I'm from the Carolinas and I liked it. I would say Chico's is to El Paso what White Castle is to Ohio/Indiana. Yes, they are flautas in thin red sauce covered with a handful of shredded cheese and a side of jalapeño sauce. Definitely a local thing but I understand the attraction. Not for everyone, but if you like to eat local when you travel you should try it.
An El Paso tradition, the one from Alameda is the original Chico's and everything is delicious from the famous tacos to the hamburgers and fries. Definitely recommend this to anyone who will visit E.P.
An El Paso institution. It is not about the food. This is often the first place an El Paso ex-pat visits when he or she comes back home. It's about remembering some long-ago date or some high school high jincks or just coming in from a dark night. The food is actually pretty awful. Nearly everyone in El Paso makes better Mexican food at home. The tiny little rolled-up "tacos" float in a cardboard French fry boat filled with some sort of tomato that reminds me of a mix of tomato soup and tomato juice. Then the whole thing is covered with finely grated process cheese! Not an epicurean delight, but it fills your stomach and brings back memories. Perhaps the most amazing thing about the whole place is the cashiers who have all worked there forever. Without even thinking twice, no matter what you order, they tell you - to the penny - how much you owe! Just watching that is worth the price.
Chicos is an El Paso tradition either you love them or you hate them. This is the original location and by far the best one. According to my kids they also serve the best tasting Hot Dog in Town.
Stopped in while driving through El Paso with my buddy. He and his family use to go when he was young and he wanted to visit while we were going through town. The food was great and awesome prices! Service and employees were just as amazing. Would recommend to others!
Get double order and might still go back for more. If your first time try the hot dog, wild combination, beans, pickles, mustard on hamburger bun, it somehow works. They sell the jalapeno green sauce to go for a reason, you can drink that stuff. It all works, dip the taco rolls in the green sauce and enjoy. A must when in El Paso.
This is a must when in El Paso. Affordable and delicious 😋. Is a CASH ONLY! They have 2 locations, I believe, but this one here is better. In my opinion 😋 I tried the round dog, double meat hamburger 🍔, fries, and a grilled cheese sandwich. I was not a fan of the hamburger, but the atmosphere is good. Totally recommend 👌 👍 chicos tacos are better when you dine in vs. take out.
The Chico's Tacos on Alameda are the best and today the inside was nice and clean and the tacos were delicious 😋 the juice was nice and hot that it melted the cheese just the way I remembered so if you stop going there give it another try I was really surprised I will be going back and I live on the east side and we have 2 Chico's over here but ill be driving to Alameda from now on..
Their foods are very reasonable.
Their tacos are unique. It's more like chimichangas in a soup to me.
You can only get it in El Paso so if you are in town, you should try this place!
They only accepts cash so make sure you have some money in cash. If you have $10 you can eat a looot!
Very popular. There are waiting lines but it goes fast. Prices are not too expensive. Big menu. About what you can expect for a fast food place. Tables are clean. On-site security means that things don't get too out of hand. Lots of after hours traffic. Plenty of parking.
Coming to this location was like a trip down memory lane. I hadn’t been to this location in decades and it still looked the same. I came during lunch time and the service was pretty fast. The food was as delicious as always. Not much has changed, you still need cash but there’s an ATM, they still have a jukebox but the only thing that seems to chance was their prices. If I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by.
We are not from El Paso and I don't eat beef or pork, with that being said this place seems to be where locals go. It has a nostalgia feel... Where people go because they went when they were young, or their family meets there for snacks. Super affordable and very vibrant vibe.
Back by demand, baby wants good. Always a pleasure to visit this part of town. Service was absolute. Flavor in every bite... authentic 👌
Best location for sure! Been coming to this location since I started visiting El Paso back in 2012. Recommend getting singles vs Double, but that's just preference. If you get a hotdog, make sure you have someone to share it with! Also, eat it there!!! Doesn't taste the same at home.
