Adorable shop, friendly service and incredibly yummy doughnuts!! We've been looking forward to getting back to the island to try the new shop and it didn't disappoint! We'll be back in the morning to try even more flavors!
We really enjoyed walking on the beach and getting off at the pier to walk to the donut shop. Delicious everytime!
Found this place while biking with my daughter. Stopped the next morning and bought 2 dozen donuts. Delicious!!!! We were hoping for leftovers the next morning, but they were scarfed down too quickly!

By far the best donuts in the area! Fresh and delicious. You can't get a Maple Bar (long john) anywhere else out here. I grew up on the west coast and this is a great throw back to my childhood treat! Glad I can share this bit of my past with my kids.
Extreme caffeine, the best coffee! & the homemade donuts were phenomenal! Very pleased NY family! We will be visiting everyday! Thank you Rich & family❤️❤️❤️
I would dare to say these donuts are better than Krispy Kreme... that's saying something. Owner is really nice as well, so that's a plus! Definitely getting more next time we come down!!

The donuts are amazing. But wait....we took home a blueberry danish that is absolutely delicious. My crew can't wait to try the cheese danish in our box. Thanks Flip Flop Donuts for always making our trips extra sweet to EI!
Just went to get some donuts with my kids. The owner was super nice. He gave me a very neat and informational tour of the small bakery. He picked out the variety pack for me (per my request). He talked to the kids to make sure they got the ones they wanted. Donuts are excellent. Will be back!
What a great place. The bagels and donuts are all reasonably priced. Everything is made in house and is left on bakers racks so you get a feel of freshness. I ordered a bagel with cream cheese and some donuts and let me tell you this, we will be back for more. The bagel brought back some old childhood memories. The atmosphere is welcoming and warm. The owner has a wonderful sense of humor. I can assure you that what ever you order, you will be more than happy with.

Busy busy busy! This donut shop is so good it's tough to get in! Don't let that deter you however, they get their coffee from a reputable source and their donuts are handmade daily. The employees are helpful and kind and the line moves quickly! The environment is clean and fun to look at while you wait! If you're in a rush don't waste your time and break your heart, but if you need a donut and you've got a few minutes to stand in people watch it's worth every moment and every dollar!
In a hurry first time quick grab and go coffee and donuts? This is NOT the place for you. This is a lovely, local, one man show. The owner is welcoming and fastidious by nature so every customer is his top priority when you are at the front of the line. You should expect to wait patiently. As for the food itself, the coffee was great, and the donuts were very good - not too sweet.
Delicious doughnuts. Open from 8 am until they sell out (or until noon). Quite a line first thing. Website is unclear about available varieties, making it seem like you can get so many ones, but in reality you have to pick from what is made that morning. Also the website says no ordering ahead, but a lady came in just to pick up her order first thing, so not sure. Still yummy!
Donuts are soft and big! Staff friendly. Good selection of toppings. Flavors true. Tables inside, but napkins were scarce. Definitely recommend for a quick pick me up. Serves got coffee and iced with syrup options you add yourself.
We enjoyed our donuts so much we went twice during our trip! The donuts are huge and tasty! Lots of fun flavors to choose from. I personally loved the Boston cream and the Cereal donuts and my kids were obsessed with the Coastal Cheerwine donuts (the red ones in the picture). Both times we went the staff were very friendly and very patient with our large family trying to make up our minds on which donuts to get. A nice experience and definitely recommend to all visiting Emerald Isle!
The donuts my friend and I tried were the best donuts we’ve ever eaten! There was a wait when we got there, but the line moved quickly and the cashier was friendly and efficient. We tried the maple bacon (my personal favorite), the buckeye (my friend said it was amazing), and the lemon pie (the toppings and filling were both so good)! I wish we had bought even more flavors to try. Will definitely revisit the next time I’m here.
Great local donuts, highly recommend the bubba's buttercream!! 😋🤤 Be patient because most of the donuts are made to order.
Very friendly, expect a wait but the line moves fast & the reward is worth it. Some of the donuts are sweeter than you’d imagine but decadent treats tend to do that once in a while. Spoil yourself and your partners-in-pastry-crime and enjoy their selection of unique creations to the last crumb!
The donuts at Flip Flops were quite good, with the maple bacon being my personal fave out of the ones I tried. The donuts are mostly cake-style and are a bit on the heavy & sweet side. The case lacks labels, but the workers will answer any questions you have
Loved these donuts. When my MIL said to take some back with us I was on cloud 9. I wish they had more options for bagels tho, and was a little disappointed they didn't have butter a few times I went.
Big, beautiful, generously frosted/topped yeast doughnuts! I went at around 10am on a Tuesday morning had only had about a 5 minute wait from the time I ordered to the time I walked out with my (heavy) treasure. Plenty of selection — there were maybe 2 dozen flavors on offer. We ended up with a dozen containing frosted with sprinkles (not to be missed), original glazed, Boston crème, chocolate frosted, vanilla frosted, and Bogue Beach (maple frosting dipped in cinnamon sugar — don’t sleep on this one), for $28. When you compare to city pricing which can easily run you $4-5 per treat, this was a great deal. Awesome quality, flavor, and consistency. We’ll be back!
Got an assortment of donuts this afternoon, they were absolutely fantastic. The fruity pebbles donut should not be missed! We cut them all in half so everyone could try different flavors, not a single one was disappointing.
They were very fresh, had a lovely texture, not overly sweet. The customer service in the shop was also great, nice chatting while you wait!
