This was an exceptional burger. The server was very good and she answered several questions about the menu choices. The menu clearly states all burgers are cooked medium well to well, unless requested for something else. Good info, for some of us. I recommend this place.
We came here a few times for dinner and liked it so decided to try out their breakfast. YUM!! We officially have a new favorite breakfast spot. Food was great, service efficient and super friendly! Katrina was our server and was awesome, the other thing that was great was the fact that all the servers there were always ready to fill up our coffee if it was low too! Great teamwork from their staff . We will definitely be back!!

The hubs and I were in the McD's drive thru, trying to rush to bible study, when we noticed your sign advertising breakfast. We love your lunch menu so we knew we had to give breakfast a try. Even if it meant being late to church. We were not disappointed!! The food was fresh, hot and delicious! The biscuits were fluffy and light. We should have split one order as neither one of us could come close to finishing our breakfasts. The servings are more than enough for even the biggest appetite. And our coffee Goddess, Katrina was warm and welcoming and attentive. This is our new favorite breakfast destination!
This place has amazing burgers and their breakfast is just as good if not better. Their burgers are cooked perfectly and so far I haven't had one that I didn't like. Their breakfast scramblers are absolutely delicious just like their burgers. The prices are very fair and you will not leave here hungry.
This joint has become a regular stop for me.
The service is stupid good, people are kick ass, and food is damn fine. Keep up the jam up work. See you soon!
It was our first time to dine here. It was fast and delicious, and our waitress was friendly and attentive. The ultimate chicken sandwich and Cajun turkey burger were amazing!
Delicious milk shakes- my kids get so excited that they are as pretty as they are yummy. Best burgers in Edmond- bar none. FRiendly staff and very relaxed place to grab food with your family. ❤️🐮
This place was a random pick for my mom and I while visiting the city. We were absolutely pleased with our decision. Great service and great burgers fries and onion rings!!!! I had the Maui Cow Burger, pineapple, bacon, and honey mustard...sounds like a really weird combo butni encourage you to try it!!! So good! We will come back definitely!
Went with my cousin and his treat. The service was great as well as the staff. The food tasted excellent and was served hot as desired... Recomend to anyone to try them out.... 5 plus Stars I would give them on all aspects...
Top notch service, great ingredients, overall wonderful burger joint. From a simple cheeseburger all the way to the Mad Cow burger...simply excellent. A must-try if the opportunity arises.
Had such a great time today with a party of 9! Everyone loved their food and Katrina was an AWESOME server and super friendly! Thank you so much!
Loved it. Never heard of this place before. My husband and I were driving around looking for a hamburger place and WOW couldn’t believe our luck. Since posting I’ve gotten several responses of friends that love this place. Why have they been keeping this a secret? Will definitely be back for breakfast.
Really good burger and sweet potato fries. Only bad thing is it’s 140 mile drive from Texas.
Great burgers, eggs cooked as ordered, friendly staff, and my family had zero complaints
This place is now open for breakfast!!! 7am!!! Omelettes are awesome biscuits and gravy very filling biscuits taste fresh baked. Thick sliced bacon just like on their burgers. It is a must try!
Ian and I paid a return visit to the Cow Calf-Hay 27 Apr 2015. We both had the Classic Cow burger, Ian with fries, mine with onion rings. Both were perfectly cooked and full of great beef flavor. We both had iced tea as well. Service was very friendly. Our check was $26.48. Recommended.
Love this place. Great burgers and onion rings. Support the local eateries like this one. Can be hard to find it if you've never been but worth looking for. Would definitely recommend!
Best place for a burger! The pun for a name drew me try this restaurant and it was one of the best decisions I've made. After a difficult decision, I chose the turkey burger; it was wonderfully cooked and seasoned- by far the best I've had. The only thing keeping it from a 5 is that it has a small seating area and is slightly hidden making it harder to find if you aren't looking for it.
This was our first visit and my only regret is we haven't been here sooner. We had the Mad Cow and the Western, both were delicious. We also had fries and onion rings. Can't wait to go back and maybe try the chicken.
Best burgers in Edmond. No frills but great food!!! I especially like the classic and sweet potato fries. Off the beaten path but worth the trip.
The food here is always great! Not a lot of options on the menu but who cares it is all fantastic! Cow calf-hay has one of the better burgers in okc/edmond. The only downer is service isn't always the best.
Came here after church for lunch. The menu was small but enticing. It was hard to decide. The hubs got a Farmhouse, which had sausage mixed in with the beef and a fried egg. I was pleasantly surprised since I'm not a huge fan of eggs. I ordered the Mad Cow. It was very tasty. It includes beef, chicken, potatoes (IKR?!), two kinds of cheese, and a handmade ranch dressing. Both burgers were juicy and flavorful. The hubs got sweet potato fries, which were a tad done. The waiter - without prompting - recognized this and brought replacement fries. Awesome job! The regular fries could have been fresher. The boy got a grilled cheese, of which I was not privileged to partake. He liked it. The Coke had an odd aftertaste, almost diet, but not. We will eat here again.
My husband and I thought the burgers were great. I would eat here again. It's off the main road. Needs more advertisement. Only way we would have known about this place was Zomato.
Great little place to eat! Their primary focus is high quality flattop cooked burgers but I order the grilled ultimate chicken sandwich almost every time. It's fantastic. Also, don't forget to ask for some garlic mayo, it's amazing too! Not sure what DR is talking about, but judging by his profile he is a chronic disliker.
Great burgers. If you want a burger without having to dress up, this is the place to go! So far I have not been disappointed in any of the burgers ordered, and I have been there several times! The sides are basic, glad to see the macaroni salad is gone. I have not tried the garden salad since it has been on the menu yet. The sweet potato fries did not have much flavor, so my husband said he will stick to the regular fries next time.
Kid friendly and budget friendly as well!
Stumbled upon this cafe from Urbanspoon. Great hamburgers! Four adults and two children left full and happy. No complaints from any of us. Awesome neighborhood gem!
I like the burgers but would not recommend going here right at opening on a Saturday. This is when the young staff also has their lunch at the back table of the restaurant. I felt like I was interrupting their meal every time I needed anything. This has happened to me both times I have gone to this place. If you can get past the young, inexperienced wait staff...the food is pretty good.
Where did the fresh cut curly fries go?? They were delicious! The frozen straight cut fries are NOT. They recently changed their menu and need to bring the curly fries back!
Good burger. Fair prices.
Excellent Burgers. We came through Edmond on our way to KS. We came across this place via a google search. It was a little off of our route but it was worth it. Seeing the outside, we almost decided to skip it. Really glad we went in. Seriously the best burger we've had and we have some really good ones where we live in TX. Bun was toasted perfectly and the meat was cooked just right. Very good flavor. We stuck with the Classic and were not disappointed. The onion rings were very good too. We will stop in again next time we are in the area. Clean place with good service too.
Yummy!. I ate here for lunch today and I really enjoyed it. I got the FFA burger and onion rings. My wife got chicken strips and french fries. I would definitely recommend it. The burger was top notch and the onion rings were really good as well. The fries were good but nothing spectacular. Will definitely come back.
Absolutely amazing!! The burgers are textbook awesomeness. Service was amazing. Very courteous staff. Definitely WILL be coming back!!!
The food was very good, the atmosphere was fun, and the staff was relaxed but friendly and the service was great. I'd recommend this joint to any one looking for good burger.
Good Burgers!. This place is better than your typical burger place. They also have a wide variety as well to choose from.
One fav burger places. I go here almost weekly for a good burger and its sooo good love the burger staff is nice as well really relaxed place love it
Great Flavorful burgers and really good Onion Rings. Don't miss the sweet potato waffle fries - maybe the best in the OKC area. Service is a little lagging but the food is worth the search for this out-of-the-way spot.
Nice. Me and my wife went to this little eatery on saturday. I ordered a Turkey burger which was great, she ordered a regular burger in which she really enjoyed. We visit a number of burger joints just for variety. This was a nice little spot. The waitress was great and really good. My only negative was my curly fries didnt appear to be fresh. My wife really enjoyed the onion rings vs the fries.
One Great Cheeseburger!!. I had a plain ol' cheese burger with fries. A great burger, good flavor, juicy and delicious. The fries were nothing special, but they were good too. My wife had the Maui Burger (I had a bite and it was pretty good too. I'm not a big pineapple fan, but the bacon on her burger was great.) She got her's with sweet potato fries' which were excellent. All in all we really enjoyed our food at the Cow.
Best Burger I've Ever Had. I have to say, I've tried plenty of burger joints in the metro, and this is by far the best I've ever had. The atmosphere certainly showed that they are dedicated to burgers and burgers only. Service was excellent, the waitress (whose name escapes me) checked up on us plenty of times to make sure we were okay, and the food was awesome. Loved how dedicated the owners are to come up with the comical and original names to each entree. I tried the Mowi-Cowi Burger, which features of course, the hamburger patty, a pineapple ring, honey mustard, bacon, and provolone cheese. I felt like this burger was made especially for me. I definitely will be coming back in the near future.
And just a personal note: I've read plenty of reviews saying that the restaurant is always busy to the point where you have to wait for a table--I'm not sure where they got that idea, I came on a Friday evening at dinnertime and the restaurant was almost completely empty- there was only one family there. But, if you're in the mood for a nice greasy hamburger without smelling like onions after leaving, this is definitely the place to go.
Good Burgers. I'll take this place over the over-hyped Flat Tire Burger. Great burgers, really good onion rings. Goofy decor that seems to work okay. Service is excellent.
Udder-ly Terrific. The blackened burger was great, a great full blackened flavor. The western was even better, the jalapeños were a bit warmer than expected, but very good. The fried pickles also were good, as well as the onion rings. The fries were mediocre, fries are not supposed to be limp soggy potatoe strings, fries are to be "fried" which usually has an implied meaning of being crisp! Everything considered a great and unique taste, only one weak point to avoid, unless they fix it.
Best veggie burger in town!. I used to go to either Flat Tire or S&B's when I wanted a veggie burger, but this place has both of them beat! And I agree with other reviewers about the onion rings - they're awesome too!
Love the choice of burgers! They are excellent... And the service is fantastic!
Best rings in metro. Love the burgers and daily special can yield greatness. However, this is the best onion ring around. The onion ring special sauce is to die for. Order it on your onion burger and wow, watch out. Now that it has passed the unknown stage you may have to wait for a table. But the wait is worth it. Or call in your order and pick it up for take out eating.
Great Burger, Cold Fries. Loved the Maui Cowi Burger, it was perfect! However, my fries were cold and mushy. Food was ordered and received at peak lunch hour, so there really was no excuse.
Moo-licious. Yes its small, yes they have limited hours, & yes its crowded, but holy-cow its GOOD. Chicken is breaded just right and looks great. Fries & onion rings are fresh-cut and perfectly cooked. Burgers come in two sizes, 1/3 & 1/2lb with 1/3 being plenty. I keep telling myself I am going to eat something other than the Mad Cow, but it hasn't happened yet...THE burger place in Oklahoma City!
Goofy decor but great food!. I've been wanting to try this place, but was a bit hesitant because I'm not a fan of City Bites. Boy, was I in for a surprise! The decor is as whimsical and goofy as that of City Bites, but that's where any comparison ends, as far as I'm concerned. We got there early (before 11:30) and that was a good thing -- this small place fills up fast at lunchtime. Our waitress greeted us promptly, returned with our drinks and took our orders. It took a bit for our food to arrive, but it was worth the wait. The 3 of us ordered different burgers -- the Western, the Onion Burger with Cheese, and one with bacon, onion strings, pepper jack cheese and spicy mayo that I can't recall the name of. All were fantastic! Juicy beef, well-toasted bun, melting onions -- delicious! Our fries\onion rings orders were a bit mixed up, but they brought us extra onion rings to make up for it. The onion rings are fabulous as is the sauce.
We'll be going back to this place, even though it requires a trek to Edmond. It's well worth it!
I flew 6 hours to get the MADD Cow Burger. It's that good.
Best Burger in town. I have been eating at the Cow since they opened. I go with a co-worker at least a couple times a month or more. Great service and excellent burgers. The onion rings are very good and I can't eat an onion ring anymore with out wanting to dip them in the Cow Calf-Hay's onion ring sauce. Definitely recommend to anyone!
Best in OKC/Edmond. I have always said, "A good burger does not constitute a 'good burger joint.' A good burger AND good fries make a good burger joint." The Cow has the best burgers in town and they have fantastic fries.
The best part of the burger is the patty. It is crispy on the outside and so juicy inside. I will be back to this place soon.
Negative: I am young and cheap... I don't want to be waited on for a burger. And furthermore, I don't want to tip for a burger! In the future I will carry-out.
Great!. Excellent burgers and friendly service!
To quote my 11yo "Two thumbs up, 5 stars, the fries are perfectly cooked And the service make you feel At home, the burgers are out of this world!"
JJS. Can you say Yummy? Definately will be back. Nice to find a place to have a big ole' juicy burger and rings. Delicious!!!!
Super Awesome!. I've eaten here a couple of times already, I used to pass this place when going to my apartment and could never figure out why so many cars were there until I googled it! I recommend the "Mad Cow Burger" and definitely the onion rings, the sauce that comes with them is soooo good!!! Their hours have also changed by the way, they are now open I think Tuesday-Saturday 11am-8pm!! sweeeet!!!
Big, juicy burgers. We're astounded at just how good the burgers are at Cow Calf Hay. Our favorite is the Classic Cheeseburger, but we've also tried some of the specialty burgers including the Mad Cow and a Santa Fe burger that was the daily special. Every time, we are treated to big, juicy, delicious burgers. The fries are okay, nothing special We like to judge a hamburger by whether we could make a better one at home or not... doubtful I could do it.
Enjoyably good!. I have been to this place at least 3 times now and I have enjoyed each time! The hamburgers are lean but yet have a nice amount of juiciness! MUST eat the onion rings! They are wonderful!
Mad Cow Burger. Their "Mad Cow" burger is probably the best burger I've ever had in Oklahoma. I wish they had better hours though, but oh well.
Awesome experience. I've work in food service so I can appreciate a good wait staff. Beck and the other girl there today were great. The atmosphere was nice and clean. Kids would definitely love all the cow decor especially Molly the cow. The food was just as outstanding. I had the Coo Coo nest and my boyfriend had the onion burger. The chicken strips were nice big and juicy. And the jalepeno gravy was amazing. The onion burger was nothing like McDonalds as the previous review had stated. It was a true 1/3 angus burger. All in all we will definitely be returning. I give this place an A+.
One of the Great Burgers. We saw a couple articles on this place and thought we should try it out. I like a place that does not have to have a million things on the menu. Let me pick a from a few burgers and I would be happy 6 days out of the week. I had the Barnyard with mushrooms, grilled onions and pepperjack. I added a fried egg just because I have been hooked for the past year. It was great and messy. The best part was the fact that they did not burn the grilled onions like other places seem to do. She had the Classic Cow and really enjoyed it. She substituted onion rings and said they were crisp and tasty. We were full but the "soda-Cake" the waiter described will be a must have next visit.
Wonderful and unique restaurant. This was the second time I ate at the Cow Calf-Hay, but this time I brought along the whole family. The onion rings have a wonderful light batter and dip, and the dessert cake is to die-for! My husband loved his Maui Burger.
Although the food is great, the best part of this restaurant is the customer service.
We leave saying "That was fun!", and feeling very full.
I highly recommend this great burger restaurant.
My favorite burger joint ever. As a self-acclaimed burger enthusiast, this was hands down the best. The madcow burger will blow your mind. Especially with a side of their awesome onion rings!
RIDICULOUSLY GOOD. We ordered take out & ate at home. The hamburger was perfectly cooked, not pink, not burnt. It had good flavor and the sesame seed bun could barely contain it!
The onion rings were spot on! Crunchy good size, needed a bit of salt.
I recommend this burger place! Wish it had some evening hours!
City Bites brings back the Mad Cow. City Bites has finally brought back the Mad Cow burger, under a new roof and slightly different sign.
Weirdest/Best Gastronomical Event ever. I do wish they would do something about the hours, for us non Edmondites.
Great Burger. Very tasty burgers, innovative toppings. Looks like hand made patties, and hand cut curly fries. The onion rings are very good; like the fries they are crunchy on the outside and fresh, not greasy inside. Clean place, table service, fun atmosphere. Not right on the main street, but not hard to find.
Good Burger Calf-hay. I went to The Cow for lunch. The Cow is a non-chain burger joint with burgers, fries, etc... I had a burger and fries, the burger was tasty, the fries were smaller curly shoe string fries, and while not as good as the burger, they were an acceptable side item. The burger was a step up from the fast food chains. The Cow has table service and it was fast and friendly.
The store was clean and neat when I went there.
Of note The Cow is open for lunch weekdays and lunch and dinner Friday. No weekend hours. Also The Cow is located more or less at Broadway and 33rd, but it sits behind the stores on the south east corner of the intersection. It is just west of the grocery store parking lot.
I recommend giving it a try.
Ian and I had dinner here two weeks ago. It was pretty good! He and I both got burgers, his a plainish cheeseburger, mine a western BBQ burger. Ian got fries, I got onion rings. I also got an appetizer of fried pickles. Those were excellent; they came with a very nice ranch dressing to dip the fried pickles into. The burgers were pretty good; they had a nice crust and texture, and very good flavor. That was some good beef. They were cooked medium well as requested. Not a scrap was left. The iced tea was very good. Service was super friendly and prompt. Our check was $29.50. I look forward to another visit.
This is such a hidden gem! Great options for burger toppings and the onion rings are a must! Some of the best I have ever had. You order at the window and find a seat and they bring you your food. I got the classic. The hamburgers are thin and crispy, so if you like them meaty, get a double. Super friendly service as well!! They have TV's to watch as well.
Food is amazing! It's sad due to covid this place can't get help! Couple cooks and 1 person running the front and still gets the job done. Any servers out there looking for work you should call this place!
I was very happy with the gluten free mad cow burger I had. It was not only the first hamburger, but it was hands down the BEST hamburger I've had since my gluten free diet started. I enjoyed the atmosphere of the restaurant. The only service that may have been considered lacking, was the female that helped us at the counter. She didn't seem upset or was rude, but she gave off the vibe that she didn't want to be there.
Really good burgers and the price is decent. Tots, onion rings and fries are good along with the fried pickles. We'll be back.
I don’t know what was better - the food or the people? I’m visiting from Canada and was looking at a spot for lunch. The Cow Calf Hay looked appealing! As soon as I walked in, I was greeted by a gentleman and he was great. A lady server checked on me often. And the burgers were amazing. Hoping to visit again before I leave. PS Don’t order the Western unless you LOVE Jalapeños….comes with a lot.
A great chicken sandwich, one of a kind. And the sweet potato fries are excellent!
My husband and I stopped here for dinner with our toddler on a Saturday evening. The menu was simple and had a good amount of options. There was also a kid’s menu. I had the Classic Cow Cheeseburger, my husband had the Blackjack Burger, and we ordered chicken strips and fries for our kiddo. Everything was delicious, and service was quick and friendly as can be. Our daughter LOVED all the cows, and we thought the theme was delightful, too. We’ll totally eat there again next time we’re in OKC.

This is the best burger restaurant we’ve had in OKC, hands down!! We got the classic and the black jack. Both were amazing. The burger wasn’t too big and they weren’t sloppy. It was the perfect size, great flavor, the bread was good, etc. Everything was on point, we had no complaints! I would rank them over Tuckers, Patty Wagon, and the Garage… and those are all really great options for a burger.
