We really like it here. The service is good and the people are really friendly. It is cozy and the food is good. Keep in mind though it is small and closes early. Great choice for those who want the feeling of home.

Come for the food and stay for the pie has been used before but it is just  a small comment in a terrific bigger picture. Homey atmosphere and comfortable surroundings ease you into the place the people are nice and friendly and the food you ask. I had The Reggie Jackson Special: Two Pork chops bisquits two eggs and Hashbrowns...  M mm mmm mmmm mmmmmm. Lemon pie was great too.

GOOD TO THE LAST BITE and yes, I ate the whole thing.

Gustatory. Delightful place full of local history going back decades. Fried chicken and grits is it, add you own salt and hot sauce to taste. Busy place, worth the wait. Serving staff are utmost friendly at the ready. Partly open kitchen so you can see them fry, mix and plate. Now about the pies. Leave space for some of the wide selection, and you can take home in the carry away box to avoid embarrassing yourself with riches in the joint. Cash only. This place is an absolute charmer.

Breakfast was good but not great--with the exception of grits and fried chicken, which are not my thing, the breakfast menu is pretty boring. Nice people though. Cash only.

Yummy biscuits. I've only eaten breakfast here once, but the service was great. The servers were friendly and made you feel like family. The breakfast I thought was nothing great, but the the biscuits were delicious. The people I went with recommended the french toast.

Ever since we moved from Los Angeles in 2005, we've been in search for a new place to find good, wholesome Southern Soul Food. From staples as mac-n-cheese, collard greens, and smothered pork chops to standards that are more for the adventurous such as ox

Bring your appetite, cash, and get ready for southern style satisfaction! The food is amazing & the ambiance feels like you are walking into a special slice of local history. Best breakfast I've had in East Bay, easy! PS ask for recommendations & take them. ☺️

Old school place for hearty breakfasts & brunch and (of course) pies. Come for fried chicken and waffles. There are many other choices. I had hot links and hash browns - perfectly cooked.

Oakland A's greatest old school surviving Chicken and Waffles spot headed by a family that is as steeped in Oakland tradition as they are in its music, and a spot where locals, come to visit the owners and workers there on a regular basis, and enjoy what are now a Vanishing class of treats, real Soul Food, on the West Coast. Don't mess around, just go for the chicken and waffles. Be sure to bring cash, and say hi to Chris if you can. This place like the pied became famous for as a slice of history, and places like this won't be around forever. Enjoy them while they're here. God bless Lois and Chris

Friendly service, delicious food, amazing coffee. Don't get me started on the Lemon Ice-box Pie. We had the Reggie Jackson, Chicken and Waffles, and the Salmon Croquettes and everything delivered. The whole staff was super friendly and kept our coffee mugs full. Make sure to bring cash and come with an appetite! You will not be disappointed with this Oakland gem! 10/10
