Review Ali Baba - El Paso

Amber Navarro
It was my first time going and I was so glad I had. The atmosphere was very inviting. The food was flavorful and savory. I ordered the first sampler on the appetizer section, it was well proportioned and the food taste amazing. I then ordered the land and beef plate they offered, my father got the charbroiled lamb. Both dishes were seasoned and marinated to perfection. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone n the area or passing through. The owner was very polite and his wife, the cook has such amazing talent.

For the first time visiting this place last week on our way to California. They provided Delicious food, great service, and specially our server I think his name was majd having a great attitude and took care of us very well. The only issue we have is with the owner, which he charged us $39.91 because we’re a family over 5 people 🙄 I had the worker called him and asked him why he charged extra? His respond was because we’re more than 5. Not sure if that legal but my opinion is, you should give a discount for groups not charging more. Specially when your restaurant is empty, it was only my family and another 2 people in the restaurant that time. I don’t want your discount, but at least put sign on your entrance saying that you charge more money for over 5. That’s my experience in this place and hope the owner sees this and charge his mind

Delicious food. Good prices! There's only one waiter for the entire restaurant, so it can take a bit longer to get service.. but food comes out fairly quick.

The hummus and the Naan bread is amazing! If you like hummus you will love this one! Tried the lamb and kabob, very good. Will definitely be back to try other dishes.

Amazing selection of Mediterranean food. Everything has such a diverse range of spices that are expertly layered on top of one another. Combined with the atmosphere, reminds me of eating at the restaurants in the Souq Waqif. Absolutely delicious.

Walking in, we were enthusiastically greeted by a young lady who was also our server. I ordered a mint lemonade and some very smooth humus to start with. Upon arrival the pita was a bit burnt, but it wasn't bad. Our server was very knowledgeable of the menu and helped me make a great choice for dinner. All in all we had a great experience and good food, we will be back. 😃

Wow!! What a treasure this Restaurant is!! We are moving across the country from San Diego to the DC area and happened to be staying the night at one of the Marriott hotels down the street. I always opt to walk when possible, especially after sitting in a car all day! So happened upon Ali Baba from a local google restaurant search and could not be more impressed! The food and service was top notch! We had the Veggie Sampler which was an amazing assortment of freshly made healthy but delectable treats as well as the beef filled kebbeh, which paired wonderfully together! If you couldn’t tell, we were hungry! So we each ordered a plate to finish off our feeding frenzy. I had the Shish Kabob which was cooked perfectly, lamb takes a well seasoned chef to be prepared this perfectly! My partner had the Gyro, which was one of the best he has ever had! I would happily drive another 1000 miles to enjoy this experience again!! Thank you!!

Passing through El Paso, craving Mediterranean food, I stopped here. Service was spot on, welcoming, and the food was super good. I would recommend this place and will eat here again.

Their food is delicious! So far there is nothing I haven't liked from their menu. Their chicken shish Tawouk, chicken shawarma, gyro meat, lentil soup and hummus with fresh warm pita bread is really good! Their jasmine rice is so fluffy. Very flavorful. Service is great. Also, they have walnut and pistachio baklava, they're both delicious. Highly recommend!

The best Mediterranean-style place I’ve had in El Paso (so far). Cheaper than its competitors and as good or better. Good service. Falafel was just ok but the rest of our meal (large hummus, chicken shawarma plate, beef koobideh) was amazing. They also have a really great tzatiziki sauce. Recommend getting the large hummus plate and then saving it to eat with your entree. 10/10!

First time visit, very welcoming atmosphere really like the soft jazzy music and volume was perfect. Emilio's Service was excellent, just one waiter but he was very fast and attentive, had several tables yes refills were just on time and kept asking if we needed anything. We had delicious babaghanouj then gyro plate with salad and jasmine rice very satisfying. Definitely will be back

Fantastic experience! Service was efficient and pleasant. She explained the dishes and gave helpful suggestions. Food was phenomenal! We had the vegetarian appetizer and the mixed grill three meat plate. We wanted to try a little of everything to get a feel for flavors/spices of food. Vegetarian platter: Baba ghanouj was smoky and creamy, hummus was full of flavors that complemented every part of the dishes. Falafel was crispy and amazing! Dolmas was balanced with spices and dressing on it. The pita was fresh and warm. The tabbouleh-parsley and tomato salad- helped balance all the flavors and lighten the pallet. The mixed grill 3 meat plate: the chicken was juicy, lamb was succulent and tender, and khafta was flavorful and cooked well. We also had the mint lemonade and water cucu that was refreshing and yummy! We will definitely be back again!

Alibaba is one of my favorite restaurants in El Paso. With nearly 20 guests I celebrated my parents 60th wedding anniversary there. The Musicians and the dancers were superb. The food was outstanding. It was truly a fantastic evening we will always remember.

We enjoyed our meal immensely, the service was good, ambiance nice and the food outstanding. The portions were extremely generous. Fri and Saturday evenings have live Mediterranean music and belly dancing. The small Baba Ghanouj (I can spell it, but still cant pronounce it!) was one of the best I have had, and way more than enough for 2, even 3 people. My Shawarma Lamb sandwich was delicately seasoned with the most wonderful flavors, with a "finger lick'n" tahini sauce. It was huge, by the way, large enough for 2 to share. My husband's Gyro was also huge, but he ate it all, and enjoyed every bite. HINT: I don't think moat people would have room for fries, so its ok to just order the sandwich .

If I could give it 10 stars, I would! Loved everything since I entered the place, the environment, the belly dancing with live music, the decor... beautiful! And the food was delicious, I ordered the Shawarma Beef & Lamb, it was very filling and tasty. Highly recommend this place and will come back for sure!

Nice place, authentic food with great taste, appetizers- entrees - desserts, Staff attentive - keep it this way! A place to enjoy food !

The food was very good but the service was bad. Invest in some experienced wait staff. The waitress was inattentive and just short of rude. They charge $3.00 for 3 pickle slices and 2 turnip slices. Pretty ridiculous.

All of the food on the menu was the freshest possible ingredients and cooked to perfection. We really liked all of the appetizers and it would be worth coming just for wonderful nibbles to share around the table.

Delicious food, friendly staff and nice atmosphere. We will definitely be going back often.

Food is ok but service is lousy. And they have the air conditioner on in the coldest weather this city has. We asked twice to turn the heat on and have been ignored. Won’t be back here.

I am a big fan of Mediterranean food so when i heard about this place, I had to try it. It was an odd experience because not only did I not enjoy the food, the menu was eerily similar to one of my favorite restaurants which was a bit odd. If you want real Mediterranean food, go to Jerusalem.
