I've been popping in to this joint since I was in high school (Mt Hebron alum) and it's always been awesome. I've always thought of The Canopy as the go to place for pit beef, hands down! Service is quick, staff is always friendly and atmosphere is casual and speedy.
This place has been around for a long time but it remains the hidden jem of Maryland BBQ. The food and service are great but the pit beef is to die for!!
I was surprised to see this come up as barbeque but I guess Maryland considers pit beef to be part of the category. We ordered the ribs and beef ends with cole slaw and mac and cheese. The ribs were good, oven baked, simple and basic but good none the less. The burnt ends were oddly very vinegary but tasted good. I absolutely did not enjoy the mac and cheese it tasted like the stouffer's from the box but the Cole slaw was delicious. We also got two cornbread to try, I loved it, it was moist, sweet and the perfect mouthfeel. The service was great, very welcoming. Overall, I want to come back and try the pit beef and get the Cole slaw and cornbread again.
We picked The Canopy because it was nearby and had good ratings. The place is just a counter, there's no place to sit and eat. I went late on a Friday and the place was empty! The service was fantastic, everyone gave me recommendations and offered samples. I went with the pulled pork and the chicken and ribs combo with potato salad and Mac and cheese.
Everything was pretty good! The pork had good flavor, the ribs were tender, the potato salad was great! The Mac and cheese was just alright, I felt like it didn't have enough flavor.
This would have been a 4 star review if the service hadn't been so phenomenal.
Great fries. Reminds me of Boardwalk Fries in the mall. Food is consistent every time. Dudes are fast and friendly.
Haven't there for many years
Outstanding service and fast, that place has it all together
Lot of quality food for the money
Definitely going back
