Review Elemi - El Paso

Delicious food. Everything has such vibrant colors and bold flavor. I was surprised by how good everything was. The fish taco with grapefruit was out of this world. I still dream about it sometimes. Prices are on the steep side. You need a reservation to get in. The place is a little small and feels a bit claustrophobic. But the food is well worth it.

On October 21st, my boyfriend and I went to Elemi for the first time. Sadly, it was their last day before they closed for relocation to the Far East. I must say it was such a great experience. Words are not enough to describe how excellent everything was. Food, omg! Amazing! We are looking forward to visiting at their new location.

Quaint place down town. Only a few tables with a nice bar. We had the Brussel Sprout appetizer, which was well done with a nice sauce and glaze. All the tacos were delicious. A for sure place to revisit or recommend to others.

My words pale the experience you will have here, I assure you. The flavors are incredible in each and every dish at this tiny little treasure in downtown. The juxtaposition of astringent to savory, the fresh pops....not to mention the artistry expressed in each dish that comes out of the kitchen. Go. The food adventure awaits you!

Every bite of everything ordered tasted fabulous. Fresh and flavorful. The cremini mushrooms were absolutely decadent. The mushroom and black bean taco was a real treat. I'm not a big fan of crispy cheese, so next time I'd order without the cheese, but it was still delicious. The blue corn tortillas are amazing! Now let's talk about the Brussels sprouts.....absolutely the way every brussel should be prepared!! Properly charred, roasted, and in this most savory sweet sauce with an almost chocolatey cream dip. Hands down a dish worth returning for over and over again! The dining room is small and it can get quite noisy between all the guests talking and the music playing, but the tables are not too close and the floor to ceiling windows makes it feel more spacious. Happy hour until 6pm ....and call to make a reservation. It's a gem of El Chuco!

It was my first time here but have heard good things. I was not disappointed. The place is small but cozy. The food is excellent in presentation as well preparation. The service was fast and staff was friendly. It's a busy place so recommend making reservations.

I went to a birthday party there. The atmosphere was very relaxing. We got a pizza and it was delicious. Too bad it was too cold outside so we couldn't stay outside the patio too long.

Service was good, the food was decent, but they didn’t have very much selection. They had a few tacos and some small appetizers. The tacos were about six dollars each and they were regular size tacos.

Great spot while visiting El Paso. This is real food, and it is amazing! Must get the Huarache. The green chorizo is unique, it's colored with spinach puree.

This is the standard of what a taco should be. Just the best tasting and most flavorful dining experience I've had in a while. The duck was amazing, the rabbit was absolutely delicious and the cod was just awesome! The rice pudding was off the chain.

We made reservations for 3 and were seated promptly! We got there at the end of happy hour and the server informed us of the happy hour drinks and specials so that we could partake. The dish of the night was red snapper which was delicious the only slight issue was the scale/bones in the fish. The path to the bathroom connects to Berkeley which is pretty cool too!

Some of the best, most expensive tacos I've ever had. A bit of an upscale downtown environment with traditional Mexican tacos as its main attraction. Customer service was fantastic and the relaxed and mature atmosphere was a huge plus. Despite the expensive food and drinks, I may visit again, eventually.

One of the best taco places in El Paso. I've never had a bad experience here. Everything I've tried has been amazing.

My friends and I recently had the pleasure of dining at Elemi, and the experience was nothing short of remarkable. The restaurant now operates on a reservation-only basis, a testament to its growing popularity. Upon entering, we were greeted by a warm and inviting ambiance, perfectly complementing the simplicity of the place. For starters, we decided to try the Brusellas, a dish featuring brussel sprouts. Surprisingly, even as someone who typically isn't fond of brussel sprouts, I found them expertly prepared. The texture was spot-on, with a delightful crispiness on the outside and tenderness within. The balsamic glaze drizzled over them was the perfect finishing touch, adding a burst of flavor. When it came to drinks, my choice was the Jamaicarita, which stood out among the variety of cocktails my friends ordered, such as the spicy margarita, paloma, and pina chulada. The Jamaicarita's distinct taste made it my favorite, although I appreciated the chance to sample the others. Moving on to the main course, we savored a delightful selection of tacos, including Suadero, Campechano, and Pato Al pastor. Each taco was bursting with flavor, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to quality ingredients and culinary expertise. The Campechano, in particular, won me over with its rich and robust taste. But the real surprise was the Pato Al pastor taco, which elegantly featured a subtle yet impressive duck flavor I wouldn't have expected. Throughout our meal, the service was exceptional, and the staff made us feel genuinely welcome. Their attentiveness added to the overall enjoyment of the dining experience.

I saw this restaurant on Instagram. I see their posts and was excited to try their pozole, only to find out its a special that the chef prepared on a whim for 1 day. A reservation must be made to enter this establishment. I called to reserve our table 1 week in advance. I was told to arrive on time or else my table would be given to someone else and I was only allowed to stay for 90 minutes. The restaurant is small but can sit 7-8 tables plus seating is available at the bar. The menu consists of appetizers and various types of tacos, vegan options are available. There are also 2 desserts: the arroz con leche made with chia seeds and tamal de chocolate which I did not try. I ordered the Paloma with Tequila but was brought the Paloma with Mezcal. For appetizers we had the esquites and frijoles de olla. Both were served in a large bowl like family style. We were given cute small bowls to serve ourselves in. The esquites had a great flavor, cheesy, buttery, spicy, sour all in one. Also tried the cauliflower almendrado taco which is a vegan taco. It was composed of cauliflower, mole de almendra and cashew crema. I also ordered a taco de suadero which reminds me a little like barbacoa. Both were delicious, very filling. Each taco costs about $5-6 but they are large an served with blue corn tortillas. Good service, food arrived in a timely manner.

The most amazing culinary experience I've ever had. Art on a plate! Jorge took exceptional care of us and recommended perfect dishes for our first visit. I can honestly say I won't be able to visit another Mexican restaurant after coming here. This place is the only place you should go to in El Paso.

This place was recommended while attending work training and it did not disappoint! We were advised to make reservations as it's not a very large space. We were promptly seated and had very attentive service. We ordered the pepinos to start and although it's a very simple dish, it was very refreshing and tasty. I ordered the vegetarian cauliflower taco and a crispy fish (cod I think) taco. Their flavor profiles were each phenomenal. I also ordered a strawberry lemonade and it was perfectly balanced and not too sweet. My bill came out to $14 and change (not counting the appetizer), which for the incredible quality of food and attentive service - well, to me it was a great deal. Please try this place as you won't be disappointed. Very nice place to enjoy a tasty meal! Sorry I only took two pictures.

Beautiful craft cocktails, try the variation on the classic negroni made with mescal instead of gin. Interesting and delicious appetizers plus tacos, including duck tacos! I didn't try the rabbit tacos. Perhaps next time. That gives me a reason to return, as if I need a reason. Smallish tables for two and slightly too loud of otherwise enjoyable music. The waiter was friendly and attentive and kept us well hydrated. I'd enjoy more art on the walls. The floor surface is a little uneven after entering and walking left. Enjoy your visit!

I have a foodie friend who works as a private chef for celebrities and has previously worked in a Michelin-star restaurant in NYC. I asked him where to go in El Paso, and this was the one spot he recommended. Naturally, I trust his opinion. As a vegan, it was encouraging to see that they had a vegan-specific taco option and a vegan dessert. But in addition to that, they were also willing to adjust any of their vegetarian options to be vegan. They have a cashew crema they can substitute for the dairy one. As a starter we ordered the huarache and asked them to make it vegan. SO good, highly recommend. For the main course, I had a combination of the vegan tacos (cauliflower almond) and also had the campesino tacos but had them make it vegan. The vegan campesino was seriously the best taco I’ve ever had in my life, no contest. It blew our minds. My partner is an omnivore and even had his own meat tacos, and he agreed that the vegan campesino is the best taco he’s ever had in his life too, by far. We ordered the chia pudding dessert and were also wowed by that. It was delicious and so well done. As far as cocktails go, those were great, too! The old fashioned had a fancy ice cube in it with the restaurant name imprinted so that the cherry juice highlighted it. The margaritas were so good, not too sweet, just right. Thank you Elemi for offering vegan options!
