Monica, our server was absolutely hands down the best server we have ever had at this restaurant. She actually will be the reason we will come back. The service a few years ago was so bad that it has taken me this long to actually think about going here. The food is good but service means a whole lot to me. Thank you Monica for SUPERIOR Service ❤️

Went there for a late birthday dinner witb the hubbs. It was packed but we still got great service from a great waiter and great food as well. I had a lobster burrito (HHGE) and he had a shrimp burrito (also HUGE).

First time here and it was amazing. Some of the best Mexican food I've ever had in SD. The shrimp quesadilla, chile relleno and margaritas were so good. Will definitely be back.

I'm going to miss Hernandez Hideaway the most of anything! It's the best place in the world to go relax on a Sunday afternoon!

What a great surprise ! Went to the wild animal park and then a late lunch here. Great eclectic crowd, 92yr old veterans, middle aged bikers, romantic couples and local regulars. The staff was great and the food perfect. It really is a great hideaway!

Best Salsa in the world. Bloody Mary made from scratch is super underrated. A lot of people don't know about the brunch menu which has nice variation of authentic Mexican dishes

Mexican spot by the lake. Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area. Trails all around to work up an appetite or if thirsty get a margarita. The fajitas were good, not your typical sizzling plate fajita but still good. Chicken was tender and flavorful!

Excellent authentic Mexican fare tucked behind Del Dios Hwy near Lake Hodges. Teresa is part of amazing staff too.

I think this place is great and it's located across the street from lake Hodges near a walking path. Try the combination of three

Although the food is scrumptious, I definitely continue to return because of the unique/tucked away (hence..Hidden) location and personable service. If you enjoy being treated like family, you will love the bartenders and servers here. For those who prefer a more…professional..? interaction with their waiter, this place is probably not for you, and there is nothing wrong with that! I always have a blast joshing around with the team, and am grateful to have a filling meal after trekking around the lake. (PS, best chips and salsa around!!!)

The food was good! But the staff was excellent! My sister's baby absolutely adored our waitress....and the waitress was sooo nice! She took him around the restaurant and even brought him a little ice cream. Also... lake Hodges is beautiful and this place is tucked in such a cool spot! Highly recommend!
