Sweet Me Bakery

Finally a Cantonese/Chinese bakery in Edinburgh! Swung by around 45 after opening and grabbed a couple coconut pineapple buns and a chicken floss bun. I’ve been looking for a Chinese bakery as I grew up in Vancouver and love the pastries you find at Chinese bakeries. I know I was spoiled coming from Vancouver but I finally feel like I can get something that hits the craving when it hits. Thank you!!!

They make AMAZING chiffon cakes. If you want cakes that aren't heavy on the stomach and not smeared with sickly sweet buttercream, this is your place. They are our go-to cake shop and their prices are perfectly affordable. Do yourself a favour and next time you want to order from Patisserie Valerie for a cake, just go for Sweet Me instead.

I have been there a few times to buy some fresh buns and egg tarts. The pastry of the egg tarts is crumbly which is nice. It would be nice if they had egg tarts more regularly as they are delicious from this place. I recently ordered a custom birthday cake from them and they made it correctly according to my specifications. The sponge part was lovely and soft - the texture is very similar to a pandan roll. The matcha cream was also perfect, it was not to strong or weak.

Came here after work on recommendation of a colleague. Just walking through the doorway brought instant nostalgia, as the gorgeous smell instantly transported me to being a little girl buying buns with my Wai Po in Boston Chinatown. However, the pineapple bun and custard bun that I tasted today are even better than those of my rose-tinted youth. It took a lot of restraint to save half for my partner to try! By far the freshest and tastiest Chinese bakery products I have had in the UK, and a real asset to Edinburgh. Can't wait to come back for the egg tarts!
