cocktails, but when we did, they were good quality and well prepared. 5- Our food order only took about 15-20 minutes to be served. I had the Steelhead and my husband had the prime rib....both were delicious and had fantastic flavor! When served, I will say the temperature of both meals was not quite as hot as we would have liked, but not cold either. I am including this because it is easy to put all sunshine and rainbows, but what the owners want is to hear the truth....in a positive fashion...so they can make this a fantastic place again. So what did we do after our dining experience tonight? We asked to speak with the owner. Told her all the positive things about our experience, and also nicely shared that the food was a little less than hot, and we thought she would want to know. ...and guess what? She did want to know and we ended up having a wonderful conversation. Overall, our experience was fantastic and we will definitely be back! For anyone reading reviews to decide whether or not to try The Caz, give it a chance....I think you will enjoy!

We really wanted to love it since its locally owned and Estacada has limited food options. Our server was very friendly and nice however service was slow. Just to order drinks took some time. Wasn't very busy as we were there at about 8 p.m. on a Thursday night. I Was told by whoever runs the fb page that they have lots of gluten free food and gf options so I was excited to try it out. Nothing was indicated on the menu so I asked. The lady went to double check and came back saying I could have a salad, fries, and tots. Definitely disappointed in that since I can get a salad most anywhere. My husband got a free salad because my first one came out with croutons (not gf).

Took my neighbor to the Cazadero for breakfast this morning. We sat in the bar and enjoyed great service. Our Blood Mary's were quite tasty and we both got the Country Fried Steak. I have zero complaints about mine. Hot, fresh and more than I could finish. Not sure about some of the other reviews but I've been there 6-7 times since the new owner took over and while there have been a few minor issues I will continue to dine there. Also if any out there thinks that Sam and Nancy are going to be walking through that door anytime soon and rescue everyone I seriously doubt that will be happening.

After being ignored for 25 minutes we left. Sadly was one of our favorite spots. Waitresses sitting at other groups tables playing on phones. Every single waitress looked at us and made eye contact. Not even a hello.

We sat there for 10 minutes with no service at all. The waitress just stood by the bar the entire time and didn't even come give us a menu or take a order for drinks. We used to go there alot. Not sure if we ever will go back. That's sucks.

So I made a reservation last Friday for a window seat for our Anniversary. What a refreshing update in that room!! Beautiful! We had New York steaks. Delicious. Cooked to perfection!! Loaded baked potato. Yum!! Great place. They are doing it right!! Suggestions: You need local beers. Bent Shovel, OCB, Coin Toss, ect. Also rotating signature cocktails. More selection. No Jose' gold? Guys?? There are an abundance of Wineries all around us! Local wines would sell like hot cakes!! Things I'm sure will be coming in the future!! You are doing great!! We will be back!! Thanks for a wonderful dinner!!

Iā€™m so excited to see The Caz grow with its new owners. Highly recommend Mitch to throw together a delicious drink from the bar! And the Cuban Sandwich is a must! Great experience, looking forward to many more gatherings there!

Worse experience! Walked into the bar , took forever for the bartender to even acknowledge us..Ordered our food but the bartender wasn't even sure they had what we were ordering and had to go to the kitchen and ask ( we were ordering off the menu he gave us). Then 45 min goes buy and bartender says sorry its taking so long we just opened yesterday..Almost an hour later finally get our food..Some guy brings it out and my husband ordered the Rancher..it came with 2 eggs sausage and toast..My husband said oh theres no hasbrowns? ( my omlette didnt come with hashbrowns either) and the guys says sorry dude you dont get hasbrowns for 7.50! We got up a left...what a waste of time..Your staff needs waaaaay more training..maybe more staff in the kitchen..Very disappointed and HUNGRY!

Itā€™s been awhile. But I think the Caz is finally back. Great lunch, ice cold beer and good service.

had a taste of the new fish and chips and what a difference. I will definitely order. Shelly, one of the new owners is very pleasant and sounds like she is making some good changes. Didn't have the pleasure of meeting Cam but someday. The Chef Bud is terrific. He is somewhat open to idea's that will help the restaurant. He bakery item really sound delicious. Hope everyone give them a shot. Think I will try the Prime Rib tonite!

Itā€™s a horribly managed establishment. The waitresses and cooks are highly overworked with absolutely no breaks given. My mother got falsely accused of making a coworker cry and yelling at a customer when in reality all her coworkers loved her and she was the hardest working one there. In return she got fired for a false statement. The manager didnā€™t even look into what happened before he fired her. I do not recommend eating at this establishment I feel bad for the other workers there due to the lack of a good manager and owner.
