Review Old Post Office Restaurant - Ephraim

The traditional Door County Fish Boil here is delicious and very well organized! The view from the front patio is also beautiful though inside is rather loud given the number of guests all eating at the same time. Watching the Fish Boil being prepared and explained was als definitely a highlight of our visit.

We thoroughly enjoyed the fish boil we made reservations for! Our dinner time was later in the evening so we were able to watch the sunset over the water. Loved that the experience and patio was dog friendly and our dog laid quietly at our feet the entire time after being so tired from the day. Fish master was excellent at explaining the history of the fish boil, and sitting around a fire with other locals and travelers was such a good time! The food tasted amazing and I liked that they offered a choice of chicken or ribs rather than fish just in case you wanted to participate in the boil but can’t eat or don’t like fish, especially for large families that I noticed chose some of the other options and were still able to then all eat together and do the boil! Fish was definitely amazing though! A must do experience in door county!

Excellent Door County Fish Boil. Entertaining presentation of cooking process around the steaming, boiling kettle. Delicious whitefish deboned by the waiter at your table. Served with slaw, sweet breads, boiled potatoes and onion. Cherry pie included for dessert ($3 extra for the ice cream on top). Nice outside tables facing Lake Michigan.

My in-laws said we had to eat here. It was pretty good. It has an old time feel to it, like my grandma's kitchen. I'd eat here again, preferably a table not near the door. Everyone walks through between all the tables to get to their seat as it's a pretty small place.

You absolutely MUST go here!!!! The fish boils here are done by the same person every day of the week and he still does the boils today just like it was done decades ago. He tells a great history of the boils during the show and explains everything. You then go in to eat your meal and are served an amazing dinner. The server will even debone the fish for you right at your table. After your meal you’ll be treated to an amazing Door County cherry pie!!! Forget all the other knock offs in the area and go straight to the Old Post Office!! Make sure to call ahead for reservations!

We enjoyed the Fish Boil on Friday night, and we had a great time. The boil master was entertaining and we thought the whole experience was educational and a lot of fun! The view of the water from our table was beautiful and we were able to enjoy the sunset while we ate. The service was friendly and very attentive. Overall we had a great time and highly recommend this experience for anyone who wants to enjoy a traditional Scandinavian fish boil. We will definitely be back for brunch next time we are in the area.

Call and make a reservation a day in advance! Dress for a windy porch evening just in case. Perfect romantic spot. Only restaurant that offers to debone your fish, comes with slaw, potatoes, onion, bread and cherry pie! So delicious!

Great experience for a Dorr County fish boil. Staff very courteous and attentive. Food excellent! Some were concerned about bones in the fish but the staff expertly deboned the whitefish steaks. The boil show is photo worthy. Arrive early for bench seats but standing is fine. Plenty of parking across the street. Limited parking behind restaurant. For large parties, bill will not be split and 18% added on automatically. Not unusual but a surprise for our multi family group of 20. Fun time!

The fish boil was fantastic. Our phenomenal fish boil chef (I forget what his official title is but that's what I'm calling him) was very engaging and very passionate about his heritage and home. The fish was fresh caught, and super delicious. We definitely loved the experience. It came to I believe 25$ or so a plate, and came with dessert. Our server was great and offered to take the bones out for us.
